  1. Brilliant Actually if you look closely its a picture from last year...thats James Brayshaw standing in front and Andrew Demetriou is driving the lead tank
  2. I don't want to tank in the Cartel Football Club fashion. I mean an actually tank...a big one, big enough to excite people! This tank can be a rallying point for the "March to the G" QB weekend. The tank should have some red & blue insignia on it. Club legends can ride on it: Barassi, Flower, Stynes etc We could have replica WWII GI helmets Red & Blue one's [cheap, light plastic]. We could all wear $1.00 red MFC plastic ponchos for maximum visual effect Caroline Ferguson, the 3AW traffic chick can give "traffic reports" re the tanks progress to the G [she's a Dee supporter and may do it if I ask really nicely]. We will need a marching band of course [i would have suggested Scotch or Melbourne Grammar in the 150th year but being a long weekend this might not wash]. Why would the Army give us a tank I hear you say?...PR I reply, great photo op AND they can set up a recruitment / PR tent at one of the biggest games of the year, with their tank parked beside it. Can this be done...or am I just DeeReaming?
  3. damn right RR...that would cut it out pronto.
  4. Need a special cheer squad banner for round 5 Chri$ Judda$ not that I'm bitter or anything
  5. Nero...with a touch of Caligula thrown in
  6. Understand why you would feel that way... The case for the prosecution : If the message is going to get through its got to be consistent "line in the sand" approach! The Defence: in light of recent events my client was desperate not to cop a speeding fine your honour
  7. Could be in for some cold lonely miserable nights if its mightier then his sword
  8. Brave Lad...you have been assigned the # 38 Guernsey and will be playing first ruck
  9. True...he should still have been at training. Somewhat relieved though that the the circumstances were an extraordinary situation. Hope things turn out OK for him on the home front, and that he gets his focus back onto his footy asap P.S. Modern communications mediums can be a real b*&tch....fancy having your personal life's dished out over the Internet willy nilly
  10. Steady YM may be upset if I nick that mantle from him... And read the players in orange as being "under the microscope" not necessarily out. 2009 Rucks: Meesen has to learn to play as a ruckman...otherwise why include him in the ruck division at all? We need him to learn fast - and remember this is his 4th year in the system, not his first. If he can't cut it as a ruckman he will need to become a KPP, either way - under the microscope. White might simply retire - there is more to life Jamar isn't quite an AFL ruckman so why keep him? Spencer isnt ahead of them, he's just still there I mention Natanui not because I want a wooden spoon, its just that he would be the most promising target should that eventuate. Either way, looking ahead our ruck stocks are average, its a matter of 'when' not 'if' for the overhaul. 2009 Forwards Robbo is under the microscope because he will have to produce even more if Neita retires. I suspect he will stay for 09 [he's contracted] but hopefully his spot will increasingly come under pressure from the improvement in players amongst our 20-23 year old group. Robbo's ariel marking is a delight to watch, but he's also very slow when chasing defenders. We may not like to admit it, but the opposition teams see this and exploit it on a regular basis. DB see's Newton's future as being a FF, this would give Miller [once Rivers is fit] a chance [last one?] to return to CHF and re-establish himself a strong aggresive lead-up forward. There's plenty more to debate...it's by no means a rose coloured glasses thread...not everyone's going to agree or like it, it may change some minds / ways of thinking, and with sound arguements you can change mine as well.
  11. KICK IT...or if that options not available give it to Simon Buckley...or Aaron if he happens to be nearby
  12. Following on from the breakfast and relevant to your thoughts above DB describes game plan as "speed of ball" as opposed to "speed of legs"...cited Geelong as an example. DB admits handball got overused in the practice matches and not the game plan going forward. DB thinks the biggest challenge to any AFL coach and team is to move the ball quickly through "the bermuda triangle" - central corridor
  13. Back from the Leighoak. Good fun, some good question's Seems a few players I'd hope to be fit are unlikely starters for Round 1: Rivers, Frawley, Bartram, Wheatley, but Bruce is 50/50 Backs Bell Carroll --------- Pettard Miller Bruce Midfield White Jones McDonald Buckley McLean Morton.C Forwards Green Robertson Dunne Newton Neitz Davey Interchange Johnson.P, Moloney, ----------,---------- DB seemed to play down expectations of Cale Morton playing too much footy in the 1st half of 08, but I've a sneaking suspicion he may get a run either on the wing or off the pine against the Dorks. Have fun filling in the gaps
  14. It won't be long until global warming is attributed to Robbo's involvement in this show
  15. MO64 I think you may have solved the puzzle with Wheatley being the missing piece re the PLUS ONE [hope he's fit] can slot on at HBF or CW As for the rest Interesting to put Rivers at BP...is that to reduce the risk of Frosty crashing into him??? I hope your right that Bruce is fit to play without too much injury risk so in: Bruce, Valenti, out: Newton, Frawley...so am I right in interpreting these two as some of the average tall's you were referring to?
  16. Needs must when the devil vomits on your doorstep!
  17. Not if he was "smashed with moderation" as Neita 3000 puts it. On a more serious note at the aerobic capacity these guys operate at these days the dehydrating effects of getting smashed are quite debilitating and will catch up with you. We could of course put a different spin on how we put the curfew to our more impressionable players. Son...its OK to go to a club full of comely young ladies, but if your not in bed by 11:30 then come straight home!
  18. Astonishing that someone with that close a proximity to Matthew Lloyd required acting lessons
  19. Rodney_G, current MFC player, or from another club?, please clarify
  20. My take on this FWIW McNamee is a non-AFL person, so he's probably just doing his due diligence as to where the AFL stands in regards to the its expansion plans and how that will affect the MFC [directly or indirectly]. If you were in his shoes you'd be mad not to have a "fireside chat" with the AFL before accepting the role. Interesting to see what transpires
  21. The round 1 selection panel conundrum...NB Underdone players in italics Backs Bell Carroll Frawley Pettard Rivers Bartram Midfield Buckley McLean Morton White Jones McDonald Forwards Robertson Miller Davey Green, Neitz, Newton Interchange Johnson.P, Moloney, Dunn PLUS ONE Already this line up includes 5 players who could be considered underdone as far as match preparation goes + 1 has me stumped as I would love to see McNamara or Martin get a game but this leaves us with a lack of midfield rotations, this is where Colin's brain explosion over the weekend has hurt us! I am assuming that Bruce won't be risked yet, same for Whelan. Could Yze still provide cover for a midfield rotation? Makes me wish Valenti was on the senior list. Will CJ be given a crack? I don't envy the match commitee's job next Thursday. Any demonlanders got any angles on a solution?...answers on a postcard please
  22. Maybe we're partly to blame for this. We've been calling for the club to celebrate our 150th from the start of the season. But in our defence I doubt any fellow demonlanders suspected that Colin could actually read?
  23. Robbo cleared of accidental head-on contact with Kate Cebrano [they say things happen in 3's] Scores: 9, 9, 9, 9 Thank god he was up first, I turn over the channel now To vote for Robbo: Text Russell to 19 19 77
  24. Deep scars RR <_< I have watched numerous replays and still cant believe we lost...worst day of my footballing life. Spent Monday & Tuesday at work, head in hands, inconsolable, totally unfit to work. Two ladies from the back office came up to me late Tuesday evening...so saddened and sorry for me about having broken up with my girlfriend the Friday before the game. But as it happens in the aftermath of the preliminary final I had completely forgotten we'd broken up at all!
