Col has actually done nothing wrong besides being a bit of a twit.
The MFC release on this states he was on his way home from his friends place where he stayed the night before. The club would not be stupid enough to run with this reason if they didn't have enough evidence to believe it to be true.
If we are to believe the club it would seem he was up at this time to get back to his place in plenty of time to make it to training.
I will back in the club to not lie to its members. Those drawing conclusions can do just that, but in the end none of you who are know the full story.
A nothing story on a slow news day. Moving on.

did you do this deliberately or was it a purely innocent, i couldn't help but chuckle when i read it
Was going to put the no pun intended disclaimer but thought it would be of more entertainment value if i left it out.
-
I would be more than happy to give him a crack.
If the draft is as shallow as rumoured then no harm in giving him a rookie spot if he earns it.

So if he wasnt driving, what has he done wrong?
Dont say he was out at 6:45am. It is off-season, he is on holidays. He can be out as late as he wants.

Im glad that he doesnt like what he sees. Will only make him push them harder. And bloody hell I cant wait to see the results.

Goddard will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season. Stuff trading for him, lets just open the wallet.
Pendlebury will be restricted which means Pies could match any offer put to him to keep him.

I suspect that the AFL might not fixture a home game for Melbourne against GWS for fear of a venomous reception from the fans to a certain player.
I agree. Very slim chance that we will play GWS in Melbourne in 2012.
Pretty sure the fixture comes out the end of this month.
-
Another teacher. I like it.
-
Nah they can trade the 4 picks over 2 years, i would assume picks not traded this year will be available for a new batch of 17yo's next year
The rules state that GWS have four selections over 2 years that they are able to trade. I thought that's why they were likely to trade 2 this year and 2 next year?
Ahhh yep forgot the "over 2 year" aspect. Cheers.

If Crouch, or any of the others, doesn't go in the mini draft this year then they'll be eligible for the National Draft next year.
Next year they'll be a whole new bunch of 17 year olds to pick from in the mini draft.
I dont believe there is a mini draft next year. This whole mini draft is another form of assistance for GWS to build a team. Next year the draft goes back to normal, so pretty sure it wont be around.

For pick 4 and a first round compensation pick.
Emma Quayle, who I rate as one of the most knowledgable people in the game when it comes to junior talent, thinks Crouch is the way to go and prefers him over Jaegerbomb. Let's go for pick 2.
-
Still, he's got a long way to go before coming close to Chapman.
You would expect that, considering he has been in the system only 2 years, his first ruined by injury.
-
You compare Tapscott to Chapman? Well Chapman has a cm or 2 on him.
Dont let the facts get in the way of a good story.
As per the Geelong website and the Dees website, the players are listed as follows:
Paul Chapman - 179cm & 88kgs
Luke Tapscott - 180cm & 87 kgs
It is actually a very, very good comparison of the player Luke should expect to become.
-
Won't he be playing for Richmond in 2012???
I see him between wing and half back, probably more attacking side of wing to be honest. Looking forward to see what he can do with his first ever full pre-season.
-
Good luck to him. Will always think positively about Dean. He did the right thing by our football club which in turn jeapordised his chances of success.
All the best.
-
He had every right to be there, and I highly doubt anyone at the club had an issue.
He has a close relationship with Mick, and would have known he too was moving on from the Pies. Fair enough that he could be there for a mate at a disappointing time.
So right or wrong you ask? I'd say right.

If you haven't heard his interview on SEN, do yourself a favour. Massive, massive signing.

It is a rather balmy night in Melbourne.
Haha I bloody hope so!
-
Love it, great work Andy.
-
Geelong have some pretty good kids, many still in the VFL who haven't been seen yet.
Don't think they will need a full rebuild once the veterans retire.
-
What I took from it...
Very very impressive - all three interviewing when it finished said "a more impressive interview you will not find".
He has non negotiables which he will put to the players straight away and that they are either in or they are out. Will be uncompromising with these.
Told the club he won't accept not having a good coaching group. Has people he wants to bring in, and that is well down the track in happening.
Has taken a lot of his philosophies from Malthouse and Blight. Has years and years worth of notes from his time with both.
During the interview he put his best 22 up on a board with holes missing in certain positions because he felt we had nobody to play those roles how he wants them to be played. Said to the panel to go tell the recruiting staff this is what we need, and to go get it.
He seems very much a one in all in mantra. Knows that the club needs a good shake up and sounds exactly the type of guy to make it happen.

I don't deal in hypotheticals.
-
I'd take that.
BUT...what tonight has proved is that nobody except the people directly involved actually know anything. So I am sure there will be plenty more rumours like this one.

Watch it at home, it's on Channel 7 at 3pm.

That's a bit over the top no? Massive call to make when you actually have no knowledge of this current incident. Fairly ignorant.
