8 hours ago, Young Blood said: Which is why they're giving him a chance to adapt the game plan/style with what appears to be a fairly obvious timeframe/KPI's.
I don't like it necessarily but they'll give him the rest of this season and next to really implement the changes, which has been pretty obviously indicated. Its been noted by many that swinging larger gameplans changes especially dramatically offense wise isn't something you can suddently fix or get right in a single off season (yes yes should have happened earlier) so we've been commended by decent media heads for adapting/learning the new faster gameplan on the fly which is working in patches.
Seems like the playing group still trusts and respects him so they're not going to blow it up for the sake of it just yet.
Whether we like it or not he's not going anywhere anytime soon. But fine with people venting about it as the ol tradition when its not going great.
I still feel like our fitness is the concern with us dropping off in games more then we used to with energy/effort. That was always our staple over the last four or so years.
If the board was actually giving Goodwin the chance to adapt the game plan over this year and next, then why wouldn't they say it? Have they said it anywhere? am I missing something?
Many people on this very forum said we would bounce back this year and that last year was the aberration. Trading out our future 1st round picks and refusing to trade anyone of currency in the last trade period tells me the club believed it could compete this season. Yet, we are worse than last year, and everyone is another year older.
If you're right, it's a major [censored] up. We have lost thousands of membership renewals, back to low crowds, and have lost many of our PT slots due to the poor form.
Goodwin knows this is a result industry. He was lucky he survived until 21. 21 he did the thing, he got the result. Now he should know rounding out from the 4th season following the flag with nothing but back to back straight set exits and 2 bottom 6 finishes that his job is gone.

You have to look at the likes of Longmire, Bartel etc. to take over from Richardson.
Coach wise, unless you go to Longmire, I think you can only go for a fresh face. Whoever interviews best I guess, but importantly the interview must be done after our new Football Boss comes in.
I'd move Tim Lamb on. Congrats on giving Kozzy a load of money to keep him at the club. A simpleton could've done that. Who have we recruited that's worth a damn since we won the flag? He has underperformed in his role. So bye-bye.
Is it time for Choco to go as well? I remember when we had that patch where we shot the lights out, everyone was quick to sing his praise. We've been [censored] for years at goal kicking and general disposal. So, bye-bye or move into another role.

All I do is hold people accountable. Goody, the board, the players. Kolt and other 1st and 2nd year players can't get a pass for being [censored].

1 hour ago, whatwhat say what said: cal is the only media person who repeatedly says that we've targeted key forwards over the last few years
most other media nuffies just say that we should...completely ignoring that it ain't for want of trying...
I agree we have been looking and those who say otherwise are 'nuffies'.
However, we haven't landed anything. That's not good enough.
If you believe reports, Ben King will be a pie. If that does happen that would mean Collingwood would have brought in McStay and King in 5 years. Us? Fullarton (does he count)?

I really think May's actions show a difference in how people like to receive feedback themselves and how they think feedback should be delivered.
Phil Davis spoke about this on radio earlier, he acknowledged it's not a nice look, but if it gets a response then you circle back and say that was great leadership.
Now I don't think we will circle back to this in the coming weeks, it's just a storm in a teacup in my opinion. All I can say is if I was on the field and in May's position I would've reacted in a similar way, as I did sitting in my chair at home. It's not a personal attack on Max, nor does it spoil my image of him as a champion of our club and our captain. It's just frustration on losing the game. You can also be damn sure I would be giving feedback to Clarry, Christian, Bayley and Kozzy for their last quarter brain farts that cost us as well.

1 hour ago, At the break of Gawn said: Thankfully in the presser Goodwin said that the final qtrs would be a whole club review. To me that indicates that he thinks there's an issue with our high performance team.
Goodwin saying this now, after 9 rounds when any fan could've pointed this out after round 3 is akin to him saying 'no comment' to the question.
Since Burgess left we've not been the same physically. Yet no changes have been made.

If Brad's statement stopped at the first paragraph and started again at the i want to thanks the members part then you could argue this is an acceptable/nothing statement.
In totality, what has been sent out, is a load of [censored] and an insult to the intelligence of our fan base.

At this moment we definitely aren't a premiership side but being predicted around the bottom 5 on the ladder is just crazy in my opinion. Looking at our list we have some insane rookies that have showed promising potential such as Windsor, Kolt, Browny, Mcvee and even Riv.
Not only do we already have depth with our young players we still have arguably the best player in the league, Trac. Clarry is once again showing that he will hopefully have a massive rebound season and dominate the mid once again alongside the best Ruckman in the league, if not all time. I just don't understand how people can be saying we won't be a competitive side.

Goody should've been sack when he lost to the Eagles by 6 goals in Perth. Haven't been the same since. You just know he will come out and say we've improved in his press conference and "we have enormous belief in our plan and have a desire to get better". Just bin him for the love of god.
Post North after Chandler kicked 3 goals and all his defenders came rushing out I said he wouldn't kick 3 goals in his next 3 games (and if he did I'd donate 50$ to charity). He kicked 1 and was a passenger again. This is our problem. So many sub standard players that rode on the back of the elite guys.

Was that the difference in the game? No.

Two points for me.
If you re-watch the game or the highlights, do you find it staggering how much more movement there is from Geelong players to create an option for a kicker compared to when we have the ball. You can't play keepy-offs like we tried in the previous rounds with next to no movement providing options for our kicker.
If my memory serves me correct, last year we had a Ruck coach, coaching our forwards, a midfield coach, coaching our mids and finally, a defensive coach, coaching our defenders. This year we have a defensive coach, coaching our forwards, a novice coaching our mids and a defensive coach, coaching our defenders. This is just my opinion, but I find it crazy we haven't had a proper forwards coach at the club. It's sad to listen to greats forwards from previous generations talk about the issues some of our players are having individually and I find it hard to blame the players for this. Your thoughts?

2 hours ago, The Lobster Effect said: Why isn't JVR making any progress?
Seems to have trouble with clunking marks.
J. Brown: Van Rooyen needs to work on his foot work, it's poor, he is very clunky. His ability to turn his defender isn't great. I think about it as a phone box, what's your craft in the phone box. How can you use your feet and strength to protect the drop zone, for him it's not there. He is turning balls where he has 60/40 advantage to 50/50 at best.
To me it looks he tries to hard or is terrible at reading the flight of the ball and runs under the ball as well. This is what happens when you don't actually have someone who is a forward, coaching forwards.
