  1. “His body is probably just starting to feel the pinch a little bit; he’s just been a little bit sore, too." The old 'general soreness.' Good thinking from the club. Wise management. Look forward to seeing Jamie back next week.
  2. Thoughts? Well I think I have heard it all now. You want Hawthorn to win this weekend because you want them to be in some sort of form when they play us the following week? Because if they're not, well, we could beat them. Oh hell. Ok, whatever. I don't know why you're even bothering to follow the club this season. I'd love to get picks 1 and 2 in the event that we win four or less games which is likely. But I could never hope that club loses. But whatever works for you.
  3. No you're not the only one. I find myself hoping all the draft picks they are to receive will come to little if nothing. Why don't they just give them a premiership? And as for Western Sydney, that to me seems like the AFL seriously over-extending itself. Sydney itself has enough issues let alone a new 'franchise' in the west. But the AFL is determined so we'll find out.
  4. 1993 Nathan Buckley 20 games. 1994 Chris Scott 19 games. 1995 Nick Holland 15 games. (played 2 games in 1994) 1996 Ben Cousins 20 games. 1997 Michael Wilson 22 games. 1998 Byron Pickett 25 games. (played 1 game in 1997) 1999 Adam Goodes 20 games. 2000 Paul Hasleby 21 games. 2001 Justin Koschitzke 20 games. 2002 Nick Riewoldt 22 games. (played 6 games in 2001) 2003 Sam Mitchell 21 games. (played 9 games in 2002) 2004 Jared Rivers 22 games. (played 3 games in 2003) 2005 Brett Deledio 22 games. 2006 Danyle Pearce 22 games. (played 7 games in 2005) 2007 Joel Selwood 21 games. 2008 Rhys Palmer 20 games.
  5. He is a month off 19. And yeah, he is very slight and the step up from WAFL to AFL is immense. So yeah, good chance to rest him.
  6. I hope he can too. This season is his big opportunity.
  7. No, but it will be tomorrow I'd say. Bailey will say at his press conference the kid needed a rest. I'm sure he'll be asked. At this stage it's the only explaination. Edit: Yeah, on the website. Rested. End of story.
  8. Well yeah, that's what I'm saying. He isn't injured. But could do with a rest. No conspiracy theories needed.
  9. Big difference between how a player moves on match day and how he pulls up after the game. Plenty of times players have played injured and look fine on match day but pull up sore days later. What other explaination have you got? He isn't playing for Melbourne. He isn't playing for Casey. So he has been excluded why? I'm not saying he is injured. But that he may have pulled up a bit sore after last week and Bails figured it was a good chance to give the kid a rest. And people saying leaving Bennell out is a sign we are tanking, get real.
  10. Nah, nothing bizarre about it. He's a slightly built kid and has come in and played the first 7 games of AFL footy. It's a huge and immediate step up from playing WAFL. I'd say he's just a little sore this week. Should be back next week you'd think.
  11. I was referring more to his set shot for goal than his little touch kicks he does around the ground. I agree, he has displayed at times some good touch with the ball in his field kicking, especially for a man of his height.
  12. Jamar's highest possession count for a game is 14. He averages 5.6 a game for his career. Over the last two seasons he has averaged 7.4 in 24 games. Last season he averaged 8.2 in 14 games. So yeah, youre spot on.
  13. Yeah, agree. I like many have seen enough of Jamar. But he will get his chance simply because we have such limited options at ruck at the moment. Spencer is playing Casey reserves this week so you would think he is still at least a few weeks away from any call up to the Melbourne side. Jamar is ahead of him and has to take any opportunity that falls his way. He is playing for his career. I don't expect to see anything that I havent already seen from him. But he will get his chance.
  14. Paul Johnson's problem is his finishing. He isn't a gifted kick by any stretch. Sure he can play forward and get out on a lead but it simply isn't his natural game. He just isn't suited to it. As far his game in '07 against Collingwood goes, he had 9 touches that day, did take 6 marks and kicked 2 behinds.
  15. I think you'll find Martin at CHB and McDonald likely on the ball or in the midfield in general.
  16. Yeah he isn't named for Casey so its safe to say he is being 'rested'. Most likley a case of 'general soreness.'
  17. And you've come to this conclusion based on what? What would we have done in team selection if we werent as you say, tanking? Bailey is not and will not tank. Hope all you want but it aint going to happen.
  18. Both Jurrah and Spencer are named in the Casey reserves. CASEY SCORPIONS - Reserves 11.10am Backs Strauss Zomer Taylor Half Backs Chivers Williams McDonald Centreline Scanlon Oldmeadow Vernon Half Forwards Bolton Snow Jurrah Forwards Liddle Waite Matheson Followers Spencer Healey Creed Interchange (from) Blaser Clay Lees Mazurek Mildren Patti Sykes Virtue
  19. What backline? We have a backline? Yeah, looks terrible doesn't it. Nobody saw the Bennell exclusion coming. Maybe it's just soreness or a need for a rest. But still, weird. Jamar is an emergency. I wonder if they toyed with the idea of bringing him straight in. Welcome back and good luck Wheels. And good luck Valenti. Gets another chance to prove himself.

  21. Agree. Don't know where this belief has come from other than being conjured up by our desperate need for a key forward. Paul Johnson is not a forward.
  22. Agree with you on that. But it wasn't the question.
  23. Jeff Wortman asking fans what they should ask Bailey at his weekly press conference. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...2-19769,00.html
  24. A chance late in the season. It's a shame he got injured/illness because that's probably put him back a few weeks for any likely appearance in the seniors. As it stands he is still very raw but there is plenty to like. A genuine natural talent. I wouldn't bet on him playing seniors this season. He still has alot of work to do. But would love to see him bouncing around the forwardline at least once this year. Hope he can earn it.
  25. Yes, will be there regardless. Sure, we would all prefer the game to be played at the G. I enjoy sitting with all the other Redlegs on level 2 of the Southern for home games. But I don't understand all the sooks who wont take a short trip down the road to support the team no matter what stadium theyre playing at or wherever their precious reserved seat sits them at the Docklands. Come on people. Let's get serious.
