  1. Nah, Freo are pretty poor compared to that Geelong team. We are playing similarly to the Dees of '11. This has 79 point loss written all over it.
  2. Are you talking about the players or the coach? Sad isn't it. He'll be off to the U.S in a year. 4.5 million dollars richer.
  3. Similar results but Bailey did a hell of job with Schwab and Connelly hanging over him.
  4. I don't mind losing (used to it) but this is so painful to watch. 1 goal in a half, isn't good enough. Watching St Kilda last night, we are a long way off improving. Last year both 4 wins. They've improved. We've won a few more games.
  5. Roos 'They players expected to win because Carlton is last.'
  6. If Roos was fair dinkum, Howe wouldn't be playing games after some of his poor efforts this year. You have to set the standard for the team, even if it's at the cost of losing his trade value. Look at Carlton and Yarran.
  7. The difference between Salem and Grimes right there. Salem strong in the contest. Grimes has the body strength of Mr Burns. So fragile.
  8. You keep providing players with excuses they'll keep taking them. I expect more for 1.5 million. Titus O'Reilly puts it best: A typical Paul Roos post-game media conference Reporter: Paul, the Demons were terrible again today. Horrible in fact. Paul Roos: Weren’t they? Just really bad. One of the worst games I’ve watched. A lot of the players just didn’t show up. I remember at Sydney we always worked really hard to play all four quarters. Reporter: Does this change your opinion of where the team is at? Roos: Melbourne’s players need to start thinking about their commitment. Melbourne currently aren’t a very good team. Other teams like the Bulldogs and St Kilda are just further ahead in their development. Reporter: How’s that? Arguably you’ve had better picks and more time to improve. Roos: That’s why Melbourne need to just keep coaching them. When I was at Sydney we had the defence in place and then we built on top of that. Reporter: But other teams are skipping ahead of you and despite small improvements you’ve got a better list than Neeld but the growth is arguably as glacial as it was under him. Roos: Absolutely. Melbourne as a club needs to have a good hard look at themselves. At Sydney we were always really honest. I won a premiership there. Reporter: There were several quarters where no Melbourne players had a possession, is that a worry? Roos: I think that’s just a reflection of where Melbourne is as a club and Melbourne fans just need to accept that. It’s a process Melbourne need to go through. Reporter: But there were two quarters were several opposition players didn’t have anyone playing on them at all. The opposition’s worst player had three opponents on him for a quarter and still ended up with twenty possessions. Roos: That was the players’ fault, I sent the message out but they didn’t listen. Reporter: But isn’t that sort of your job? To make sure things like that don’t happen? Roos: Look, the tough thing for Melbourne is that the players have already gone on their end-of-season break, mentally that is. Reporter: To be honest, it looks like they’ve been on that for the past eight years. I guess you’ll refund all the Melbourne members for the last three games then? Roos: Are you kidding? We’ve got to pay a pretty hefty salary Source: http://titusoreily.com/a-typical-paul-roos-post-game-media-conference/
  9. Why does it matter, they don't have Gibbs, Yarran, Henderson, Dale Thomas and big Levi and are 5 goals up. If that's not an indictment on the players, coaches and club nothing is. Sick of excuses. We should win they game by 50 at least. They lost the Brisbane by ten goals.
  10. I need some strength in resolve, some accountability that we will improve. Roos needs to put his reputation on the line. This has been something he has never fully done with us since the beginning. By only committing to three years max, my concern wasn't whether Roos would be a competent coach but rather he didn't have the confidence in himself that he could get the job done. He didn't want to tarnish his reputation as the 'messiah'. Every time I hear him talk it feels like someone frantically protecting his reputation. I look forward to Goodwin being coach, not because he'll be a better coach then Roos but because he'll have to to put his reputation on the line. He'll have no choice, his reputation and coaching future will depend on his results at Melbourne and that will make him ravenous in his pursuit of excellence. Its the old theory of fight or flight, Roos doesn't have to fight for his future or reputation merely preserve it. I believe that if this was Roos first coaching gig you'd see a more hungry Roos who would never put out the excuses he has, he'd be more ruthless at selection and ultimately I think the side would be performing better. For me this experiment has been a huge disappointment thus far and no where near worth the 4.5 million dollar investment.
  11. Dogs are bloody amazing story though. Lost their captain, brownlow medallist, coach and CEO all at the end of last year. Now look at them.
  12. Every time Bail and Matt Jones have made a mess of things and it shows a close up of anguished faced Roos. I can't help but think 'told ya they suck'.
  13. I could stomach the margin more if we were playing a lot of kids. However by selecting Matt Jones and Rohan Bail, Roos is putting emphasis on immediate results ahead of development. The 3 year tenure always made me weary of this.
  14. I'm not angry, they are just too good. Really good to watch. Last week, we were shocking to start and North were average. The dogs are playing some of the best footy I've seen this year. I take my hat off.
  15. Oh dear. I'm sad now. Whats happened to my life. I'm having an internet battle on a football forum on a Saturday night. This is the lowest of the low. I need a boy again, I need to improve my life choices, I'm off to drink!
  16. I annoyed you, like he annoyed me. I win.
  17. That's the point. Posts like that are annoying aren't they.
  18. Dude, you really are a witty fellow. Jon Stewart has retired and needs a replacement with cutting edge political satire. Please! Please! Get in contact with the Daily Show, before it's too late. That comment is so original, so funny, I'm struggling to breathe.
  19. To be a little downer. Last year we beat. Richmond - made finals. Essendon - made finals. Adelaide (in Adelaide) just missed finals. The level of team we beat isn't my issue, consistency is. Ask North Melbourne fans what angers/frustrates them about their side. It isn't the level they 'can' reach, rather their consistency of effort. When we win when we should and beat those above us, we've taken the next step. Until then we are very much in and around the bottom few IMO. A good win shouldn't paper over the Saint Kilda & Essendon results, it should reinforce them.
  20. Totally agree. However, imagine next week beating the Roos by four goals comfortably like its just a another win. That happens, we've definitely improved. It's not only a measurable improvement but a huge mental improvement. Good sides are consistent! We aren't! A good game every now and then isn't enough for me any more! Call me greedy!
  21. Yeah, to be fair booing being in the headlines has made everyone more aware of it. So they booed more and we where more aware of the booing. Lets not mix things up, they're some unintelligent Collingwood supporters out there. However, it was beautiful when none of the Collingwood nuffies were booing H when he was having his shot at goal in the last quarter. We had broken them. Soooo good.
  22. Totally agree, personally I'll only believe we've 'improved' until we win 2 in a row. Improvement for me is measured from our mental strength as much as our statistical improvement.
  23. Yeah it happened, to be fair it wasn't all the Collingwood supporters (I was there with two), just the usual lower class missing teeth ones. Just got back, the game was scrappy and we were OK, Collingwood were pathetic. We played better on Queens Bday but I'd take a win over a good performance any time. The thing that I loved the most today was Nathan Jones. When you're the best player you get taken for granted some times but being at the game you just couldn't avoid this blokes importance to the side, from his ball winning ability to his on field leadership to that final show of solidarity (Yes I'm a Goodes supporter, please don't boo me!) It was a defining day for the bloke and it shouldn't be glossed over. A TRUE CAPTAIN. SHOWING TRUE LEADERSHIP. FINALLY!
