Gosch's paddock was beautiful this morning.

Harris and O'Hehir on light duties, finished their session on the bike.

Purcell continues with rehab, starting to load up by carrying weights.

Colvin on light duties.

Beasley joined the main group, as well as Gall.

Hose continues to participate in the drills and some of the sims.

Goldrick turned up midway through, with a trainer. Gave the thumbs up to indicate she was good to go (guess work). Did run throughs for the rest of the session.

The day had a fair bit of competition, from the warm-up with fun and wins, to drills where they had different coloured tops and contended with each other.

The drills included: Leading and marking in the forward area, with an opposition. Starting scrimmages high up in the forward 50 and scrambling towards goal. Two groups in a small perimeter, where a player attempts to break through tackles.

In the sims, a main group played against the trainers/coaches.

A small group would flood/swarm as they moved the ball off half-back and moved it quickly into the congested forward area.

The sims seem to emphasise entry into the 50, holding it in and creating multiple entries.

They are up and ready, displaying intensity, high standards and professionalism.

The joy was obvious at appropriate times.

Kate Roffey (past president) turned up to support them, stayed for the entire time and gave out numerous hugs and encouragements.

Go Dees

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
