  1. Let me kick if off

Georgia Campbell - Learning the ruck craft as she goes.  Think she is developing nicely despite playing on seasoned ruck talls

Alyssia Pisano - Can really see the skill and pace.  Looking forward to watching develop as the year progresses

Paxy Paxman - Ran hard and found space.   Good game

Tyla Hanks - Did a lot of work - needs more support

Alyssa Bannan - Did a few good things as she always does.  Love Bannan but needs to inject herself more in the game.  Would like to see her in defence and run the ball out

Sarah Lampard - Ran hard, had a good game but under pressure like most of the team

Georgia Gall - Learning and developing - took a couple of good marks.  Just needs time

Kate Hore - Tried to do it all.  Normally calm and composed but was a bit angry during the 2nd half and it showed. Loved her tackle on Kearney - beautiful

Maeve Chaplin - Another good game.  Composed and strong over the ball.  Needs to be moved to the midfield

Lily Mithen - Another good game by Lily.  Batting against her weigh and height. Courageous as they come

Grace Beasley - Getting better game by game.  Becoming a favourite quickly.  Reminds me of our Liv Purcell.  They will compliment each other in the midfield for sure

Tahlia Gillard - Another good game.  Always puts in despite the back line under enormous pressure

Grace Hill - Tried hard - under a lot of pressure by North talls

Eliza McNamara - BOG - great game - despite a few errors

Sinead Goldrick - Tough and courageous.  Just needs to stop for a few seconds before moving the ball on

Megan Fitzsimon - Good game, kicked a good goal and was hard at the ball

Rhi Watt - Given her height and experience would like to see her do more and help out Campbell with leadership

Eden Zanker - Struggling a bit as the only tall.  Did some good things but gets down on herself too easily and it impacts her game

Shelley Heath - Another good game from Shelley.  Hard runner, love how she goes about it

Blaithin Mackin - Always have hope when Blaithin gets the ball, smart and makes the most of all opportunities

Gabrielle Golvin - Tried really hard and did some good things.  Under pressure the same as her other backs.

Happy to hear any views on my review

  2. Good summary Meggs.

I thought the team tried hard all game but were outclassed by bigger and more experienced bodies.  It was always going to be difficult with four of our keys out and what has been a hard draw to start the year.

Will be interesting to see how they go in the remaining games with Adelaide remaining the hardest upcoming game (on paper anyway).

Not sure how you feel Meggs but I so hope Nth do not win the flag.  They are such a team of whingers, ably lead by the best of that breed in Kearney.  For such a good player she doesn't need to but constantly ducks her head and unnecessarily draws free kicks.   I think for all her bravado she really does not like the hard contest.  As for Libby, well best I say nothing further there.

Loving the addition of Grace Beasley and Alyssia Pisano and can see a lot of potential in our two Georgia's.  You can see how much better they will all become.  I would like to see Alyssa Bannon go into defence for a few games and try and run the ball out for us and give Maeve Chaplin some time in the middle

On to Fremantle and hopefully some time away as a team together will help.  Would be good to see Denby Taylor get a game and add some poise to our backline.

Anyway love the girls and very proud of their effort.  They just need to keep the same intensity and a few more wins will come this season.   Would be happy for an early draft pick in a now finally national system and pick up a taller skillful mid.

MELBOURNE will not have access to tall forward prospect Tairon Ah-Mu under Next Generation Academy rules when the 17-year-old hits his draft season next year (afl.com.au)

Ah-Mu is a member of the Demons' NGA program but under the AFL's eligibility criteria, he does not qualify for the club to have any priority access over him as a draftee.

Ah-Mu kicked three goals for the Dandenong Stingrays on Saturday against the Gippsland Power, taking the straight-kicking key forward's tally to 21.5 from 10 games this season.

    Does anyone know why?

Pre season training. I remember it at our suburban footy club. Tooronga Malvern.  Started about now but definitely not this intense.  Usually an hour of running then hit the showers and off to the Malvern Vale afterwards for a Parma 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Tooronga Malvern, now that brings back memories.  I used to live up the road from the ground and would walk down and watch some games.  I remember a high flying young forward Michael - nickname Flathead kicking a lot of goals.  I thought he might have been good enough to play VFL at that time but never eventuated.   I can also remember the homeless gentleman George who slept in the bushes at one end of the ground.  Thanks for bringing back those memories Spirit of Norm Smith

FB is one of the largest urban renewal projects with anticipated 80,00 population. this community will need liesure and entertainment facilities. It also provides a local supporter base

Fishermen's Bend is as far away from the demon supporter base as is Casey. To me it feels like another heartless Docklands.  Sorry it is a No from me.

Maybe I am the odd one out, but on what I have seen of Humphrey, Reid should be far superior.

We have a beauty right under our noses in Bailey Laurie.   Needs to be given a good run of consecutive games.  Very clever ball user and decision maker and no I am not his mum or aunty :)

I nominate Blake Howes as next in. All 3 of the above also have the game to makw it in the big time too. But Blake Howes looks too shelf to me.

Agree Wizard of Koz - Blake Howes has something special.  I think we have some really good young talent coming through.  Laurie will be fine - he is getting better with each game

  8. Unfortunate outs especially Maddie Gay around the ball.   Although good ins and as has already been called out we are luckier than some clubs at the moment.

Really looking forward to this game

    - Will be great to see Goldy and Magee back in the Red and Blue.   A wet track may suit them well :)

    - Krystel will hopefully give them lots of headaches down forward with her skills, pace and infectious enthusiasm

Love how hard the teams works together and led exceptionally well by our Daisy.   All the best team, give those pesky Tigers hell

Horne-Francis looked the most unimpressed person to be taken at Number 1 in the draft I think I have ever seen.

Thought the same MadAsHell - Seriously death by a thousand lashes would be welcomed rather than watching this waffling dribble.

If this is the best night of the year for Cal Twomey then I am intrigued to know what a bad night for him could look like.......

This is definitely how Goodwin has tended to do things. But he did bring in Baker to play wing against the Kangaroos when the out was Viney.

Also, I would argue that Langdon is our most difficult player to replace. Not in terms of ability, but we just don't have another player of his type, with running ability and skill. (If we did, they would be playing on the other wing.)

Didn't Toby Bedford come 1st or 2nd in the time trial pre-season.  Would be nice to see him get another opportunity

Please take the AFLW news to a different place. Intermingling with the AFL on the MFC website is annoying.

Not necessary and irrelevant to AVB's current foot injury
