  1. Disappointed with the result, but I really enjoyed that game.

Missed shots from Garlett and Hogan really hurt. Frost missed a bit of a sitter too.

    Loved Vince's game today.

How good was it to see in that 3/4 scuffle that it was Brayshaw to get in amongst it, pull the captain out and push him away. Not shy is he!

  2. Last year it was on March 20, 2 weeks prior to the season starting.

If you give the HUN a call closer to the time, they can tell you the exact date.

Collingwood, Sydney, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs are all in todays paper

Called up the HUN just now to see when our poster would be appearing and they said this coming Thursday - 26/03

  3. Thanks for the training report as always TDI.

I'm generally more a lurker than a poster around here, but thought it was about time I chipped in with my thanks.

While I am here, I saw you at White Night. Walked past you and your lady at ~3am on Princes Bridge.

Almost didnt recognise you with the trimmed beard and no scooter! ;)

  4. I have to travel down from Ballarat tomorrow for a 1200 meeting in Fitzroy. So for the first time ever, I have chance to see the boys train at Gosch's paddock and maybe even speak to TDI. I believe he's not hard to miss.

I know some good soul gave advice on where best to park but I haven't been able to find the post.

Any advice would be appreciated (on the parking I mean)

Very rough, but you get the idea...

    Green line = paid (ticket)

Blue line = free (2 hours)

Red line = free (3 hours)

I almost always get a spot in the 2 hour section on Alexandra Ave.

Failing that, I can always find one on Anderson Street.

    Enjoy training! :)

  5. I was not "bemoaning a lack of information from the club" Saty

I did not know and I thought the question last night provided some useful information.

I am the more knowledgeable as a result of the question.

    Me too.

Something else I learned last night which may have been common knowledge for others is that the new Casey coach is on the MFC payroll.

  6. I am sure it has already been raised, but I would like to see the MFC try and do something along the lines of what Liverpool do pre-game (and what Port have started doing themselves more recently).

I was at the 'G for this in 2013...

...and it was absolutely spine tingling stuff.

Be amazing if we could emulate that in some way.

Would just need to find an appropriate song/anthem to belt out.

    My suggestion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8KQmps-Sog

Rise up and take the power back
It's time the fat cats had a heart attack
You know that their time's coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend :)
    (so come on)

    They will not force us
    They will stop degrading us
    They will not control us
    We will be victorious

  7. Interestingly a question was posed about potential for a standalone VFL team. While it was unanimous amongst the club that would be the preferred option, there is a binding partnership agreement with Casey in place until December 2018, and would be prohibitively expensive to break, so we're stuck with that alignment till then.

The other main sticking point PJ mentioned was that if we went standalone we would need a ground of VFL quality to play on.

Standalone teams such as Collingwood have Victoria Park, Richmond have Punt Road, Essendon have Windy Hill, Geelong have Simmonds... etc

Also, good job to the first person who stood up to the microphone and rather than ask a question, complained about the prices of beer at the bar... *facepalm*

  8. Ring the club.

I am confident that it is the AGM for the year 2014 so you need to be able to prove your were a member last year.

But as I said a call to the club will clarify it for you.

    To answer this one...

You need your 2014 card, but if you dont have it the people at the gate will have a listing of all 2014 members, which they'll use to check you off.

  9. I went by for a look today.

Not much to add really as most has already been said, but some observations...

    - Petracca has a beautiful penetrating kick. I was watching him for while and every kick he did whether it be high and low got to his target very quickly. None of those "floaters" that seem to take forever to arrive.

    - Frost was very vocal and yelling out heaps of encouragement both to the young fellas and the senior guys. Good to see from a young player who has only been at the club for 5 minutes.

    - Petracca & Brayshaw in comparison seem a lot quieter and less vocal. Sure that will come with time and confidence though.

    - Bit of a Roos spray after he pulled one drill up... "Now why did that break down? It's three on three and two of you are forward of the ball. It's never going to get out from there, I can tell you that!"

  10. Round 4 vs Richmond

    Round 7 vs Hawthorn

    Thanks!

What's that all about.. totally missed it

I have an 11 game (all home matches) membership.

As two of those games are played in the NT and I am not able to attend, I get 2 replacement 'home' matches in Melbourne

(technically an away match but I can get in on my home match membership).

Last year that was Round 4 v Carlton & Round 9 v Richmond

  11. There's a card for a program called "Melbourne Rewards"

    http://www.melbournerewards.com.au/

Free to join and members get 1000 bonus points, though no idea what any of that means as I have signed up or looked into it yet.

Other that that just the usual stuff... fridge magnet fixture, stickers & lanyard, which is decent quality again.

Nathan Jones on the Membership card.

    Oh and the calendar..

    Jan - Grimes

    Feb - Jones

    Mar - Dawes

    April - Vince

    May - Viney

    June - Watts

    July - Tyson

    Aug - Dunn

    Sept - Howe

    Oct - Garland

    Nov - Cross

    Dec - McDonald

  12. Well Gill doesn't think FA is benefitting top clubs exclusively. And he has a point,,,

"I think it's also worth noting that Beams [brisbane Lions], Griffen [Greater Western Sydney], Christensen [brisbane] and Ryder [Port Adelaide] all went to clubs that were seen one-to-two years ago as totally unfashionable and not destination clubs. This is a significant point."

Thats the view from HQ. We better work fast at making ourselves a desirable club if we really want to attract players.......

They were all trades, not FA's?
