From a playing group 100% agree first steps have been taken. However, at this stage we have restructured using AFL money and the ship is being steered by AFL approved people. The big challenge will come when our destiny returns to our membership. Spurned - rehabilitated depends on their course of action, where in the past they have been a destructive, conservative group reluctant to embrace change - focused on instant gratification. Some may argue selfish short term interests.

In any journey you must take the first step. The first step is always the most difficult for some. Age will make you better or it will make you bitter. The MFC have more than their fair share of bitter followers. Bitter people build a culture of negativity, criticism, hostility, distrust and hesitation that ultimately is rejected by the good people. Good people build good football clubs. Now there is a dose of realism.

Consider this Whatever happened yesterday, you might have lost a game; today you start a fresh new game, the score is 0:0. Learn to think like a winner. Think positive and visualize your strengths. What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. It's better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right.

The mental scars are not restricted to our playing group, some of our supporters have much deeper, untreated mental scars.

Looks like we are going to have to agree to disagree. I dont think there is a player in the AFL that does not give 100% Why some clubs are perennially competitive and we are perennially terrible does not all sit at the feet of the players. True the score board is the ultimate judge but many factors influence a scoreboard these days.

You can believe what you want to believe. Have you ever considered our players are only 75% fit vs the 100% fitness levels that their opponents go at. Take a guess what our players have been doing all pre-season? Have you ever considered. Nearly every other club at the top of the ladder, pumps unlimited resources, regardless of talent levels into their lists. Have we ( we as a club the MFC ) let our players down?

Nothing but a bunch of silly old whinging bastards. Cant wait till we start winning to shut you morons up.

What do we stand for? Misogynist old boys club, conservative reacts poorly to change, bitter, anger, frustrated. Not trusted by the governing body of the competition, the AFL, to elect its own board and hence competently run its own affairs. Overtly political. Perceived ageing male dominated membership. Due to prolonged poor on-field performance is no longer relevant to the youth of today. Moving closer to its used by date, unless MFC can become competitive in memberships, sponsorships and gate receipts with other major Victorian clubs. Resilient core group that have done an amazing job mentally to remain loyal and positive. Empathy / Sympathy from the public due to us being the founding forefathers of the competition but their patience is running thin - bad media ie tanking, poor recruiting , incompetent board selections etc has created an external believe of self inflicted problems. Glimmer of hope with Roos and Jackson culture and on-field performance can be fixed. Have time but the clock is ticking. Winning will help but it will not solve all the issues.
