  1. Just kick it off the blo#dy carpet was one used as nausem by my father. That first goal of ours by Jeffo in a few nano seconds was dare I say it..... champagne football.
  2. I think this season is a must breakout year for Jvr. He seemed to tread water in 24. Jefferson looked great but one game...hold everything. Turner is the one I hold the most hope for. He's listed at around only 89 kegs but he plays a lot stronger than that for sure. I would love to see Milkshake back but with his age and body anything is a bonus.
  3. Given this is a non Mfc thread I'm going to go off here. Your L.L. is probably just a greedy sod. Sounds like your doing it tough. Unless your part of the growing numbers of people leasing their paid for primary property and living in a smaller rented abode. But possibly in his corner it's fair to consider other things have gone up that would hit his or her bottom line. Landlord and property insurance premiums are through the roof with those who have it paying for those who don't. Not exactly fair. I'll go without things to insure my properties for fire and disasters but some people won't. I mean some genuinely can't afford it. But I'm paying all the money increased levies that others are not. Tbh I'm not wealthy (maybe a little on paper) and I have a small foothold in the real estate segment because my incredible father worked himself ragged to help facilitate his children get a home. But i really want to return the favor to my beautiful children . Not mansions each. Although I love them so much that would be nice, but something that makes them smile when they come home. A sanctuary of sorts that doesn't have a mortgage that keeps you awake all night. Or one with a roof not coming down in so many rooms. And not a McDonald's manor that eats up the environment. Just a nice little cottage with the extravagance of a second bathroom and a Pickett fence. ( No not that bloke). Back to your Landlord.....its tough all around. Repairs are steep. I recently replaced a reverse cycle unit in one place for $2700. And I got 3 quotes with the cheapest model. The bloke installing them was really helpful explaining his costs in petrol and his offsiders wages and so forth . But everyone is feeling the squeeze. I couldn't afford flood insurance on one property I have, because silly me bought a place that has a creek behind it. Turns out the conveyancing company didn't give me the full story but ultimately due diligence falls upon me. Caveat emptor or something like that. Big joke on me..... premium for flood damage is 35 grand per annum. That's close to the return. I passed on that. But I know it's tough and I'm no saint but I am happy to accept a little less than market rate if the occupants are good ( I didn't know they were pies fans.) if there was ever a valid excuse for discrimination this must be itπŸ˜€ I don't actually negative gear. Well a little bit. I'm actually not a fan of it. Maybe your first property. But tax breaks for people to accumulate a portfolio of plenty of places isn't really helping the average punter buy a home . And home ownership is an essential piece of the Australian dream. Without this it creates the stress of eviction and who wants that hanging over you and your family's heads. A man's home is indeed his/ her castle and a necessary bit of the fabric of happiness. The delight in mowing one's lawns, painting the walls, putting on a deck or even dreaming about renovations are such a huge bonus for happiness. Yea home repairs and costs and mortgages are stressful but much less so than being homeless. I've had mates in this ship and it's not pretty. I'm clearly not anti class, but negative gearing on a large scale isn't fair. I can't imagine the horror of homelessness. Prior to my current business I used to work in sales... in particular for a decade, a real estate agent. It used to bowl me over when people would put down 5 % and borrow eye watering amounts. I'm sure a lot of those now would be suffering. We also possibly need to wonder about the number of new arrivals vis a vis the number of new homes being built. A delicate subject. I think this is going to come to the front in this forthcoming election. Australians are generous and caring people but it's difficult to find room and time for other considerations when your belongings are about to be piled up upon the footpath by some hard nosed sheriff just doing his job. Back to the footy. Some of these blokes don't get how lucky they are to be kicking around a salary that could see them buy a house outright in a third of their time just kicking a ball. Best of British luck to them because it's the greatest game in the world. And Aussies have always dreamt of home ownership. It's what helps make this place the greatest country in the world. And I definitely want this country to stay the greatest one in the world. So it's important we look at all this. Tx for listening. Go Oz. Go Dees.
  4. Votes for Cwood players....surely the umps get a few.
  5. Spineless maggots.
  6. I first got suspicious when I saw them outside Centrelink when I drove past. But last Halloween I saw that their pumpkin had no teeth.
  7. Lowest of lows Cwood supporters. Snuck in under my agents radar but it's time to increase the rent of my investment property full of pies Tenants.
  8. Does N Daicos need a knee op.....they give way on him often.
  9. When they are not too bruised from walking.
  10. History. Phfffffff.
  11. I couldn't agree more. As demonstrated by the failed Petty experience. But unfortunately, more a necessity. And sure Jvr needs to improve but he's still young. The finger of suspicion points squarely at Fritta first. Well and truly . And moving May fwd allows for Jvr in the ruck who after watching on Sunday is clearly our second best option. Jvr in the middle more when Max needs a break would help negate the need for May in defence.
  12. He definitely stepped up when the 57 year premiership drought was going to be broken. His steely nerve became the personification of accuracy. His goal out the back when Max had gone up with him was an absolute ripper and still hasn't got old for me. He needs to recapture some of that gf form.
  13. There really isn't that much of a choice period. Especially like for like. He's a very unique type of forward. He's highly skilled and plays much better in dry conditions and space. Maybe Milkshake is the closest fit. I think a few are frustrated by him just not firing a single goal on Sunday. Last year he had an iffy season. And there were times he didn't seem to lay many tackles. So I think there is room for a little criticism. It's tough for him because he's really our only player that's likely to kick 50 plus. Maybe Roo in a couple of years if he's not rucking so much. Fritta is a classic confidence player so he just needs to get a bit of form under his belt. To be fair he's in a team that hasn't always provided it's fwds with great i50 entries.
  14. Yea forgot about those. Well actually I had hypnosis performed to erase the 200 season permanently. Blues were unlucky in both those seasons. Not because we beat them but because 94 I think they were one of the better teams and went out in straight sets. In 2000 urgghhhh, they were probably the only side close to beating Essendon.
  15. Yep. They have that certain untoward feeling about them. Hard to describe but you just know you have to hope they lose up until the one you mentioned. In my lifetime there's been no real rivalry with us except a small window of close wins courtesy of Kozzie and some Carlton sod. But the disdain is certainly strong. With Cwood there is a long history of hatred and harm.
  16. Just so hard to know who to support. I guess the evil me wants to see a dozen hammies and ACLs from both teams. Gotta do my baracking bit.
  17. Windsor is just so polished. A delight to watch. And cool under pressure. No matter where he gets the ball, it's like he's seeing things slow like that scene in the Matrix.
  18. Having so many fwds ranked as they are in Chandler, Roo, Fritta and Jeffo not great. Well I give Jeffo more points and he scored twice as many goals as the other three combined.
  19. Apologies above for I mistakenly quoted Curnow's height being higher than Jvr. It's not. One inch differential.
  20. I think most of the backline leadership comes from Lever. He makes the most noise. Though it's quite possible that May leads by example. He certainly displays a lot of courage much to his own detriment. He's got the battle scars to prove it. We also have Tmac down back who brings a cornucopia of guts and marshalling so we could utilise May's leadership in the forward line where it is much needed. Goody was flexible enough to trial Petty for a significant long time after its use by date. I don't think May would be that different an experiment. With Tmac, Lever and Petty firing we certainly have enough talls and muscle . As opposed to our fwd line stocks where we have a dearth of power. Fritta is highly skilled but a light weight in the pack efforts. Jvr is your classic run and leap. Although he crashes packs well. I think he will be get stronger and hold his own in the pack marking department . Jefferson...see Jvr...but no experience. That's it. Melksham is iffy. We can't afford to play Tracc there full time. Id suggest Sparrow. An out of form Fritta who is not a classic full forward and Jvr who is an athletic type CHF. We have no real big Full forward. Oh wait I forgot Disco Turner is tall enough at six fet five on the old scale but only comes in at 88 kg in the new. I'm not sure if that last stat is correct though. He looks bigger than that. l l We desperately need a big fwd in both height and weight. Charlie Curnow comes in at an inch taller than Jvr and 6 pounds more in weight. Like Curnow Jvr has a great leap. Turner not so much. More your stand and deliver type player. Jvr is as yet, not a complete certainty. His 24 season didn't continue on the same 23 trajectory. This year is a must breakout one for him and I think a lot of our success will depend on him. Alas it shouldn't be this way. Especially when we kept pulling him into the middle the poor bloke can't really establish his fwd credentials further. Something has to give. So we have four unknown commodities in our fwd line and one big time out of form and one midfielder we can't spare. #Jvr....still developing. #Disco....has shown promise. Very little senior experience. #Milkshake.... questions over his body. #Jefferson....one gamer. #Fritta....body language says it all lately. #Tracca...can't spare him and very inaccurate. I guess there is certainly on paper, a high amount of talent. Ithink it's going to happen one way or another. With Max aging we will see Jvr in the middle more and a glaring hole up fwd. Maybe Goody will go back to Petty but I think that would be a mistake. Is there any real harm in giving it a trial in a game we may have already sown up or an easy match up?
  21. They have been. But Fritta has fallen down with this lately and Jvr a little bit as well. Disco is very good.
  22. I think this post holds some merit. He's definitely got to be put on notice at some stage. Yes he has heaps in the bank but he really only played half of last year in good touch. I think he may have been injured which would account for the really bad look at times of seeing him just jog after opponents. He didn't seem to tackle too often either. He also goes to ground to easily and he's definitely not a wet weather specialist. But I'm not really sure we have a significant replacement. We definitely don't have anyone really sitting around that is a chance for a Coleman. To be fair to Fritta he's booted quite a few bags. Melksham would probably be the most similar like for like but I'm not sure where he is fitness/ injury wise. He's also pretty long in the tooth( whatever that really means). That's why I posted the May thread. But not many have agreed with it. Yea sure it's not ideal robbing the backline like we did with Petty. And that was a huge flop. But May is much stronger and has that core strength and we just don't have any forwards like that. Jvr may build more mass but he and Jeffo seem to be the leap and grab as opposed to the stand in the pack and hold them mold. Jvr, Petty and Fritta have always been moved out of position too easily. Although Roo does seem to be getting stronger. Fritta has always had to use his lighter frame with perfect timing the odd bump and has kicked so many out the back. He would be suitable on the wing now and then to get him into some form because he seems to be very much a confidence player. We have all be screaming for more fwds to be recruited and it's frustrating to see us rely so much on a handful of defenders. Even small fwds like Kozzie are lacking with Nibbler moving and Chandler doesn't score many anymore My kingdom for a Key 6.6 , 105 keg fwd that is accurate too. One who makes defenders nervously peep behind themselves. Fritta even seems to have even lost his accuracy. So yea It would be hard to justify him playing like he did Sunday for another month. What's going on with Disco?
  23. How's didn't go well but I'm not sure May id a good match. If Jvr and Fritta keep playing like they did, and we use Jvr in the middle, something will have to give.
  24. I think this a very valid point I didn't consider. Although he can be a tad predictable.πŸ˜€ Cheers.
  25. Yea agreed it was great to see Petty playing where he is so much more suited. It didn't work with Petty playing fwd so it may not work with May. Also our backline wasn't really stretched too much with the likes of Hogan not playing and the inclement weather. However people forget that May has played fwd before with the GCS. Also he is much stronger than Petty and would not get moved out of position as easily as Petty was at times. I just think it wouldn't hurt giving it a try. Thanks RbG.
