  1. It is pretty clear...Roos to this point is an Administrator and has employed people to do specific jobs and 'rebuild' the club...all good, but enough is enough, it's high time Roos starts to 'coach the players through the week' and 'coach the team' on game day!

He is not a 'coach to the players', what he is very good at is selling his vision to the players. This provided initial enthusiasm to the players and MFC supporters, but when the 'vision' becomes clouded because people who are paid to a lot to do a certain job can't or don't, things start to go bad!

Leading Teams have been at Melbourne at the beginning of the year...maybe a few home truths are more than overdue here and it's time to get them back!

    Points in case...
Dawes paid what $600+ and kicks 6 goals so far this year, 10 last season!
Garland (500k) plays like he doesn't care...
Grimes comes out and says I do feel like it was a wake-up call and something I needed when left out of the team in the first round...a wake up call...s##t sake, a wake up call...hello!
Watts - runs around pointing and telling other where to go but doesn't do the things he needs to himself, like tackle, chase, get a contested ball...
Howe - runs around like he's auditioning each week for a new club, it doesn't hurt him to lose the game he thinks it's not his issue or problem as he won;t be there next year anyway
Gawn - needs to hurt some opposition players

Midfield - need to go out on a blind date with each other so they get to know who's who!

Hogan - Run man, run...it's one to stand and take a mark, but when you don;t and your opponent has the ball, get him, pressure him, stop him!

Tyson - learn to run faster, too slow
Lumumba - has no idea he is going to get the ball and when he does has even less idea of what he's going to do with it!

McDonald - Same as Lumumba, gets it and forgets there is an opposition and takes 2-3 more steps than he should, gets cornered and turns it over because he put himself under pressure by going too far!

I feel sorry for the likes of Brayshaw, Petracca, Jones, Cross, Vince and a select other few...they must be thinking holy crap what am I doing here!!

Answer is simple, time for Roos to show he's a Super Coach, one who can teach and who 'coaches' the players to play the game, not administer the club and it's structures, that's what our highly paid CEO is paid to do!

  2. Come to play means putting in 100% effort 100% of the game and playing cohesively. When players are constantly behind their opponents and refuse to run hard both ways, refuse to run hard to create options and spread from a contest, that is "not coming to play".

You can only give 100% and play cohesively when you know what you are expected to do.

When the opposition step outside the 'expected norm' the Melbourne guys don't know what to do or how to react as they are too scared to step outside the Thursday night game plan, which looked great on paper!

That's why on 'game day' Melbourne are out coached more weeks than not! All an opposition coach has to do to gain the ascendancy over Melbourne is...throw one behind the ball, pressure their half backs/mid field, force them to bomb it inside 50 and your spares sitting back will clear it and transition the ball from half back to half forward without any pressure to a forward leading up at the ball!

  3. We are better than them but if they come out pumped up and really want to win, then we will lose for sure. We get intimitdated far too easily in a big fight no matter the quality of opposition.

Come on...we are not better than anyone the way we play...no doubt there are some talented kids in the team, but if they are not allowed to 'play footy' the way they know and were taught in their junior ranks...that is man on man, beat your opponent, they will never be more than once good junior footballers.

Look at what Melbourne have done to Jack Watts, Jack Grimes, Jack Trengove, Jeremy Howe, James Frawley, and soon to be added will be Hogan, Brayshaw, vandenberg, Salem, Toumpas and the list will continue, every bit of confidence they had in themselves as footballers and probably as a people has or is being taken out of them!

Wake up and Coach on game day to win...man on man, beat your opponent...simple!

  4. If they stick to the plan, most of the time, there's no need for a plan B. Bring tackling pressure, win the footy in close and move the ball quickly. Very simple plan really. Oh and kick straight.

There is no plan...if the opposition run out different to the team lineup published in the paper on Friday morning we are stuffed....and don't tell me our spare man in defence works when the opposition throws one back...come on, man on man, beat your direct opponent and if everyone does that you win! It's not rocket science, is football!

  5. Every Hawthorn player has great team understanding. They all work together as a team. Until we start to work together as a team, we won't make finals, let alone crack the top 10.

The thing about the Essendon game was had we come to play we would have won. Had we kicked straight, we still would have won. We didn't bother addressing the spare Essendon player, because it shouldn't have had an affect.

What does come to play mean??...they come to play every week, the problem is they get the confidence knocked out of them because there is no plan B on game day and they look lost and uninterested!

  6. Post Match should be a focus on what's going on in the coaches box! Forget the missed shots, we were out coached again, the same as we were against Collingwood! It's easy to beat Melbourne, drop an extra man in defence, put some mid field pressure on them and they'll bomb it in, ball goes to either the spare man, or to ground, weight of numbers wins out!

Seriously, forget winning anytime soon unless our coaches, learn to coach on game day...don't go blaming Hogan and Co, they are out number at the contest every week...they are destroying any confidence these young blokes have bit by bit each week...come on get with it fellas and learn the lesson!!!!
