Bernie Vince Retires
Class act Bernie... showed the young Dees you could be committed and competitive but still have fun...Bernie’s in my GF team

Box Hill Hawks v Casey Demons - Round 20
Seriously all this rap about depth.. there’s not one herein who could be an afl player.. perhaps Petty in two years the rest are out... which goes to say even if we make the finals we are numbers 27-44 very ordinary footballers... 2020 might be our time..

Robbie's Goal of the Century
The one reason for going to the G in the 70’s and early 80’s was to watch Robbie battle the entire opposition often single handed ... no shirking no whinging just grace .. full forward one week, centre half back the next then rover winger full back...the only one I ever saw come near him was Jesaulenko...

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 20
I came down from the forest to the Gabba to watch these two a while back and the Suns only had two good afl players in May and Martin and all 159 people at the ground, not including the hundreds of cardboard effigies of a red headed politician, saw Harmes come of age that day and they witnessed TMac become our main man. This is the last chance to test our depth and give some second tier guys a senior game before the next 6 or 7 games start. So here’s a team that should still be way too hard for the Suns while resting some sore bodies Backs... Vince OMac Salem, Wagner Frost Smith Forwards.. Petracca TMac Bugg, Garlett Weed Kent Middies.. Gawn Brayshaw Oliver, Harmes Tyson Jones Inter... JKH ANB Lewis Bull Managed.. Spargo Fritsch Jetta Hogan Melksham Ins... Weed Bugg Kent Wagner Bull Sorry WJ but can’t abide the one week at a time now is the moment to look toward the prize.

Changes v Gold Coast Suns
It’s a long way from the MCG here in the rainforest but the word on the sweet eddy in the red cedars is that if you want to go deep into the finals you need 28 or 29 fit and healthy tyros all with recent senior big game experience... and we have the current 22 plus Hannan and Hibbo ( I don’t expect Viney back) which is 24.The next 4 or 5 haven’t played seniors for yonks .. Bugg Kent Vanders Weed TSmith Pedo... so I wonder if we can afford to leave all of them out in this next four week period. Kent for Spargo and Wagner fro Smith this week?

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 16
Almost mine too Werridee but I’d swap Garlett for Trac (time he learnt to play 4 quarters at Casey) and I’d leave Weed at full forward to ruck 40% and that means TMac goes back to CHB.... we need his spoiling and marking down there and to give OMac a boost.. sorry just gunshy on Keilty after the Petty pity.

Changes v Fremantle
Missed the saints game busy selling vinyl records but from reading this thread it seems we need a change to our game style in these next two games because we need to win them to restore some confidence or the last six games could crush us. a lot of talk about the back six but if the opposition are running forward without any real pressure we are going to struggle so we have to quicken up both the forward and mid sixes. forwards... for next two games TMac back and only two talls Hogan and Weed (or Frost or TSmith ) and add both Spargo and Jeffy To Melksham and Fritsch mids... Max and Jack are givens and I would with Oliver and Stretch on the wings and the other two inside the circle are difficult because none are quick but lets put Bernie in there in a run with role (if Fyffe is out then on Neale) and the last gig is Gus back six...Nev OMac Hibbo and. Jones TMac Lewis Bench... Harmes Salem Team is ... Jetta OMac Hibbo Jones Tmac Lewis Oliver Brayshaw Stretch Melksham Weed Spargo Garlett Hogan Fritsch Gawn Viney Vince I/c.. Harmes Salem JSmith ANB IN Garlett Stretch Vince Spargo OUT Petty Petracca Hannan Tyson

Clarry "one of the best to emerge in last 20 years"
My memory was lost in a lane in Marrakech but didn’t we start with pick 6 and traded it and others to the Suns to get 3 and 10 and be in front of Bombers fro Clarry then traded our 10 to GWS and others for Bugg and 7 to get Weed...but that could have been another time..

Demonland Player of the Year 2018 - Round 8
Came down from the rainforest to sell my vinyl at the West End Fair and that sat in the front row at the Gabba with the 53 other spectators. . I kid you not I counted them .. A very different game on the fence then in the armchair and a suberb four quarter performance from the Dees. In the flesh let me say that ANB and Harmes will play every game this year bar injury not for their brilliance (unlike Clarry Gus and Chunk) but their ability to get from contest to contest and you don’t realise this on TV because your following the ball. Best ...and you could do multiple versions.. 6 Harmes 5 T Mac 4 Lewis 3. Gawn 2 Salem 1. Fritsch only two lesser lights today who will be hoping Viney has a quiet one.. Petracca and Tyson... though you would expect they would survive on potential and that Spargo will be spelled.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 8
As I see it albeit after a cheroot or two ... both Hunt and Garlett are victims of the press.. neither have the room to exploit there biggest asset .... their pace... Hunt runs into the wall or the opposition make him turn to the boundary and his hook kick is picked off .....and Jeffy spends all day chasing shadows rather then run into th paddock... they have been marginalised... best 27 or 28

Changes vs Saints
No change this week .. Petracca if fit to play for Casey until he genuinely looks like taking a game apart .. not just ten minutes ... Viney must play minimum of two at Casey to prove fairness and gain touch.. Pedo to retire gracefully...

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 6

List Analysis Potential v Reality
I’m not much of a believer in reality, last I looked it was 1967, but ..pardon while I exhale...I am a big fan of incremental development. Given the club’s resources in coaching staff et al, I would be astounded if every player wasn’t expected .. no demanded that they improve deficiencies, black spots, skill sets, aerobic targets... I expect Bernie Vince to keep improving or else his time is up and he can go make a fortune selling real estate with that cheeky grin. The blue sky of my rainforest has no limit like Jesse, Olly, Gus, Track, Maxwell, Oscar, Lever, Viney......... in saying that and lighting another cheroot the big gain in ‘18 has surely got to be the game plan. The plan must demand improvement of players and coaches as it gets refined to the millimeter.... i’ll blow away now.. see ya..

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Watching the game today through a haze of cheroot smoke and the taste of an Asahi or three it seems obvious we need pace pressure and power and this boy was a rabbit in the headlights so pick 27 and nothing else but also plain to see wattsy is yesterday's hero so pick 29 form port would be okay and keep 10 for speed......
