  1. dees easily.. i hate to say that. but believe that we should go in confident against most teams. they ain't playing great. i reckon this we're gonna continue our run & be entrenched in the 4 by the end of the weekend.

Salem was never soft at the ball, unlucky for a couple of years, but never soft.

I hope he plays in the middle on Saturday night. His kicking could create many scoring oportunities

i recall a match against the bulldogs a few years ago (maybe winter 2014, i think it was the pink lady match?). it was close and tense towards the end (they ended up skipping away towards the end). i was at the game and salem lost a few one on one contests against the young dogs that cemented in my mind his softness. admittedly, the fact that he hasn't played inside since has contributed to not altering this in my mind.. i agree he is now hard. and i hope that now he has the body and we have other skilled backmen, he gets a chance to play a role in our midfield.

I mentioned a couple of years ago Salem being as hard as Jack Viney. He is. Always was. Just that Salem didn't have the body for it - so we played him down back where he could use his outside game. Now Salem is maturing we are starting to see his inside game. I have always believed he has a better inside - than outside - game. He is see ball get ball, a good tackler, and has great hands on the inside of a contest. I watched him as a junior. We ain't seen nothing yet IMO.

as hard as viney?! pleeeease! so out of ten contests you reckon it'd be 5 & 5 between viney & salem?... how about between oliver & salem? i reckon viney & oliver would smash him. but don't get me wrong, he's been very tough the past few weeks and playing a lot harder than viney (who hasn't hit his straps this season). i agree he has only recently built up his body for afl and that's why he was played down back (in addition to his foot skills, which have never been in question). glad to hear that you rate him as much inside as outside, i look forward to the next few years and him destroying teams like he has the past few weeks. as long as he plays at his current level i'll be stoked. if he goes better, i'll be in love. glad he's resigned for sure.

  4. salem has really impressed me this year with his hardness and pressure acts.. couldn't help but think he was a bit soft the past few years. not anymore! wins his own ball too, which is a bonus. hopefully that thyroid issue never comes back again!

  5. if anyone is watching/listening to this game, how's kieran collins going for the dogs? i remember him being a big lump of a lad leading into his draft year and had hoped we might've got him.. there's been all this talk of lever and day, but how's he goin? obviously not great if he's in vfl..

That statement just flawed me. It makes you seriously question the knowledge of these guys especially as you say Howe made a big thing about how Buckley said he could play forward as against Roos playing him down back as the big reason for leaving Melbourne.

Takes the marks which looks great on TV but as we know with our own Oscar Mc it is what you do then that is most important. Would be interested to know his disposal efficiency over the years. Anyway.. wish him well in all games except against us !!

they're hopeless.. on radio and tv. as long the commentators get to ask gawn *zany* questions about his beard ? the old players still have no respect for us. but it'll come. once we're entrenched in the 8 year after year, they'll know alllll about us!

  7. interesting... i recall he was predicted to be taken by us at the pick we eventually took weideman at..8? from memory he has a basketball background (that famous line) and was quite quick between the ears.. could be add a bit of class to our list for sure. doubt freo would let him go for a 4th rounder though! they took him in the teens didn't they?

Oscar will be a great player for the dees whether in defence or forward.

forward? he's no where near physical enough.. he still looks like a frightened kid out there. seriously. he has a better kick than his brother (which doesn't say much) but i seriously cannot see what people see in him.. yeah the coaches are playing him, but what are the other options? i reckon he'll be gone in a year or two. seems like a nice kid, but just soft and apprehensive. he'd never take intercept marks like jack leslie did late in the game against the eagles yesterday..

    Surely not Aliir?

If kosher - is the source keeping mum on the specific target or doesn't know exactly - other than perhaps members of our recruiting team boarding north-bound flights? 'North of the Murray' is a curious phrase if it were known to be a Qld-based target.

    tomlinson?

One thing I loved today which hasn't been spoken about is dom tysons aggression, I thought he really stepped it up today and some of his tackles were brutal, he's been to easy to get passed until this week

absolutely! i've always seen him as a soft, easy ball kinda guy.. he was dare i say it.. intimidating ?

Geez we need to get Rocky onto our coaching panel really quickly: obviously sees and knew far more that two senior AFL coaches.

again.. fan forum. opinions. faaaaark me. he did good things, but his bad just aren't worth it, for ME.

furthermore, if we'd beenplwyk g a half decent side, the 'style' T-Mac uses would've led to maaaaany goals

Not sure which of the above is worse here... Tmac was in our best half dozen, played a key role roaming the ground.. And white ? If he gets another game again this club has gone backwards

t-mac was trash. just floating around going third man up doesn't take much skill. his foot skills and decision-making suck. hopefully we trade him for a reliable defender in next year or two. i'd hate to see a tight GF with him in the team. i included a '?' after white, as i couldn't think of another defender at the time. after reading the vfl report, perhaps wagner would be a better fit.

Watched hibberd train other day and it was mentioned by another seasoned observer that he doesnt seem interested. I kept an eye on him after this was mentioned and the glove seemed to fit...

Doesnt get around the boys, appears a little overweight and not very happy.

    That was firsthand impression.

Melksham on the other hand is the complete opposite, happy to talk, hasnt missed a session and my guess will go on to play at least another 100 games for us.

I wish that i could give hibberd a glowing report however i reckon the game might have gone past him especially the speed its played atm so will be a mighty effort to get back to form as we would be a much better team with hibberd in our lineup

maybe his resting face is 'uninterested'.. as long as he stays fit and gets back into it, he should be ok.

We are seriously going in undermanned against Saints next week, how unlucky are we to have 3 CHB go down? Id love to see Joel Smith thrown in the deep end to play on McCartin or Bruce, I think we are screwed in this part of the ground.

i agree.. and even when we do, we don't! must be focus of next trade period..
