WOW!  No way Lever would stay at Crows after that.

Not happy campers going into the GF.

That mood may have contributed to the reported infighting during the second quarter and their lack of effort.

Shame the team didn't play as well as Lever did - they might have a Premiership Cup.

If reports are believed, they began to turn on each other at half time. This team had a pre game segment about how open they're to each other and how no team is as close. [censored] joke, you stick by your teammates to the end.

In terms of the threat of Lever going into the draft, lets not forget that Nth hold pick 3, and have stupid amounts of money that they were using to try and get Martin and Kelly. They are not a destination club, but they can certainly match our financial offer to Lever if the draft is the way it heads...

Lever did say he only wants Melbourne. Now i understand it's not set in stone, but if he really wants us, refusing to play for another club and waiting to get picked up by us is a quick way to make yourself welcome to your new clubs fans.

I don't understand Adelaide's gameplan here... the best thing that can possibly happen for them is if Lever says he's willing to possibly consider a different Victorian club to get his old club a better deal.  Any chance of any good faith from the Lever camp is now shot to hell by the aggressive attitude of every official and players who comments have been made public.

If they ever wonder why quality players are leaving their club, look to their attitudes and player relationships.

I think the fact we are looking at maybe getting pick 2 from GC is going to make them [censored] themselves. They'll bend on pick 10 and 27 or let him go for free and try hold the high ground.

  4. Just imagine if clubs decided to not be dicks about trading players. It's not like this is the first or last time a player is going to request to leave Adelaide. If you build a good relationship with different clubs, you could 1 day be getting a player who wants to come to you for unders. Even though i loved Howe and Frawley, they wanted to leave and i was happy to let them. At the end of the day the Football club will still be standing and we got to see Jayden Hunt and other young talented player come into the side because of it.

What interested me was, what Lever said, about how he thought, we played an exciting brand of football. What a  comment coming from a GF footy player from another club, very pleasing.

The other interesting thing was that Burton wasn't one who was short on chasing a quid, in his playing days.

I think he has 750,000 reasons to say that mate. If it was genuine, i agree, it warms the heart.

Who's on heaps less D that thinks they have more value?

Lever is being paid on form and potential to drive us to the next step, hopefully the playing group can give it time to see how it works out and not get their noses out of joint.

I'd be angry if the club was incompetent and not thinking about the future of the playing group with this deal. However, since Jackson has been incharge i think the club has become rather stable.

Coz I can tell you for a fact that the players would definitely be pretty angry about.

Players have to earn the coin, also remember Nathan Jones, Bernie Vince and Lewis are all close to the end, huge cap room available if guys like Oliver and Petracca earn it. It's also one of those things in which you hope they buy in to the product, not the coin. I could see guys like Petracca and Oliver wanting big bucks and being tempted by different clubs. I don't see guys like Hunt or Gawn demanding big money, because i think they're really invested in the club.

  8. If Jesse Hogan kicked up a fuss and wanted to go home i would want the club to do a deal with either WA club as long as they pay market value for forward of his stature. Asking for two first rounds pick for a 21 year old defender is insane and trying to lure other clubs to the table to put pressure on us is a dick move.

Need to wait for 7 News in Adelaide for that.

Apparently they released this statement now because they didn't want everyone to hear it first from Lever's mouth. Imagine if you tune into Adelaide 7 news and hear him say i wanna go to the Dee's

I disagree, it's nothing to do with individual expectations - it's the expectations of every player in the side.

You are the one who said he was great in 2016, not me - if you agree he was not great and his role in the team isn't to be a superstar I don't disagree - but don't then try to argue that he was great in 2016 when he wasn't.

Jack was scoring as many goals as Hogan and Garlett while being 3rd fiddle. Not many players put up those numbers doing his job, the ones that do are great players. So 2016 Jack Watts had a great season. You can disagree and that's fine, but i don't understand what your expectations on Jack are if 40 goals as a 3rd forward isn't a  great season.

This is the thing, he was good not "great" in 2016 and 2017. It was good that he was able to consistently contribute for the majority of games during this period but that should be the baseline. Saying he was "great" overplays his contribution and also speaks to how low the bar has been set.

His role in the team wasn't to be a superstar. I don't see many 2nd or 3rd forwards scoring more than Jack did that year and the ones that do are top players. The bar has been lowered, but that's because we got told to expected the next big thing in football, not a good player.

You must be joking. He was essentially dropped twice this year. Even if I concede he was ok last year then that's 1 out of 9 years. You happy with that?

His numbers have always been decent. Last year he was great and this season he played 16, 3 or 4 of them still injured and on top of that had to do some ruck work. Yet he still put out good numbers.

I'm confused by the idea that so many people believe Watts to be a completely lost cause, yet also believe another club would be willing to trade him in.  If he was actually as bad and fragile as many seem to believe, surely he would be no use to anyone and would be delisted.  There is obviously a decent player there and quite a few clubs are interested in having him.

He will go to the swans and bag 40-50 goals as a 3-4th forward and will be sitting here with Hogan and T.Mac as our talls.

It's exceptionally frustrating reading some of the posts on this forum about how Jack will respond to this adversity and come back. Rubbish! He will play a few good games and then go back to his comfort zone.

He has had 9 years to respond already. If he was a cat he would be gone by now.

Equally frustrating is that MFC would have some strong plans of what to do with the free cap space and the draft pick they would get in return now that we are a newly minted destination club.

And I'm sick of hearing all the winging about how he played too early in his career and has scars about being tackled in this 1st game. It's like some supporters think he is the 1st forward in the history of the game to play in his 1st year and get tackled.

Blind hope and optimism doesn't help you win a premiership.

His last two seasons have been more than good enough. Jack responded to his critics a long time ago, fans not letting go the fact he isn't the messiah they hoped for are the only ones saying he hasn't.

Whether he stays or goes, is walked or pushed, this should not be playing-out in the public domain like this.  Under Roos and PJ we ran a very tight ship in the off season.  The disputes that leaked out at the start of the year and now the possible trading of Watts are issues that should be dealt with in-house and not through individuals communicating with each other through the media.

This is because we are moving on our once great hope. The media are like sharks and smelt blood in the water 2 months ago and kept pushing the story. Watts doesn't want to leave and is probably being forced out to make room for others, but at the same time Goodwin hasn't seem to have closed the door fully on Watts which is why it's kicking up.
