  1. The best thing that can happen for this club is to win 4 games next year whilst by and large still being competitive throughout the year. To win a premiship you need an extremely solid core of players but more importantly you need around 3 super stars (players considered to be in the top 10 of the AFL given that particular year).

At the moment obviously we don't have any stars however what we do have is an extremly strong core of players. If we can add Watts, Butcher and Scully to this we basically gain a Matthew Pavlich, a Nick Riewaldt and a Chris Judd.

After 2009 we can start worrying about winning games.

  2. am i missing something?, HE DIDNT WANT TO COME TO US! ffs, the last thing you wanna do is pick up a player who doesnt wanna be there. smarten up amateurs

That's part of it though Freak. Why did he choose Carlton over us?

  3. Who's available now the trade period is over?

I think ROK will sign on again with the swans?

    Maybe we can get Lonegan?

Who the heck is out of contract?

    Lovett, Campbell, ????????

  4. 16 Matthew Lobbe Port Adelaide 2007 ?

16 Mitchell Brown West Coast Eagles 2006 5 games

    16 Richard Douglas Adelaide 2005 38 games

    16 Adam Pattison Richmond 2004 47 games

16 Josh Willoughby Sydney Swans 2003 o games

average talent there at number 16 recently

    really counts for nothing.

  5. Brad Green is better than O'Keef. Whats O'Keef asking? I dont blame Green if he leaves by the way hes been treated and, some of the posters on here want to trade our BEST! player? He is our best bar none. Give him 3, look after him give him the captiancy. He deserves it and wont let us down.

I think its safe to say that there is no possible way Brad Green will be captain of Melbourne next year.

  6. i don't acknowledge it because it's not true. rich is the best available. taking away the fact that we desperately need a key forward and the fact that he is from Western Australia he is the best player in the draft and most experts know this. no-one is disagreeing with it, but like most, the experts think we will go against the best available principle and pick on needs. i.e Watts

At the end of the day if we didn't have any needs and both rich and watts were victorian, Watts would not even be in contention.

Watts was labelled the #1 pick pretty much halfway through the season. At that stage it wasn't clear Melbourne was going to finish on the bottom of the ladder. West Coast and Fremantle were all challenging seriously for the 16th position.

  7. what makes people think he is going to be any different to the above top 5 picks that have turned out to be nothing special?(and don't just tell us Watts' strengths because all of the players above were thought to have star potential at the time

What makes you think that Daniel Rich is such a sure thing? The same argument can be applied

  8. Natanui, Rich and Watts are all worthy of the #1 pick. There are compelling reasons to take any one of them.

We need a star in the middle of the ground -Rich

We need a key forward- Watts

Were a boring club we need excitement- Natanui

In a way whoever we pick we can't go wrong, at least we address one of our key deficieny's
