  1. Don't the Demons still have a minor sponsorship deal with 'Just Fruit'?

They supply boxes of fruit to offices and things like that - I was udner the impression that they were going to be a handy part of the kids programs in Casey, I know the school groups which toured the stands were given fruit for a snack, I asume something like that will carry on.

The fruit supplied in that instance was done so buy a number of wholesalers (including my company) who support the Demons. As for Just Fruit, unfortunately they are no longer in business.

Back to the sponsorship situation, wholesalers and retailors are not big enough to be able to help the MFC in the dollar terms that are require ($Millions). Apart from the major chains (Coles and Safeway) most busineses are small to medium in size. The Government on the other hand has plenty and promoting HEALTH would definatley get an EAR.

    Definately worth a try!

  2. Seeing that most Junk Food companies are heavily represented in the AFL, (Maccers, KFC, Subway, Hungry Jacks, and now Mission), the MFC should perhaps go for a healthier food option as a sponsor.

I'm sure that if they approached the Minister of the Department of Agriculture, they should surely be able to make a compelling case that would attract serious $'s to promote FRESH FRUIT and VEGETABLES.

The state Government does sweet FA to promote FRESH FRUIT and VEGETABLES, and believe it or not this industry usually booms in times of recession.

It would have a positive affect on the general population who already are aware of the benefits of FRESH FRUIT and VEGETABLES.

Being in the industry I would welcome it (promotion) with open arms, and what better way to promote it than through a SPONSORSHIP.

  3. I would just like to let everybody know that I have relinquished my AFL membership for an equivalent ($) MFC membership.

The resason being, I pay aproximately $400 for an AFL membership with a MFC package. Of this the MFC receives aprox. $150.

By buying a Trident membership for $400 ALL the money goes to the MFC and I get a reserved seat for all home games.

I figured, why should I give the AFL money who then sticks it to the MFC at every oportunity, [censored] FIXTURE every year so that we can be kept on welfare and under their control.

I would encourage everybody to give this serious consideration, after all what real value is AFL membership vs MFC membership.

  4. The AFL again, through its fixturing, has slapped the MFC and some other recipients of AFL handouts, squarely in the face, just as a school yard bully would.

This fixturing fiasco, which has been going on for years on end, continues to widen the gap between the “haves” and “have nots”. In essence the AFL will not allow these clubs to build their membership base. I have a brother who used to attend all games, who now only attends a few games due to kids sporting commitments on Sundays.

It is extremely difficult, especially in today’s economic climate, to attract new sponsorship, making us more and more reliant on AFL hand outs. This in turn renders the MFC unable to fight for their right as an equal franchise holder in the competition in fear of reprisals from the school yard bully (the AFL).

The inequalities that are created by the AFL are done for a purpose and that is so it can have its power which would otherwise be questioned on many fronts.

Why is it that the AFL is in competition with its member clubs on the sponsorship issue?

As the supposed custodian of the games financial health and growth, isn’t it beneficial to ensure that all member clubs are treated financially equally.

When will we ever see EQUALITY agian?

  5. dean laidley is one strange cat. he has basically just [censored] off one of thier young stars for nothing. pretty hard to demand loyalty from him now.

    strange tactics.

Maybe DL is sending him a message for some baggage he has just aquired.

  6. I am sure Gardner and his Board made some very bad decisions just as Jim's Board will on their watch.

What would you consider to be the 5 worst "very bad decisions" that you think Gardner made?

    1. Ignoring AFL advice on a range of issues.

    2. Not becoming closer with the MCC.

    3. Extending ND's last contract.

    4. China.

    5. CEO fiasco.
