  1. Came to me in a smoke that we would win by 7 goals just on ability and system but with Stratton and OMeara out make that 13.... dare to dream Dees... we are the REAL thing ... oooommmaa
  2. Smoke dreams would have us waving goodbye to the cats then the hawks then the pies and then the Tigers...now that’s a September to dream about Nash

Class act Bernie... showed the young Dees you could be committed and competitive but still have fun...Bernie’s in my GF team
  4. Seriously all this rap about depth.. there’s not one herein who could be an afl player.. perhaps Petty in two years the rest are out... which goes to say even if we make the finals we are numbers 27-44 very ordinary footballers... 2020 might be our time..
  5. The one reason for going to the G in the 70’s and early 80’s was to watch Robbie battle the entire opposition often single handed ... no shirking no whinging just grace .. full forward one week, centre half back the next then rover winger full back...the only one I ever saw come near him was Jesaulenko...
  6. Our best (available) team for the run at a finals berth.." Defenders..... Jetta OMac Wagner or Keilty Lewis Frosty Hibbo Midfielders..... Salem Brayshaw Tyson Gawn Oliver Harmes Forwards.... Melksham Tmac Kent Fritsch Weed Garlett The underwhelming Bench ...... Jones (what a shocker against the swans) Petracca (I’m not a fan) ANB (Mr Fumbles) JKH or Bugg (just to make it 22) In ... Weed Melksham Wagner/Keilty Kent Hibbo Out.. Pedo Hogan Hunt Spargo AVB
  7. Great to see Vanders back if only to increase the number of “depth” players with recent experience in the ones.. so Kent for Spargo, and Hunt for JSmith at least ... we need 30 live ones going forward at the start of the finals
  8. I came down from the forest to the Gabba to watch these two a while back and the Suns only had two good afl players in May and Martin and all 159 people at the ground, not including the hundreds of cardboard effigies of a red headed politician, saw Harmes come of age that day and they witnessed TMac become our main man. This is the last chance to test our depth and give some second tier guys a senior game before the next 6 or 7 games start. So here’s a team that should still be way too hard for the Suns while resting some sore bodies Backs... Vince OMac Salem, Wagner Frost Smith Forwards.. Petracca TMac Bugg, Garlett Weed Kent Middies.. Gawn Brayshaw Oliver, Harmes Tyson Jones Inter... JKH ANB Lewis Bull Managed.. Spargo Fritsch Jetta Hogan Melksham Ins... Weed Bugg Kent Wagner Bull Sorry WJ but can’t abide the one week at a time now is the moment to look toward the prize.
  9. It’s a long way from the MCG here in the rainforest but the word on the sweet eddy in the red cedars is that if you want to go deep into the finals you need 28 or 29 fit and healthy tyros all with recent senior big game experience... and we have the current 22 plus Hannan and Hibbo ( I don’t expect Viney back) which is 24.The next 4 or 5 haven’t played seniors for yonks .. Bugg Kent Vanders Weed TSmith Pedo... so I wonder if we can afford to leave all of them out in this next four week period. Kent for Spargo and Wagner fro Smith this week?
  10. Kent for Spargo
  11. 6 C Oliver 5 T McDonald 4 J Lewis 3 M Gawn 2 A N Bullen 1 J Melksham
  12. How does Trac get a game?
  13. Almost mine too Werridee but I’d swap Garlett for Trac (time he learnt to play 4 quarters at Casey) and I’d leave Weed at full forward to ruck 40% and that means TMac goes back to CHB.... we need his spoiling and marking down there and to give OMac a boost.. sorry just gunshy on Keilty after the Petty pity.

Missed the saints game busy selling vinyl records but from reading this thread it seems we need a change to our game style in these next two games because we need to win them to restore some confidence or the last six games could crush us. a lot of talk about the back six but if the opposition are running forward without any real pressure we are going to struggle so we have to quicken up both the forward and mid sixes. forwards... for next two games TMac back and only two talls Hogan and Weed (or Frost or TSmith ) and add both Spargo and Jeffy To Melksham and Fritsch mids... Max and Jack are givens and I would with Oliver and Stretch on the wings and the other two inside the circle are difficult because none are quick but lets put Bernie in there in a run with role (if Fyffe is out then on Neale) and the last gig is Gus back six...Nev OMac Hibbo and. Jones TMac Lewis Bench... Harmes Salem Team is ... Jetta OMac Hibbo Jones Tmac Lewis Oliver Brayshaw Stretch Melksham Weed Spargo Garlett Hogan Fritsch Gawn Viney Vince I/c.. Harmes Salem JSmith ANB IN Garlett Stretch Vince Spargo OUT Petty Petracca Hannan Tyson
  15. Show does Petracca get a game ahead of Garlett.? Potential or runs on the board
  16. My cheroot is alight Clint so here goes... 1. Melbourne 2. GWS 3. Sydney 4. Richmond 5. Adelaide 6. Geelong 7. Hawthorn 8. Collingwood 9. Western Bulldogs 10. Essendon 11. Port Adelaide 12. Carlton 13. St Kilda 14. Fremantle 15. Gold Coast 16 North Melbourne 17. Eagles 18. Brisbane
  17. The Dees make it to the least day in September against the Swans ... here is our line up in the grannie..... Baker OMac Lever Hibberd Smith Hunt Lewis Brayshaw Vince Track Hogan Gartlett Spargo Weed TMac Gawn Oliver Viney I/C.... Jones Maynard Bugg Kent out injured...Frost Jetta Tyson Result.... 3/4 time Dees trail by a point!!!
  18. I’m not much of a believer in reality, last I looked it was 1967, but ..pardon while I exhale...I am a big fan of incremental development. Given the club’s resources in coaching staff et al, I would be astounded if every player wasn’t expected .. no demanded that they improve deficiencies, black spots, skill sets, aerobic targets... I expect Bernie Vince to keep improving or else his time is up and he can go make a fortune selling real estate with that cheeky grin. The blue sky of my rainforest has no limit like Jesse, Olly, Gus, Track, Maxwell, Oscar, Lever, Viney......... in saying that and lighting another cheroot the big gain in ‘18 has surely got to be the game plan. The plan must demand improvement of players and coaches as it gets refined to the millimeter.... i’ll blow away now.. see ya..
  19. Watching the game today through a haze of cheroot smoke and the taste of an Asahi or three it seems obvious we need pace pressure and power and this boy was a rabbit in the headlights so pick 27 and nothing else but also plain to see wattsy is yesterday's hero so pick 29 form port would be okay and keep 10 for speed......
  20. I am smoking the same cheroot as you WB of our experienced leaders we have only Bernie and Nat who can get a game the rest chase scorpions and if we want to increase our consistency and be able to crank up the pressure in the last quarters we have to get some cool heads in the 26 - 28 age group with 100+ games and preferably a defender a mid and a forward add one class ball user in the midfield like Omeara and finals are coming... but not a 33 or 38 year old...
  21. oh to have the freedom of the child again and not be accountable and be able to sneak a cigar behind the shelter shed and to not have to answer for your actions without the youth exxcuse but surely it assumes that you are going to improve because you age or you play more or you can only make so many mistakes before you can kick a goal from ten metres or you learn or are taught to run and run and run.... and todd viney lay on the floor of the portsea pub in a fit of laughter because fyfe was comin........and comin and..
