I don't know why Roffey had to fall on her own sword when it's Goodwin that should have. The club has had a million and one controversies and Goodwin hasn't taken responsibility for any of it. If we hadn't won a premiership he'd be gone. Another year like this and he has to go.

    🤣

Yeah, that fact rather undermines the let's sack Goody crew.

Would definitely fit the bill if we’re looking for experienced midfield depth

I actually really rate Kennedy so wouldn’t mind it at all if he came for a later pick or two

He killed us in (was it?) 2020 in an empty Marvel stadium.

    I agree

I think list decisions have a lot to answer for

to what extent does Goodwin and coaching get involved in list management (trading in particular)? Genuine question

It also depends what is available and willing to move on the market...

We were a ‘franchise operated by the AFL’ at the end of 2013…

Most on here look back fondly on the time of Peter Jackson and the ‘AFL approved’ board.

We have the necessary mechanisms to remove an admin that is wholly incompetent or corrupt but save for that - the board should replenish itself and get on with it in conjunction with what the head office wants to see.

Thats my view, it’s also current reality.

Ironically, things have gone downhill since the AFL handed back the reigns...

    Yes, sure.

But we are a slow team. Langdon aside. Bailey Smith fits our needs. I still think he makes us significantly better.

I'd like more speed, but I don't think we're as slow as say Brisbane.

Add AMW, Windsor, McVee, Chandler, Lingers to each line, I wouldn't say we're slow.

Speed of ball movement is more important. Think the MFC 2018.

I'm happy to see Goodwin continue but with a revamped FD (the review could lead to such a situation)

But Simon needs to re-jig our game style.  Nothing too dramatic but what is noticeable watching the finals, is how different the other teams game plans are

The use of the corridor in particular and the play-on in an immediate sense from marks, frees & stoppages

Leg speed and fast ball movement leads to players further afield finding space to receive.  Or backing in a teammate in a one-on-one

There are times to slow the game down a la what the Giants didn't do, but our game plan often centres around slowing the game down (too much)

These were all features of Goody 2017-2018.

I hope we revert to this style too, but with an emphasis maintained on forward half territory and stoppage, with forward half intercept.

jack steven was a former aints skipper who had a slew of off-field issues, including being stabbed in the chest shortly after the trade to the puddy tatts was completed

he didn't even complete a full season down in sleepy hollow and retired at the end of his first season with a year to go on his contract

That is close to correct, just the opening sentence up to the comma is incorrect every other part is how it transpired.

If I'd written an in principle agreement prior to the pick being inside the top 10, I'd be closer, correct?

My thoughts on this are that the media, and AFL HQ would like an EPL style setup with a few Vic and interstate superclubs playing in front of 150,000 and other clubs being like Luton Town.

That doesn't seem like a good commercial result for the AFL.
