Trengrove set to skip camp.

Featured Replies

TOP-THREE draft prospect Jack Trengove will skip the NAB AFL Draft Camp in Canberra this week to remain in Adelaide and train with his teammates ahead of Sturt’s SANFL grand final clash with Central Districts on Sunday.

Trengove, 18, starred in Sturt’s shock preliminary final win over Glenelg on the weekend, finishing with 29 possessions and eight marks including a match-winning grab in the dying minutes.

The South Australian U18 captain now has a chance to complete a premiership trifecta with the Double Blues, having won flags with the club’s U17s and Reserve sides in the past two years.

Glenelg teenager Alex Carey will also be absent from the Australian Institute of Sport this week as he prepares to line-up for the Bays in the Reserves grand final.

Both Trengove and Carey will attend the South Australian state screening session in November.

He has already proven himself worthy as being the second pick, I see no problem with him playing a grand final instead of attending the draft camp. 29 touches and a match-winning mark, this kid is going to be something special. No doubt about it.
