very nervous, ahhh the life of a dees supporter

i dont think lucas's problems were talent related, he had talent and was due to go top 30 in draft i tend to think there were a few other issues that had him quickly delisted or otherwise they would have worked with him longer ie - juice newton

last year our midfield was the worst of probably any side in the last 20 years, still is very average but Roos defensive gameplan might help Be good if we had some speed who werent youngsters or players who have apparently been going to do well for the last few years -

fair call on matt jones, was pretty good and he should add depth to any midfield if he is our second best mid this year then we are in alot of trouble! -

we wont because my opinion is based on stats and watching the last 5 years, yours is based on hope Lets hope he has a big year nevertheless -

So my criticism of him not running hard enough, not tackling enough, not going hard enough, not being as intense as we would like is herald sun criticism? I would think its intelligent criticism based on stats and his last 5 years and developing into a frustrating player. I wonder sometimes what you go on about -

Ridiculous comment that we give him credit for running 14km a game. If that was the case Tim Clarke would still be playing for Hawthorn as captain coach. Running is one thing, running with desire and hurt is another. Watts does the former. Will be happy to eat my words but after following football for many a year, i just cant see Watts becoming a mid gun, too many defiencies that relate to winning inside ball, gut running, tackling etc. -

Think he prefers to display his passion on a keyboard than display the same passion supporting the club and people who make an effort.....anyways im just not a person who sees watts through rose coloured glasses. He isnt intense enough, doesnt tackle enough, isnt hard enough, doesnt gut run or go to the contest - all things he must learn to become a decent mid......he hasnt shown a tendency to get there after 5 years so we have to be realistic that he will be a good average player who occassionally does something brilliant. To say he will be much above that wouldnt be basing it on "history". Ive been to other teams training sessions and we just have too many key players missing chunks of pre season - just my opinion that when your a mediocre side you need alot going for you but we do have Roos! -

players are the first too say they need a full pre season (prefer a cpl in a row), even more so if they were injured the year before or have missed chunks of footy (Dawes, Jamar, Clark, Viney, Gawn, Tappy) etc. My point is we have too many missing a full pre season which is frustrating as it limits personal and team excellence -

Im hoping he does, his last 5 years have said he struggles mentally to gut run and put in 100% effort at all times. Lets hope it changes but as I mention it takes alot to change a blokes mindset and not being in the higher end for midfielders for fitness has me concerned that he will be able to gut run defensively as well as pressure, tackle etc. Jones does this because he has done it since under 10's for anyone that knows him -

would have thought to date that watts hasnt displayed a great attitude for hard work, the contest, gut running, tackling which are all traits of a good midfielder.......he has more natural talent than luke hodge but hodge is the better player. Perhaps look at some of the traits i just mentioned and you will find your answer - pretty simple Has been dropped several times for the above mentioned factors - thats the reality and as for the history, watch his last 5 years Take off the rose coloured glasses -

at the end of the day, Jamar hasnt done much playin or training in the last year or two and is on the decline after one good year in ten we want to be a good side and need gawn to step up and need to get another ruckman. Spencer wont make it from my thoughts, however Fitzpatrick and Clark could be good fill ins if gawn got fit
