  1. What a dog of a player he was, one of the dirtiest I've seen. Hated him with a passion after he whacked Smith in front of me.

Would love to have him as coach, badly wanted him to replace Bailey.

A little ironic that you'd be decrying his tactics , whilst feting a total ball player with your name here- Grinter was far from an angel for all those too young to recall.

And for the record , I advocated Mathews as coach about a month ago

  2. Trengove - just a game

    N.Jones - wonderful first half

    Watts - time to decide

    Dawes - impressed and delivered

    Frawley - great under duress

    McKenzie -below required standard

    Dunn - struggled for effectiveness

    Rodan - justified his inclusion

    Strauss - rarely imbued confidence

    Garland - continued toiling manfully

    Pederson - not all negative

    Macdonald - was rarely sighted

    Evans - had few possessions

    Kent - some promising touches

    Terlich - composure was needed

    Fitzpatrick - cause for optimism

  3. 6 - Dawes ( terrific game considering the horrible presentation he was given )

5 - Frawley ( loved his passion and will to not let Franklin succeed)

    4 - N.Jones ( terrific first half )

3 - Howe ( all class , but easily put off his game)

    2 - Garland ( continued his good year )

    1 - Davey ( elite disposal , and played with passion )

  4. 6- Howe ( Fantastic all day . Skills were sublime )

    5 - M.Jones ( Far from outstanding , but our only successful runner )

    4 - Frawley ( overwhelmed , but focused all day )

3 - Trengove ( actually looked fit and played accordingly , though was still swamped )

2 - McKenzie ( hard at it all game , but rarely hurt opposition )

1 - Jamar ( merely for weight of knockouts , but unfortunately little support from onballers )

  5. Trengove - regained some flair

    N.Jones - couldn't shake tag

    Watts - welcome to go

    Tapscott - nowhere near standard

    Davey - interested but flawed

    Gawn - had no involvement

    Howe - a wonderful game

    Jetta - was probably playing

    Jamar - just a dinosaur

    Bail - had no impact

    M.Jones - tried , lacks polish

Terlich - tried , lacks composure

    Magner - tried, lacks ability

  6. 6 - Davey ( creative and sublime disposal )

5 - Frawley ( loves the Riewoldt contest , and held his own despite the regularity of entry)

4 - Dunn ( good at both ends , and his kicking to advantage was noted )

3 - Howe ( excellent with the ball, but I wish he'd get it more)

2 - Terlich ( sees ball and gets it )

    1 - Magner ( an encouraging return )

  12. Just got home from the game .

    Not disastrous .

Positives: Rodan - lots of class , speed , creativity and strength

Byrnes - knows where to go; understands the fall of the ball

Nicholson - showed nothing to suggest he deserves a game ( this IS a positive )

Dunn - continued his resurgence ; easily our best player and kick

Sylvia - started to get some touches

Best : Dunn, Jones , Rodan, Sylvia , Jamar ( dominated the hit outs against no opposition )

  13. My first comments for quite a while, and my first attendance at training this pre-season.

Undoubtedly, the most outstanding aspect of this morning's training for me was to see an energetic, involved, and enthusiastic Aaron Davey. He was running, chasing, and tackling as we remember him from 3-4 seasons ago, and he was far and away the most effective ball user on the field, even kicking a wonderful 50m goal on the run from the boundary.

Another highlight was Fitzpatrick turning Junior McDonald inside out as he grabbed the ball at centre half forward , then backed his confidence to outsprint his more highly regarded opponent over 30 meters before kicking the goal.

I like how Watts has finally broadened his frame to man- size proportions , and thoroughly enjoyed seeing Viney assert himself at every contest.

Like others here, I was very disappointed with the kicking skills, though Casey Fields tends to bring the worst out of most players' disposal levels.

No complaints about the endeavor of all, though this should go without saying at this time of the year.

I'm looking forward to returning with my 3 word player analyses soon.
