  1. Someone said Thursday we lost this at the selection table (wasn’t me!). I thought hmmm let hope not. But think they were correct. Playing Garlett, Hannon and Fritsch in the same team seems an odd decision. Especially when in the first three quarters especially everyone would fly for the ball (including the crumbers ?). I like the enthusiasm but please ffs some guys stay down at a contest for the inevitable crumb. Would have rathered seen Tyson, Brawshaw or even Bugg and one less small forward. Strange old setup forward today and was reflected in lack of pressure and scoring from all the inside 50s. All over the place. They lowered their eyes in the second half which was better. Frost I think wluld have been handy too but Gw couldn’t have known the backs would have a shocker esp in the first half Last year we broke teams open and had guys free out the back. Didn’t happen once today Maynard tagging?? Hmmmm Feel sorry for Max but the game was lost in the second. Takes a hell of a lot of energy to come back from behind. Lewis has a good second half but owed us a lot with his brain fade in the second. Id like to see a few changes to the team next week please he and co ?
  2. Not bad considering he usually only plays 3/4 of a season due to suspension
  3. Don’t need a title to be a leader. Go Nev
  4. Rafiki, agreed. But he will get his when we have a period of excellence not just the one random year where all the stars, planets, solar systems and galaxies aligned and his dogs stole a flag before returning to being pups at the bottom again...
  5. Haha my bad thank goodness for that! Was tough listening last night (but had to smile) when Johnno was laughing at us getting our first silverware since the 1989 preseason cup which was also nice to get but of no significance. I was 6 then and still remember having the picture of the guys celebrating that night match on the wall of my bedroom. In fairness a better turn of luck would have had some proper silverware in the closet during those years. Anyway I was smiling at that as I don’t think Johnno would have been laughing so much if the dogs hadn’t pulled a rabbit out of the hat two years ago... Btw for what it’s worth i think we will finally put north away this year. Well if someone shuts down Ben brown...
  6. Yep anything is possible. Can’t argue with that. You might wake up and be positive tomorrow too ....endless possibilities... I think you underrate him. He and Trengove (as greater guy as he is) are not in the same league. Jack’l be right. Just saying been off for a few months and now footys nearly back it’s funny to come and see the same negativity from the same posters. I’m more optimistic but hey if that’s your style....
  7. We beat North in a jlt recently. No one said anything about breaking hoodoos there. They went in to beat us shortly after in the season proper. It’s great to have the attitude the guys did yesterday and I applaud them for it. Was enjoyable to watch and fun. But pleeeeaseeee it was an experimental round robin and nothing else. I’m excited for the season ahead because if the guys play to their potential winning the lot is possible. But let’s keep a lid on it after X
  8. Far out. A few months off and I come back to this. You are a cheerful chap aren’t you?
  9. Agree Jaded. Getting very hard to like this sport. How he hell you can punch someone in the guts to the point they vomit and have to leave the field and call it low impact I will never know. And how he never got a free ffs. This sport is a joke. actually really wish the club would stand up and say enoughs enough. That Christian will take his ban but we would like to see some consistency from the mrp and umpires and site some of the most glaring examples. Grow a pair!
  10. Also with the Hibbard deliberate. Forgetting the fact it wasn't his fault thenball went out of bounds-why in earth he want to force the ball out when 13 points down in the last quarter of the game and the opposition has the leagues most dominant ruckman?! Just goes to show the umpires have no idea about football. Again if they were full time they could be educated with this and in many of the extra match situations they would have the time to do this could be taught and we could start to see some consistency.
  11. What would they do during the week? have a break for a start. I don't know how they work a full week and then have time to do umpiring on the weekend and practice at night and devote 100% to both. Something's go to give. when at training during the week when they are not tired from having worked a job all day they could... Review games over and over. And more bloody practice practice practice. You could give them footage of 200 plays a day and keep training them until they all finally get the answers correct and are CONSISTENT. Do that today and you'd probably get 20% in agreement. Anyway this costs money can't have that can we afl. If they make the game watchable again then more people would watch it and they would make or money. But hey I'm just a weary supporter. For now.
  12. Completely agree re full time umpires. When my family from overseas comes over they cannot believe the umpires are not full time professionals. They have commented on more than one occasion that the low standard and randomness of the umpiring is the main reason they can't get into afl. To be honest it's putting me off watching it too. It is just really really bad. I actually feel sorry for the umpires. Cannot believe they have to work a full time job and do this on the side. It is an absolute joke and the Afl will continue to be an absolute joke until these people are paid to work as professionals not the amateurs they are now. But heaven forbid such a radical idea may get ahead of profits. The afl is a laughing stock. So sad because the game itself is actually quite good.
  13. Usual thing everyone on here has said. Everyone goes up. No one stays down. Goal. Unbelievable.
  14. This is why watching our team is so frustrating. They can play so badly and this well within the space of an hour. Well done for fighting back. For once we are a rotation up so keep pushing boys.
  15. Give a team like Hawthorn a 28 point lead your always going to stuggle regardless of how bad they've been this year. Our set shot kicking for goal today has been aweful.
  16. Yep umpiring aweful. As usual the other team has an extra player in yellow.
  17. JKH grrrrr. Kent must play next week. 0 tackles. Need Watts to get into the game too. Only 8 touches. But looking much better Trac. Brilliant. Who was it before who said we will get in front and then lose 3 with minutes to go. Made me laugh at least.
  18. Hannan just had to get it over frawleys head and certain goal. Kicked it straight to him. Fark. Well done Hunt. Lucky he kicked the second one as Garlett was right there and he ran a long way! Viney having a big dip. Well done
  19. They handball to someone 3-4 meters away free. We hand ball 1 meter if that to someone under pressure. Hopeless. They must be under instruction to do it at they think 'it's fast' but it ends up being super slow
  20. Hopeless. Handball a bit less for f^%^s sake. Hunt injured? cant take a trick. Whats happened to our forward line from last year. It's unrecognisable.
  21. Evening...or morning... Haven't posted here for years. Congrats to the boys for continuing their form from last week. They really deserved that and very happy for Jack Watts, hopefully on Queens birthday he can kick 6 and we can win by ten goals! The point of the post is that I was just wondering if there is any way to see the score from turnovers last week. I was watching the replay and said to a friend I thought it was in the vicinity of 60+ but looking at afl.com.au and the footylive iOS app that stat wasn't there. The tv coverage trots it out every now and then so I know it is recorded. Just wondering if anyone knows a better site where we can get such stats or if not what the number was. Back it it up next week boys and keep the pressure on and the great positioning in the opponents half and we will score plenty again from the turnover ball! Thanks-there may finally be some rain on the Dusty Hill
  22. I do Chook(o). If they had always had them than fine whatever. But as its a bet I think after being part of a demons team that had been beaten by a record amount on their home ground I think it's time they got rid of their bet an concentrated on basic football. Anyway. The whole thing is embarrassing. Leading the vote count would have to be gillies or watts the fuss all about its just football Watts...
  23. Good evening all, Although its the least of our problems, I think next week the beards should go. This picture I took I hunk says it all (note GWS doing a better job against port then we did). The first part about being a professional is looking the part. If are Sydney and playing in the finals and its a superstition or some such then we can look into it. But been part of a team that has had the biggest loss in history at the mcg perhaps next week as a statement everybody turn up clean shaven, hair cut and looking like people who want to give a fu@k about their team and the jumper. Just a minor point but when u have absolutely nothing it's a small start. U might not be the part but at least try and look it ffs. Ps I'd be happy to see 20 changes next week. Jones, Howe, Clark and Viney stay. Emerg. Frawely, Davey, Blease, Grimes the rest Casey players. I'm sure the afl will give us a dispo so we don't see more recorders fall next match...
