  1. It just had on "On the Couch": 1. Jamar - Moloney 33 2. Cox - Priddis 24 3. Cox - Kerr 24 4. Not 100% sure but might have been sandy with someone Pretty impressive considering he's missed 6 weeks! Their work is a treat to watch. It appears we should get too predictable and one-dimensional but I think Moloney is genuinely hard to stop and if they put too much work into stopping him, Rush'll just tap it to someone else!
  2. I am strangely extremely confident about this game… I understand the thoughts of the tipsters and how this is our 2nd week which we don't turn up for but I just can't see us losing. No matter what anyone says, were a better team across the board and if both teams play their best we will win. Such an important game we can't possibly just not turn up can we? Really looking forward to it! Demons by 32
  3. 6. Jordan Gysberts 5. Jordie McKenzie 4. Stefan Martin 3. Jared Rivers 2. Jack Trengove 1. Brent Moloney
  4. Well said, agree with everything except about Blease and Strauss, they haven't shown enough… yet Today I also thought Warnock, Bate, Petterd, Newton and Macdonald were insipid. Bate, Macdonald and Newton appeared to not be afl standard today and I'm now understanding why Petterd was out of the team. And need I mention Davey? There were a bunch of positives out of today but too many (mostly experienced) players didn't look up to it and that last quarter was simply not good enough
  5. Exactly right! We have just proven the old adage that a week is a long time in football but it works the other way too. Great performance today but it means NOTHING if we don't back it up so don't get carried away... As was on here last week that WC game could be the turning point for us as we realized we need some serious changes to our attitude. We back it up and this may just be our turning point when we finally gain some consistency but we play terribly again next week and it's back to square one. Was great to see that was Deano's main theme in the press conference today. Come on Dees! Next week is our test!
  6. Good to see there's two of us! I'm another huge Jets fan, and for the same reason you gave. I also thought his game on the weekend didn't receive enough acknowledgment on here. He's number 2 for me though Current - Jack Grimes Past - Ooze for me as well
  7. Exactly! We're getting way too technical with what we need to work on. All we really need to concentrate on is intensity at the ball. We known when we're hungry we can play some damn good footy. You can't seriously say our problem on Thursday was we weren't strong enough down back? It all quite simply comes down to our intent and we weren't prepared to work hard enough to tackle, get the footy or stop our opponents from getting it. We need some leadership from either the players or the coaching staff to pump us up and get us going for the game ahead and when things go wrong, to slow it down and say "follow me". A bit like Chris Judd this week.
  8. There's no chance he'll go straight away, it's just too out of character for the club. I think it's inevitable he'll go eventually this year, look at the next few weeks: Adelaide (MCG) North Melbourne (Etihad) St Kilda (Etihad) Carlton (MCG) Essendon (MCG) Collingwood (MCG) Fremantle (MCG) I reckon we'll win next week but after that Baileys on a trail to his end. When we play North there is alot of emphasis on our performance because we're meant to be at a similar stage in our development but they seriously have the wood over us. I can't see us winning that! Then we have 5 weeks where we pencil in a loss. With the pressure already on Bailey we lose 5 or 6 in a row and the pressure will be too much, the club won't have an option but to get rid of him. Viney as caretaker and I will be psyched if we get Roos, the man's a superstar!
  9. IN: Petterd, Maric, Bate, Jetta OUT: Morton, Wonaeamirri, Bennell, Dunn Also consider Warnock for Rivers
  10. I desperately wanted to get down there today but was forced to watch it on the telly. Just a few takes I noticed: Really surprised with some comments about Jetta. I thought he was great! Played on the ball all day and has shown he is not a small forward but certainly a midfielder, people need to realise that. On the TV its easier to notice how good players are in close and Jetta's contested ball and use of handball in stoppages was first class. Also found the ball in space on many occasions and had some damaging runs. Always tackles hard and besides a couple of mistakes he used it really well. Nicholson was superb, especially early on. Great acceleration and I love it how he backs himself. Certainly worth watching, could be a rookie promotion at some point in the season Evans was also impressive, I really liked the look of him in pre season and he backed it up today. Howe took some great marks and is a nice user of the footy. Was quiet in patches so I still think he's a while off AFL level but another player worth watching I was a little disappointed with Blease, I've always thought he's an exciting prospect. Today he did some really exciting things with his trademark run and pace but really butchered it when he disposed of it. Also went missing quite alot, don't write him off but he's a mile off AFL standard right now. Petterd, Maric and Bate all showed alot and deserve another call up. Bate was easily BOG and Maric and Jetta were our best through the middle. Petterd after a scare early on worked hard like always, a few mistakes but did well For mine next week: IN: Petterd, Maric, Bate, Jetta OUT: Morton, Wonaeamirri, Bennell, Dunn Also consider Warnock for Rivers
  11. I know our inside 50 differential was -7.2. Can't for the life of me find anything else. Hope this helps a bit
  12. 6. Moloney 5. Trengove 4. Tapscott 3. Sylvia 2. Bennell 1. Green
  13. I am a HUGE Grimes fan but agree his kicking needs work. The most painful thing about it all is that I think he's a great kick, he just tries to spear every ball, low and flat onto a teammates chest (even when he doesn't need to) and when you do that there is always going to be an occasional spray. He had a shocking 1st half today but got back into it and played a really good 2nd half. He saved us about 5 times in the 3rd term with his courage, contested marking and willingness to work hard. If he gets his kicking sorted out he could, and will be absolutely elite.
  14. One of the best posts I've seen. Go Dees and go Deano! Rather than offer these hypothetical situations in which we could be in trouble just sit back, watch us play an have faith we'll see an improvement as we have ever since Bailey took over
  15. I think a few of you are being a bit harsh on Jones. Sure, over the last couple of years he hasn't demanded a spot in our best 22 but I think he deserves for us all to give him a go. From all reports he was tearing it up during pre-season. He plays one pretty poor NAB cup game after he had injury concerns the weeks leading up to it and we all give up on him. He would die for this club, give him a few rounds of the proper season to show whether he has made any improvment...
  16. 1. Jack Grimes - Maturity, courage and leadership of a 30 year old and hasn't played 50 games yet! 2. Neville Jetta - Odd choice I know but I just love the kid! Little bloke but hits every tackle. He's just so tough in close for a little guy! Needs more pace but nonethless with more confidence he should be many people's favourite! 3. Ricky Petterd - One of the most courageous players I've seen. Almost died on a footy field and came back to improve massively! Needs to get the body right or stop throwing it around so much! 4. Tom Scully - Likewise with Petterd's courage. I can just see him winning a brownlow! 5. Austin Wonaeamirri - Still do and will always remember that comeback win against freo. Kicked a rush in the final term including the winner... And boy can he celebrate! Such a bright spark in such a dark time. I reckon his pressure is a crucial part of our future
  17. Just to confirm... I go to Carey and have lots of mates who are really close to him. It's all over his facebook, he is coming back to live in Melbourne and will be back at Carey next year. As I've posted before, the bloke is an absolute gun! Absolutely tears games to bits! I've heard from numerous people that he is one of the toughest, if not THE toughest player they have seen play junior footy. He's incredibly tough but fair and has a mean tackle! I would know, I've felt it! He was also the school cross country champion... When he was here before he was very committed to coming to melbourne, looks like things haven't changed!
  18. 6. Bruce 5. Scully 4. Jurrah 3. Mcdonald 2. Moloney 1. McKenzie
  19. I think the thing that makes Frawley really stiff is that this bloke has selected a back six made up of pinch-hitters in the midfield (Hodge and Goddard) and then has no back up defenders whatsoever. That would make a pretty imbalanced side. Bench made up of a fwd/mid and 3 midfielders. Surely there would be another spot for a key defender.
  20. If it is true we have a very detailed kick in structure it must be the stupidest thing ever created. The kick outs frustrated me more than ever on the weekend and it is the same week in and week out. We NEVER look for a short option, wait and then go long to Jamar and how often does it work? 10% of the time at the absolute best. In the final quarter we had about 5 kick outs and couldnt clear. We finally get it down the other end, miss one shot and they straight away find a free man and run the ball along the wing for a coast to coast shot at goal. I cannot believe there is a structure because Deano MUST recognise it doesn't work! I have full faith in Bailey but this is one of two issues in which he just can't address (the other being slow starts). 1. If a plan exists - FIX IT 2. If one doesn't (which it can't possibly) - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT
  21. 6. Green 5. Sylvia 4. Jamar 3. Dunn 2. Bruce 1. Moloney
  22. 3. Moloney 2.5. Jamar 2. Davey 1.5 Morton 1. Garland 0.5 Dunn
  23. Mate, you cannot be saying Watts' form has been any better than Millers? Sure Miller's been pretty poor since his 5 goals but Watts' last couple of weeks have been atrocious. He was ok against WC and Port but then his next 2 weeks i'd be surprised if he'd had 10 touches combined. Miller had a great game against Port, an ok one against Geelong and then one shocker. Don't get me wrong I want Watts to succeed as much as anyone but it just annoys me how he gets selection priority over anyone. His form does not warrant selection. Miller deserves another crack, he earnt it with his 5 goal game.
  24. Agree we need a 2nd ruckman. We don’t need a gun, just someone who can compete. We didn’t have that on the weekend. I believe we need Stef Martin. He has proven that he can compete well in the ruck and is a solid defender. He can play forward if needed as well. We just need to play him not expecting a great performance. He will always do okay but will never star. At the moment with how desperately Jamar needs an occasional rest, having Stef will be vital to our success. Not every player has to be a star, sometimes solid players are very handy.
