You let yourself down with this one… don’t rush, take a deep breath and think! Culley is an elite kick, can get up there for a good grab, and is tough in the clinches… I could go on but I’m stopping to breathe!
You’re referring to his capabilities generally, whereas I’m referring to his performance yesterday, which is the point of this exercise.

It’s obviously a very delicate matter and if it didn’t involve one of our very favourite ex players we probably wouldn’t care less, but at the end of the day are we happy to have a high profile sponsor like this or not, bearing in mind that they’re still a business that needs to make a profit, without acting illegally or irresponsibly

I look at him and think, he is a good size, seems powerful, is reasonably quick, good runner, good above head and has neat skills. But I just don’t get why he can’t put it all together. Athletically he is miles above Viney. But when the ball is bounced- couldn’t be further from him.
It must just be an attitude thing.
Unlikely an ‘attitude’ thing but rather an ability thing

The positive for me was the ability to fight back, to some degree, and not be completely embarrassed. Melbourne sides of the past wouldn’t have done that.
I have a few concerns though. Mainly with the plateauing of some young talent. Windsor, Lindsay and Langford were all poor last week and again last night.
Then there is the elephant in the room. Pickett x2. One has personal issues that may be affecting his output. His head doesn’t seem in the game for the full four quarters. We are paying a lot for a bloke who seemingly has a few cameos and the occasional match winning game. Then there is his cousin, who we spent a very high pick on, who bolted up the draft after playing a handful of SANFL games. It’s looking like he may be capable of the freakish, but his general skill level is poor. That’s a high price to pay for Harlem globetrotter cameo stuff. And, I think the question is fair - did Kozzy wield influence over the list management team as part of his contract. If so, that’s poor. I hope both of them shine in the rest of the season, but right now, neither look as if they are turning our fortunes around. Kozzy needs to win the ball in the middle more often and use it. Caught between reaching in and trying to extract it in razzle dazzle fashion and waiting on the outside for someone else to extract and give it to him in space
I agree, and further to the older cousin’s output is that his disposals are often haphazard whereas they used to regularly be almost centimeter perfect

PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast
in Melbourne Demons
The feel good win probably saves LPickett this week, possibly also the fact that there’s nobody banging the door down at Casey yet to take his role.
