Neale Daniher ~ Australian of the Year
Well said Deevout. He is the personification of courage and strength. An incredible human being and despite the term being thrown around....a true inspiration.

2025 Prediction
Okay fellow Dlanders, I'm going to call that we will finish 6th this season. Hopefully we don't suffer too many injuries this year and our midfield gets back to its prime which sees us into the finals. I imagine that the giants and dogs slip out. Not long now. Go Dees.

Let's have a look at our '25 defence.
Our backline has been one of the best for a long time. Issues lately are a few players getting long in the tooth and some injury concerns. I'm more worried about our forward line again.

How is Turner travelling? He may be a surprise package this year.

The Go Home Factor
Umm...gee I don't know . Oh wait, maybe because it once landed us one of the best ruckmen in the comp.

The Go Home Factor
Yet ironically many Afl players don't suck at basketball. Outside of Irish footy , are there any codes that are compatible with ours? Ice hockey or MMA may be worth investigating simply to have a few off their chain when we play Cwood .

Replacing Kozzie while suspended
I think we have done fairly well in this department. Certainly in our premier year, it played a huge part. Particularly our half backs. But from our fullbacks too who are obviously not small in stature. But in the traditional sense of "goalsneaking" and the simple accumulation of our score, we have been and are now lacking . Looking at our flag year, shows a number of small players that contributed significantly in scoring in the role of crumbing around players like, Jackson, Tmac and Max...we had Kozzie, Sparticus, Nibbler and stretching to Langers, addingl around 90 sausage rolls. Fritta is an interesting player in that he can play a high flying tall and a small crumbing goalsneak. Kozzie was the main contributing player so if he's out there's not much left. I'll put Tracc in the same category as Fritta who is no slouch in kicking a few from out of nowhere.

The Go Home Factor
Possibly not. I'm happy to see the back of one of those players though We will however suffer from the absence of Anb. And as much as I would love Captain Hogan back, May has has been well worth it and a Keystone to our whole team. I just hope we can hold to Kozzie after his contract clicks over. Is players leaving is always a risk but it's not really that common given the amount of them. On the whole most posters here have been correct in stating that it's worked for our benefit than detract. I've sometimes wondered why clubs haven't looked at USA basketballers for ruckmen and NFL for some defenders. As an aside, I think our club has often been quite sympathetic and accommodating to players that have needed time off to go home on occasions.

Good post SoNS. Recruiting outside of Victoria has been very successful for us Especially the great Sean Wight and the superstar Jim Stynes. God rest their wonderful souls.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
I just really wanted to use the thumbs down response for the first time. I feel like Caesar.

Replacing Kozzie while suspended
Since Kozzie has been used in the middle quite a bit we seem to be lacking in small forwards. I thought Chandler was going to be a gold mine of goals when he started but he's more of a dynamic kind of flanker than a goalsneak. In any event Chandler hasn't really maintained the very high standards he set in his early games. Spargo has been reasonably consistent in this position but was played in different roles at times and that combined with injuries has seen him wanting in his earlier capacity. Anb has done well as a goalsneak but he too has been used , rightly I might add, in different roles. Gee we will miss him. McAdam while not really a type that would play this role hasn't really performed in any. Young Brown looks the goods but again the club has failed somewhat in solving another forward line issue. Given that Petty has really struggled to clunk marks, a successful crumber has been greatly missed. I wonder if it's worth rolling the dice with Bowey but probably a case of robbing Peter..... But the role of crumbing has become very important in the modern game and we seem to have come up short of shorts. Pun intended.

Spargo has been out for a while and Chandler starts with a bang but seems to lose form. Brown may be our best option after KP.

Trac cracked rib
I am concerned that while ribs heel quickly, if it's the same ribs compliments of Moore's knee, is it likely to happen again? Do they become as good as prior? I think all of this will test Tracc's mental fortitude. It could impact his confidence in his body and thus his game. Oh Cwood you pack of t#76$, another gift from them that keeps taking. And to think there were rumors about Tracc joining them. That game where Tracc was injured, was a missed opportunity to repay a few debts. Shame.

Trac cracked rib
Cracked ribs are worse than tennis elbow. But golfers balls is no laughing matter for sure. As for Achilles injuries, time wounds all heels.

Thanks 31. I'm curious how that mixed marriage went. Probably not advisable but did they at least follow the same codes?

That's just not cricket.
The older ex captain Virat Kohli's shoulder into the young new player for Oz, was a very poor act. He got off very lightly. Although the karma of the cricket God's caught up with him at least. Can't wait to see Konstas bat again.

Christian Petracca
I argued the angle issue at the time but was dismissed by not a few. I'm still convinced that a knee horizontally " planted" doesn't produce any further lift. But in full disclosure I'm obviously not a body movement expert or whatever the name of that guys position was bought in by cwood for the defence of Maynard. Certainly we need to be careful so as not to jeopardize the occurrence of the specky but we need to protect players from career ending injuries too. I can't say I've watched enough of Moore to claim he has form but I certainly won't agree that his knee action was a natural reaction to help facilitate a mark. So in agreeing that the action was not a natural football act in helping Moore achieve elevation, one has to wonder what his motivation was Perhaps there was none. Maybe he gets the benefit of doubt in that it's just a protection habit done out of muscle memory over the years. That said, it's not something one wants to see happen on a regular basis because it could have ended Trac's career and or someone elses. But as mentioned with a bob each way, it would be tricky to outlaw given the sanctity of the specky. But perhaps it should be examined. Like Maynard's so called smother, the old knee in the spleen routine to reach new heights, could in the feet of some, be used for "moore" sinister purposes if the magpies playbook so requires. I wouldn't be surprised if he did have form though. Not necessarily because he's not a good bloke but the rather due to the whole culture of thuggery celebrated by pies supporters as evidenced by their cheering when por Gus was lying prostrate in the middle of hallowed turf of the MCG. Sorry to be so negative during these times of festive holidays but a good deal of them are simply just dogs. In fact I take that back. That's an afront to the entire canine population.
