  1. Err given that the whole thread, aside from the petterd post, has been about Newton, who do you think it was in reference to?
  2. How can he be compared to Mclean?
  3. Cale sort of reminds me of a young Bruce. Gets in all the right places, knows how to get the footy, good mark, good goal sense, sometimes isn't as effective with the footy but he certainly has time, and probably more natural skill. Just hope he is able to become a great leader for the club, and get his kicking back to what it was a few weeks ago. He might be a bit tired, i bloody would be at this age running around in AFL
  4. If more memberships equals more work and therefore are detrimental to the club, i suppose we should stop the membership drive
  5. I've been saying since Robbo went down that i'm excited about what our forward line can now do. With mobile players who can all lead and mark, we can have a multi-functioning forwardline who are all pretty good kicks, especially as Miller improves. If the midfield can use the ball as well as Bailey needs them to, it could become pretty potent on a good day. Still needs a big body to make it a bit more consistent i think, a tall marking option who we can go to when desperate
  6. Or you could just have the, Dual Membership Club, where everyone buys a second membership. Would go close to wiping our debt and our membership would become 56,000. Donating this much money sounds like a pipe dream. I agree that as supporters we can help, and this momemtum could spill into better sponsorship etc., but really, our club is a business and should be run as such. It should be self sustainable and able to find its own avenues to get out of debt, albeit hopefully with a lot of supporter help
  7. How many bounces did Brock have? I thought that was a good part of his game yesterday, backed himself, had a bit of a run and i thought generally used it pretty well

    Herald Sun

They do the Sunday twilight game so Foxtel can have an early game that follows into the later game, and because apparently in a survey, fans said it was one of their preferred times, yeah right
  9. 6 Mclean 5 Garland 4 Green 3 Bruce 2 Wheatley 1 bit of a lottery, Bate ,White, Yze was good, have to go with Miller
  10. I said to my mate in the third "garland, our best forward option, unfortunately he's also our best back option" this was followed 15 minutes later by the claim that garland "is now our best midfielder too" A bit of a joke, but also a claim that this boy can play, is growing, and could become something special
  11. All over. I think our second half showed that we have more than enough to build from. That second quarter can come from any young side. Statistically if you take that out of the game, we win by 5 goals. Obviously it's not that easy, but with more experience, and more leadership, i think we could have eradicated that momemtum, and with not much else different, could have won this won. We have no experienced defenders, our forward line is cobbled together by mobile but unaccustomed players, it will take time but with each positive quarter we take a step ahead. That was a gutting loss, but i like that because it meands the team showed me they could have won, at least we're getting somewhere. Brad Green is a gun by the way. All in all, positive display, completely upset by just 10 minutes of footy. but at 1-11 if you're focusing on 10 minutes of bad footy over the potential of 70 minutes of good footy, you don't know much about our situation. Go the dees, i'll be driving up to Manuka to watch the boys
  12. Richo's a gun, he proves to be the difference so be it. But otherwise, we have a list that can stick it with Richmond, and will be better, and with good leadership i think we can beat them. The players stood up that quarter, played their own type of footy, and that's what happens. Win or lose, they must do it his quarter
  13. Well if Bailey can't be blamed, then I blame, Mahoney, Wellman, Williams, Bodan, the training staff and the bootstudder. Bailey's new catchcry: Bugger the result, just win the interchanges! Great post. Of course, the players can't be blamed for the lack of effort
  14. If a coach has no leader's on the field, then he has nothing to work with. How is a "super flood" great leadership, and if it is, why can't any of the players figure out that they needed to do it themselves? Rubbish to say it's Bailey, and he alone, who should provide leadership for this club
  15. How quickly would you like things to change? When we have no established backmen in the team, no key forward and a midfield with an average age that could barely get into an American nightclub. Give him time. I bet your were pretty happy in that first quarter. We just lacked the leadership to put a stop to the Tigers when they got a run on
  16. i don't mind so much that we're losing, but just the manner in which the team so quickly relinquished all control of the match is very disheartening. A lot will be revealed in the second half i think. It just seemed that after Bruce missed that goal, the rest of the team just stopped. Richmond were obviously on a roll, but no one in the red and blue actually stood up and took a stand. i hope we see a different level of intensity in the second half, and some leadership from a few players
  17. this is abysmal crap. where's the midfield pressure gone? 45 touches to 13 in 15 minutes. 10 of the last 11 bs
  18. our disposal has gone to [censored] again, letting them into the game
  19. Good quarter from brock, bartram and bruce. Bruce's kicking has looked much better, one bad handball but that'll happen with any player. Good intensity overall, just have to keep it up.
  20. Port Adelaide anyone? Brisbane anyone?
  21. I'll laugh when this happens and Vlad turns around and says "but that's only off the back of generous Collingwood supporters and the change of board" whilst continuing to applaud the Kangaroos membership numbers, which have grow at such a constant rate recently....
  22. Helpful Eastie, very helpful. I wonder what any marketing people in demonland can tell us what they think, whether they think the demon or melbourne fc is easier to market.
