WWSW can you advise what this actually means to Gus and the Club I was a bit confused.??

I think it means we still have to swallow just under half of his contract in the salary cap over the next 4 years. Farcical.

  2. Roos were out on their feet from early in that last qtr. As much as I hate Collingwood, I really envy their spirit. That was a very impressive comeback with so many stars out. But geez the umps got them over the line in the end. That non-50 was criminal.

There’s also the consideration that he knows clubs are trying to run him up the ground where he can be less influential as an interceptor, which without Lever to cover is amplified. So is he hesitant in thinking I know what they are trying to do, is this a position I need to run to?. Can my opponent hurt us if he marks the ball that high up the ground

He has been beaten more this year than I can remember. Is it worth trialling swapping him with Petty for a few weeks to at least pump up Petty’s trade value a bit? He is far more confident as a defender and May played forward as a junior I think.

Then why go and chase him? Myself and many more on here raised concerns around this strategy when it first came out that we were chasing Grundy.

It made zero sense at the time even with Jackson leaving. Jackson could at least pinch hit up forward where as Grundy never played there in his life.

Tim Lamb record of late has been abysmal of late and he needs to come under intense scrutiny for botching our list management of late.

Agree on all your points. Especially Tim Lamb. Extending Adams, Laurie etc recently for two years is very questionable. They seem incapable of moving on players who are not showing much.

Meanwhile Grundy was BOG last night in the Top Side, but he wasn’t up to “our” standards

It is heartbreaking to see what has been done to this Club since ‘21

Let’s not get too excited about that game. Geelong have the worst rucks by far in the league and opposition rucks dominate them every game. Not playing Grundy in the finals was a huge mistake but moving him (and his contract) on was the right thing to do. Gawn is not a forward and neither is Grundy. They were no good together.

This won't be a popular post but I thought the lads had a real crack. I'm not angry or disappointed because aside from finishing off infront of goal I thought the game was an improvement from Freo. We're a bottom of the 8 sort of side this year for a few reasons

Agree. No depth whatsoever. Shallow midfield. Hopeless forward line. [censored] coaching.

I'm trying to think whether getting beaten by a Collingwood team with 11 of its first choice players out is worse than being beaten by an Essendon VFL side like we were a few years back.

    This club has no heart.

The can take their pay checks and far8off for all I care

Is there 11? I can only count 8. Still a disgrace but let’s at least get the facts straight.

I’m sick to death of all this Maynard stuff & the excuses of certain supporters, harden up & get to the game if you can, the season is on the line, we need all the support we can get. Imagine how good it will be when we win!!!

I get this but I believed at the time (and still do) that losing Brayshaw at that stage of that game cost us the premiership. And now our window looks close to closed to me. Not to mention the implications for Brayshaw himself. It was pretty consequential.

But it’s the truth, it is what happened Mrs. Maynard.

I understand his Mothers’ discomfort, but it is a fact that a players’ career ended after a head knock, caused by her son.

It was early in a final, after he had said during that week that he would make the opposition earn every possession and his opponent had been concussion free for the previous 5 years and was even wearing a helmet.

The bump was delivered by jumping off the ground, bracing with his shoulder and hitting the victim after he had disposed of the ball and was therefore unsuspecting of being smashed into.

    They are facts.

PS: I have never thought that Maynard intended to knock Gus out, but rather to make him earn the kick after copping a decent bump and putting some fear into his team mates.

This was so obviously Maynard’s intention which therefore made it suspendable. He “chose to” make him earn it and it went wrong.
This is how he plays every week.

The AFL 100% put up a deliberately pathetic argument at the tribunal. It was all a sham to save face but protect Collingwood. Absolutely effed.

I get that, but you don't attract guys who want to be the man by saying we'll play you if the current AA ruck is injured.

If you were Ned, who's been developing under Witts and just wants to play, and you had Colingwood saying 'Come be our #1 ruck now' and Melbourne saying 'come be our break glass in case of emergency and then #1 in 2 years' time', where would you go?

Collingwood wouldn’t be offering that. Cameron is a better player right now. Adelaide would be a better shot at 1st ruck but does he really want to live in Adelaide (VIC boy right?)?

Think we're missing his match day input for sure

I sure am wondering if he was the special ingredient in 2021 that we are now missing (plus Burgess, though he’s clearly not having the same impact at Adelaide).

Well you know what? I’m not saying [censored] anymore. I should’ve learned my lesson last year. Clearly I’m a glutton for punishment. Not anymore.

Well, how is this approach supposed to be helpful? Can’t breach confidence? Then don’t make suggestions about something that you can’t talk about. It’s annoying for those not in the know.

We are not big 4. We have our own little place below Collingwood/Carlton/Richmond/Essendon and just below Hawthorn and probably Geelong.

As [censored] as it sounds, People are usually right when they say our crowds are bolstered by having home and away games against the big 4.

That’s BS. We aren’t big 4 but we are next. Our conversion rate of total fans to crowd numbers is probably close to best in the league. The criticism of us is BS.

While the free was technically there, I absolute hate how harshly we interpret that stand rule.

It is a huge penalty to pay, when most of the time, the slight movement makes absolutely zero difference to the game.

It wasn’t the stand rule. It was for going over the mark, specifically on May’s left side. It was clearly the correct call, though doesn’t always get noticed.

Riley Collier-Dawkins was very good v Essendon in VFL yesterday.  Has the mature body, experience and skills to make an impact straight away. I like his quick burst in stoppages.  Given the loss of our midfield depth, I’d support choosing him in the mid year draft. Also means Trac can rotate forward more if we had more midfield options.

I haven’t seen him play this year but high draft pick so clearly has talent. We are desperate for midfield depth IMO so I’d be all for it if he is the best available.

188, don't look at the WIKI page think its old info

Still, I’d classify him as a running half back, more so than a player like Howe who is a medium who plays tall.

yeh exactly, i really like him. but we do have so many of this player that we are throwing defenders forward, so it is hard to spend capital in that area.  Just a classy player that is available.

He’s only 184cm. I’d love him at the dees for some more run off half back.

Our favourite columnist and tv journo (Ralphy) reporting that Adelaide have out their 2 first rounders (this year and next) on the table for Will Hayward.

    Tells me:

    1) They are not dealing for Petty this year. He may just walk next year if we let him.

    2) Haywards asking trade price is going to be way too high for what he is worth.

    Isn’t Hayward a free agent?

Can't help but admire bloody Geelong.

After last year I thought they were going to start rebuild mode but not.. here we are again.

Incredibly well drilled and disciplined as a team. They stick to their structure and back their system in and always number off around stoppages.

Have enjoyed watching them this year.

This is all true. But it helps a lot when they have been almost injury-free.
