  1. A work friend of mine was on the Hawks draft table for some time, including when they had all those selections that got them the 2008 GF. I remember getting out of the car that work morning after the 2001 draft and sympathising with me about Molan, "Perhaps the best player, but his body is broken". He will never play!
  2. I'll go Luke Molan at #9. There are probably worse efforts at other clubs.
  3. You are not interested in what happens to players after they have left the club you follow? Many people are, irresepective on how they performed.
  4. I've never thought Jordie's kicking to be as bad as you people mention. Then again I sometimes forget to take my optical glasses to the footy. Did find this comment on the MFC website July 2009 He has impressed as an offensive or defensive midfielder this season, with his clearance work, running ability and kicking skills earning praise from within the club.
  5. Gregory was the first Tiwi Islander to win the Nichols medal, which is the NTFL equivalent of the Brownlow.
  6. I'm sure someone posted that some of the players had the intention of catching up with Wona. Be great if the whole squad went.
  7. Very strange times, and glad my boys (now men) didn't have to go through. Unfortunately, I didn't follow up athletics, unlike you.I have no qualms, with this program. I'm loving the idea of the Kakadu Hike.
  8. They were good times, but Vietnam intervened for me. University provided exemption, which was probably the best option as my number was picked out. Gough Whitlam was elected some months later. Not much point in thinking what may have happened some 40 years ago, but they were tumultuous, and my adult sons don't understand.
  9. Yeah. I was doing it with Ron Clarke, Tony Cook, John Kneen (lesser known but won the New York Marathon). Coach was a primary teacher, Frank McMahon. I remember Frank seeing De Castella as a 15yo at a Sunbury cross country meet (there were few houses then), and picked him straight off as a champ.
  10. Our top distance athletes of the 1960-70's used to train at Ferny Creek (in the Dandenongs) for the advantages of being 1500 ft (500 mts) above sea level
  11. Love the hard copy. I have years of them. Just great to pull one off the shelf, if you are sitting around talking Melbourne footy with friends. Perhaps a check box on the M'ship form if you don't want a hard copy
  12. It was supposed to be announced a few days ago. Matt Fieldsend is a huge loss.
  13. Stingrays is not my real name, but it is not a nickname, it is a nom de plume. Totally different.
  14. I agree WJ. The player eligibility comes in at Finals time. This is usually the second round of VFL finals, as the final round of AFL is usually the first round VFL finals.
  15. I hate nicknames. I don't understand opposition teams forums.
  16. He would be a rookie, so not eligible to play unless promoted. Develop him for two years at Casey. Jamar, Spencer and Jolly were all ruckman from our Rookie list.
  17. I've noticed Shannon Byrnes spelled has Brynes quite a lot. Could be because the 'r' and 'y' are only one key apart.
  18. Very short at 193cm for a ruckman. I know he did fill in a bit at North where he could use his bulk, but I don't think 'muscling in' is allowed anymore in ruck duels.
  19. Not only that, they offer you the firing squad.
  20. I so often think that this whole thing revolves around Chris Connolly's sense of humour. I believe it is rather wicked and often not politically correct, but it has a great sense of naughtiness about it, which I enjoy. Go back to 2009 when Collingwood had moved into their Lexus Centre. We were in a tin shed (supposedly) and had a platinum sponsor in Volvo. It was a parody Volvo = Vault. Now google Volvo vault. Interesting.
  21. Evans is a real terrier, which we'll see if he gets his back right.
  22. How does he get to pick? He was in the draft 1992. In fact he agreed to be a father/son selection
