Newport had nothing to do with Stephen Powell. We traded Newport to the Saints for their First Round pick which we used to recruit the amazing Jakovitch. Talk about mercurial!!!

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever

Ridiculous comment, you won't find one football person outside of the MFC family claiming that Melbourne won this trade. The best we'll get is that "whilst it doesn't look good now, it was deal that PERHAPS the Dees had to do at the time due to their pathetic situation. If you don't believe that we wouldn't have made finals this year with Kelly or Bontimpelli at the Dees instead of Tyson & Salem, then you have no idea. The facts are we could've taken Kelly or Bont with Pick 2 and Hunt with Pick 20. If you say Hunt was a stretch at 20, then do what other Clubs have done and turn 20 into 30 & 48 so you get your speculative pick because you know he'll be there. Your defense of Tyson will look silly when Maynard pushes him to Casey next year and Salem's lack of intensity and fierce desire has him at Casey with him. -

RPFC, aren't you forgetting we also gave away Pick 20 in this deal. Even now only the diehard Dees supporters are defending this trade. Tyson, slow & one sided. Salem lacks intensity, lacks leg speed and I'm not sure about his desire to build a midfield type engine, just a neat half back flanker. Roos with his one premiership by less than a kick, despite all the advantages enjoyed by the Swans is not always right. -
Lever to Dees, Trengove to Dogs, Kelly to re-sign, these are certain. Hawks are making a big play for Whitfield and are waiting for Board approval to be able to offer up the player that will be required to possibly get the deal done. If the Board approves, it will be Rioli & Duryea for Whitfield.

I personally don't believe Kent has much trade value but I wonder would we get Gaff if we were to bundle him with Pick 27 this year as well as our 2nd round pick next year? I believe Gaff fills a critical need. A hard running, hard working Winger who kicks well. If we can bring Lever & Gaff straight into the 18 for next year, we are significantly improved.
-
Genuine pace & can kick well on both sides. Just what we need.
-
I absolutely agree on the concept of bringing in an experienced, AFL ready & proven player, however, I think it needs to be someone that has some pace over the ground as we sure don't need another player who lacks pace to add to the long list we have. A de-listed Free Agent like Henderson who Hawks picked up last year to replace Hill on one wing would've been perfect for us. There will be more de-lists this year that will be an upgrade on Harmes, Salem, JKH, Vince, etc who you just can't trust to play two consecutively good games.
-
You just keep yelling Go Dees and enjoy your cheese platter Daily Dose. I'll keep abusing this weak bunch of pretenders until they show some backbone over consecutive weeks.

Trade Tom Mac & keep Frost.
-
Tyson's first 3 possessions were turnovers as usual but at least he got his hands on it, Harmes, Hannan, Tom Mac & Vince were absolutely putrid and 15 others weren't much better. Only Petracca, Lewis & Melksham could really hold their heads high. Really miss Frost's run out of defence. Apart from Hunt, all our defenders really lack leg speed. Oscar, Jetta, Tom Mac, Salem, Hibberd, Lewis are all slow and don't provide any dash.
-
Absolutely smashed in the midfield. Harmes hasn't touched it, Hannan has his usual 5 minute cameo, Tom Mac was nearly our worst again, really missed Frost's run out of the backline, field kicking was D Grade. Lever would be nice but gee we need some serious young midfielders as Vince is gone and the end is coming quickly for a couple of others.

I was in some sort of Melbourne membership for a couple of seasons that sat around that Bay N12 N13 and to be honest I stopped going because it was so sterile and boring. I love a bit of the banter & cut & thrust between opposition supporters. I found that N13 area to be very much the "go dees" brigade and you even got a tut tut should you dare get stuck into the white maggots. I guess you can't take the old VFA days out of the boy

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
goodwindees replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jake is certainly making plenty on this site eat a lot of humble pie! -
That's what some of us have been trying to say. Lever would be nice, but we need to use those high picks on classy, quick mids!!!!!'
-
Forget about Spencer being a replacement for Max, that role would fall to Pederson as surely everybody knows Spencer is a complete dud!
-
Dappa Dan FCS get a life champ. WJD said it was laughable to say Wagner has played super footy at AFL level. That statement is correct. His summary of Kent is spot on and the fact he'd get on the pizz, surely doesn't warrant your long winded reply.
-
I notice That a debutant Ruckman for Port Melbourne won the BOG medal against Jake Spencer. And some fools on this site believe he is AFL standard. FCS Melbourne get rid of him.
-
One of your absolute worst Joeboy. Hibberd was resolute under enormous pressure and Tyson battled manfully.
-
Spencer was beaten by Mark Pittonet. Couldn't believe some fool wrote on this site earlier this week that Spencer is the best back-up ruckman in the league. Spencer wouldn't be in the Top 10 back-up ruckman in the league. Hawks alone have 2 better back-ups in Ceglar & Pittonet.
-
Fritsch has reminds me of a young Buckenara. Woul be happy to use a 4th rounder/pick in the 60's on him this year.
-
That Melbourne has wasted years and years with Spencer. Have never understood how Spencer has been on an AFL list for more than 1 season, 2 at the most and his non selection proves he must be moved on at seasons end. Selectors won't even choose him over a 193 cm key position journeyman!! The Spencer experiment must surely be nearly over.
-
In - Gawn/Spencer, Wagner & Stretch Out - O Mac, Harmes & ANB I'm an O Mac fan, think he'll be a very solid defender in time, however, in certain situations for team balance, he's the one that makes way when you don't need 3 tall defenders. Harmes & ANB are just terrible with ball in hand.
-
The Lions may still be interested given that those 2 are so young & developing. Some Clubs will be interested purely because he is 200 cm and can play forward/ruck. I'd rather him than Spencer but you'd need to give him a thorough physical and really determine if there is still a desire to compete.
-
Tippett is nothing like $800k this year. His contract was very front loaded. He's finished at the Swans it all depends on what his new Club wants to pay. I suspect Lions will lure him home to Qld particularly if they lose that young forward.
-
Have a very good source at the Swans and let me assure you that these 3 are gone at end of the year. Swans want them out at almost any price. Josh Kennedy has had a big blue with Tippett over his lack of physicality. All came to a head against Hawks when big Kurt was the only player that didn't buy into the crash into Luke Hodge at every opportunity strategy. Not only wouldn't do it but criticised it as a strategy. Playing group has lost trust in Rohan, some even call him Whiskas. They've also come to conclusion that Reid is more of a distraction and sick of him not being able to complete games It's easy to be seduced by all 3 as at their best they all have what we need but each represent a significant risk. I guess it depends on what you'd have to trade and pay
