Thanks Demonland I watched it last night and was aware that it was pre-taped and even though I knew he was going to cop it big time for our last quarter, I still enjoyed the watch. Hamish is a much better interviewer than Gazza who gushes over you when things are going well and ice’s you out when they are not. I must admit that Simon is looking very vulnerable at present and I’m hoping that the playing group step up to support him.

Courageous commitment, DZ, and loyal. Well posited.

It's a fluff piece background interview, streaming fodder.

FFS people, get a grip. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I didn't watch it ... just strongly suspected that it would be another verbal, non-specific con job. It appears from DL comments that it was just that ...

We have lost our mongrel and team carriage to defeat other contenders, as frequently exposed across the past few seasons.

We have ignored the potential of some of our past 'greats' to inspire, re-design and establish a consistent, winning culture and intent. We have moved too far from the Demon heritage and mindset. Now, we are soft, contradicting occasional and impressive onfield surges in short bursts (usually in the third quarter of games) and then, merely hanging-on to await the final siren. There are exceptions, of course; there remain, more often, capitulations and disappointments. I really wonder how the likes of Neita, the Ox and Lyon (et al) perceive this situation and analyse the steps in Demon rehabilitation.

    Goodwin and Chaplin should go.

    Jones\Radford and Bassett are safe.

    May - Stays

    van Rooyen - Stays

Salem - trade him to Richmond where they need experince.

    McVee - Stays

Petracca - Stays but if he wants to go he can go.

    Windsor - Stays

    Viney - Stays

    Lever - Stays

Spargo - goes if he does stay I don't have any problems with it.

    Turner - Stays

    Gawn - Stays

    Tholstup - Stays

Oliver - Personally I think he goes but if he stays I'm fine with it.

    Billings - Goes

    Langdon - Stays

Laurie - I think he's contracted but he goes IMO trade him for nothing he was a top 20 pick.

Bowey - Goes in a trade someone will take him.

    Melksham - Goes Retires

    Langford - Stays

    Lindsay - Stays

    Jefferson - Stays

    Howes - Goes delist

    Adams - Stays

    Hore - Delist

Verrall - Delist or stays don't care.

    Campbell - Stays

    Sharp - Stays

    Johnson -Stays

    Henderson - Stays

    Kentfield - Delist

    Moniz-Wakefield - Stays

Culley - Stays for now have to see more of him.

That's 16 players out of the club not including. The 5 possibles. Changes will be made to the list as well as the coaching staff.

Full of bitter truths and reasonable requirements for the Team, with coaching changes and adept recruiting. It is difficult to believe that the types of players that we need have not been available, for one reason or the other, including scouting oversights.

I have never understood why AFL clubs don’t bring former stars in for a session throughout the season. We have four stars in Schwarz , Neita, Robbo and Lyon who could all teach a trick or two about the craft, quite separate to game plan. Things like separation, leading, when to leap and a lot more.

    Hooray! Now we are thinking.

Sparrow played very well last week and in practice matches

I am still anticipating Spazza cracking four or five great games in a row, hard tackles emerging with the ball, hitting targets hand and foot, kicking a swag of great goals. I reckon he can be a great footballer, but as yet, has not broken out of the plastic bag in which he is restrained ... lacking confidence across the game, hamstrung by something in his instructions so far.  I live in hope for him.

Would love to see May through forward in bursts here and there as a circuit breaker if we are dominating forward 50s, but not putting it on the scoreboard, however IMHO he's too valuable as the rock of our backline to move away from that role perminantly.

Absolutely encouraged by Petty's performance down there against GWS though and also rapped that T Mac can step up as an emergency and more than hold his own.  Thought Salem also looked back to a good level.  Great to re-establish that elite backline again.  Now just to get McVee back in 3 - 6 weeks (know the injury report might say less, but I'd rather not rush him).

Intermittent rotations of Maysie into the fwd line might make a bit of difference to our score line, plus he is not short on giving advice to those in some need during match play and additionally, the present form increases in TMac more than cover any shorter-term loss of May in the backline. Just sometimes, I tend to think May is under-utilised at full back, offering far more in talent and experience, including marshalling teammates, creating blocks and tackles to advantage that would all auger well for our underperforming forward potency.

We will get cooked in a trade

Out of contract and no one in the media knows who he is, recipe for disaster

That most probably means that Juddy will be the  next monkey on the media grinder's squeezebox.

Typical half-hearted effort from a lot of our so called ‘supporters’.

Bad weather? It’s a winter sport.
    GP was on? WGAF

What else are you going to do on a Sunday afternoon?

Was going to drive from Adelaide to the 'G but my Kayo subscription, which connected Saturday before the game, had to be somewhat justified in the eyes of 'she who must be obeyed'. Fairy Nuff?

An excellent long kick for goal by Jai Culley.

Hopefully he focuses on improving his pace.

Here's your chance Jai! Good luck and all the best at the Melbourne Football Club! ❤️💙

Looking forward to the Demon's media department doing a brief 5 minute interview with Jai over the next day or so.

Jai seems strong in that run-on (with pace) to continue the chain and handball receives in a straight line towards the big sticks, backing-up with a lovely molly-duker for a ripper goal ... just like Leoncelli. Golly, we need a mid who can do that and score.

JVR needs to stop running under the ball. He can have a spell if he keeps that up 😩

JVR should be running up to the ball, well before despatch and into some space. Turner, on the flanks, does this well.

    Multiple choice time:

    a. he was wearing navy blue and red

    b. he has a shaved head, looks mean, plays for keeps

    c. him name is not Cripps, Green or Maynard/Moore

    d. all of the above

I like a good, accurate summary, and this one, QD, seems to hit the spot from so many directions. Thank you.

Don't get me started..... ok you got me started.  Why a knee into the back/ribs/stomach of another player including going for a mark (who often doesn't know its coming) is acceptable when it clearly has the potential for serious damage leaves meosrry bewildered. That action should become a free kick in the way the head is protected.

Sorry, Robbie57, only some heads are protected, some rib cages, some legs ... the conundrum continues ... just ask Max!

  13. Strawbs was a good bloke, handy big man onfield, thinker when it came to form and style of delivery, absolutely top value. He was aggressive (mongrel) at times but disrespected by umpires (possibly because he had freckles) and thus, a target for their form of derision. One hopes that AJ is not so characterised by the less than honest or competent holding a whistle these days.

I thought he'd be ok seeing as the giants player was OK.

I mean Greene knees someone & gets a fine.

Poor guy, his 1st game and he gets suspended

At this stage of the season, they (the AFL) had to penalise us in some way - didn't take much argy-bargy consideration, just a rather rapid and snatched out-of-the-blue decision that may or may not be considered 'dangerous' - that's good enough. After all, it is Melbourne.

    Bowey - impressive all game

Yes Chook, I felt that Bowey was impressive across the game, not necessarily all game - but it was great to see him more active and inventive with his kicking skills, accuracy and tenacity in winning the ball on occasion. He can only put these experiences in the bank, work on these, become (once again) a really good clearing backman. I'd hope that the return of Judd will add to his capacities etc.

Not sure, i reckon he comes out for turner next week

Nice snap early and a couple of tackles in the second Q but not much aside from that

Fritta needs to get his mojo back, so Turner in next week to replace Fritta (for more conditioning) would probably be a wise move.

    [censored] forward line still here.

The fwds sadly have the talent but no inclination to lead out of Mt Vesuvius into emerging space; consequently, far too high a percentage of entries are inaccurate long bombs from which opportunities are curtailed and positive scoring is limited. All of our opposing teams over the last few years know this, responding accordingly. Thankfully, today some of our recruits attempted to overcome this blaring anomaly.  We are left in hope ... with few exceptions.

Suspect Clarry and his protege Harvey will be like two pigs in [censored] today

Get the hard ball and bang it long!

Expect Maxy to punch from the ruck too

Like to see our forwards straight-line it to space, giving Clarry, Tracca and coy something to stab at with the smalls in support and hungry.

    Hey mate, love your videos.

A few requests that are no doubt already on the radar.

Hunts 70+ metre torp (should have been GOTY)

Daveys triple baulk vs Freo in the comeback game.

Yzes banana from the wrong pocket

T-macs kick over his head vs West Coast.

Pretty much any goal by Gawn vs Geelong.

    Cheers mate.

These were greats, no doubt. Looking forward to seeing some of the Ox, more of Liam J, and Stan Alves from way out there.
