  1. Vince lost his toenail in the first half, and played out the game. Apparently had a minor surgery on it after the game and MFC are hopeful he will be fine for the freo game.

Vince is tough. He knows we need him at the moment, so I back him to play through the pain if it's not 100%.

  2. Goodwin is following the system methodology, similar to the dogs. This is where you have 22 roles in the system and you replace an injured/out of form person with someone who can play that role.

So on that mantra, Spencer will come in for Gawn.

His next decision is to rest hannan and find someone to fill that gap. Maybe it's Brayshaw again, or maybe it's time for Bugg.

Our depth is truly being tested at the moment.

  3. I'd say Hogan gets 2 down to 1. It was intentional, high contact, minimal force. Exactly the same as Vince.

The only thing working in his favour is no track record.

Lewis is hard to tell, could be 1 or just a fine. Cripps only fell over when Viney bumped him.

  4. How quick are we to forget...

Kent was our best small forward last year, his pressure and kicking to an In50 target is up there with our best. He would be a welcome inclusion if he is close to 100% fit.

Tyson is again, one of our best. If he was close to BOG last week, and his defensive work and disposal efficiency has improved, he is in.

I understand we are short on backs then, I think they will rotate Jones and Lewis through there for some leadership.

  5. Outs: Smith, Vince

    Ins: Tyson, Kent

    ---------

FB: Jetta - Oscar - Melksham

    HB: Lewis - T-Mac - Hunt

    C: Stretch - Viney - Tyson

HF: Trac - Watts - Hannan

FF: Garlett - Hogan - Weiderman

    R: Gawn - N.Jones - Oliver

    I: Kent, ANB, Brayshaw, Salem

Salem, N.Jones and Lewis to rotate through HB line.

Tyson to fill the void of having one of lewis or N.J out of the mids.

With Kent coming in, he should spend more time in the fwd line putting pressure on with jeffy/mitch --> ANB to spend more time up the ground.

  6. Anyone know when the match replays become available on the AFL App/Website?

Also, anyone having trouble using their afl app login for the website for match replays? I'm subscribed, but it doesn't seem to register that on the actual site.

Amazing that a bloke who turned up to pre season training in poor condition is now suffering injuries as the season approaches.

He should have been given a rocket prior to Christmas, but we were happy for him to just plod along.

I envisage another Lumumba-style debacle on the horizon with this bloke.

And yes, Goodwin should be held accountable for whatever Hibberd and Melksham do or don't do over the course of their contracts.

    Jeepers.

    Few things to point out...

How do we know he turned up in poor condition?

How can we relate this guy to lumumba? Lumumba, the guy who once demanded a meeting with Obama? Needed extended leave for the loss of someone he never met? Got detained in south america?

    I'll say again.. jeeeepers.

  8. As much as we can play it down, and say its only for 4 points, and there is 20+ other rounds, etc. It's just BS.

This game is so important. Its season defining stuff.

We win and we will start to believe we are on the way.

  9. Joel Smith will be upgraded for Col.

Weid sounds like he isn't 100%, and they won't risk going in with an underdone tall (who doesn't provide a great deal yet)

Garlett, Tyson and Watts look like locks from the game on the weekend. Kent needs one more?

    ----------

FB: Smith (Membrey) - T.Mac (Bruce) - Melk

HB: Hunt - Oscar (McCartin) - Vince

    C: Stretch - Viney - Salem

HF: Trac - Watts - Lewis

    FF: Garlett - Hogan - Pedo/Spencer

    R: Gawn - N.Jones - Oliver

    I: Brayshaw - Tyson - Bugg - Jetta

    E: Harmes - ANB - Pedo/Spencer

  10. Omissions from JLT:

Weid was given 3 games to prove his readiness, which I believe he did not. We cannot afford to have Weid and Spencer in our forward line, as they both provide very little if they don't mark it. Spencer has looked better in that regard and also gives Gawn a great chop out.

Harmes struggled to have an impact in his 3 games, which means he will now have to fight back through the magoos.

    Trengove for the obvious reasons.

Garland again proved to be too costly by foot, and isn't much of an improvement on Oscar in the 1on1s.

    ---------------

FB: Jetta - McDonald - Melk

HB: Hibbo - Oscar - Hunt

    C: Lewis - N.Jones - Stretch

HF: Trac - Hogan - Kent

FF: Garlett - Spencer - Watts

    R: Gawn - Salem - Viney

    I: Clarry - Brayshaw - Tyson - Bugg

E: Garland (if Jetta/Hibb doesn't get through the weekend) Harmes (if Kent/Tyson doesnt get through) Weid (because hes close to 22)

  11. For those who haven't played so far in the JLT; Tyson, Jetta and Kent are the only locks for round 1.

However, in saying that, I think Watts will push his way in next week and Garletts speed will be wanted on Etihad.

If Spencer plays well against WCE, they will play him, but it will come at a cost of a tall forward (most likely Weid)

    Wagner won't be rushed back.

    FB: Jetta  - T-Mac (Memb) - Melk

HB: Hibb - Oscar (McCartin) - Hunt

    C: Tyson - N.Jones - Lewis

HF: Kent - Watts - Trac

FF: Vanders - Hogan - Garlett

    R: Gawn - Viney - Salem

    I: Spencer - Oliver - Brayshaw - Stretch

    E: Weid - Bugg - Harmes

  12. Not sure why people, including afl.com.au, has Weideman a lock for best 22.

He's very young and needs to grow into his position, and his body.

He's 18 months away from being in our best 22 IMO.

Pedo fills that gap for the next 18 months.

  13. So how would our best team stack up against theirs? Line by line analysis...

    ----------------

FB: Jetta (Fantasia) - Frost (Hooker) - Oscar (Stewart/Brown)

HB: Hibberd (Langford) - T.Mac (Joe) - Hunt (Zaha)

Joe is a trouble for us, but I think the rest of the match ups work in our favour. Dees win this line.

    ------------------------------------------

C: Vince (Goddard) - Lewis (Jobe) - Stanton (Salem)

I think this line is 50/50. Goddard and Jobe are class players, but Vince and Lewis have more aggression at the ball/man.

    ------------------------------------------

HF: Kent (Gleeson) - Hogan (Hurley) - Trac (Tippa)

FF: Watts (Dea) - Pedo (Hartley) - Garlett (Bags)

Our forward line will cause headaches for their backline. We are too quick for their backline, and Kent/Trac cause match up head aches. Dees win this line,

    ---------------------------------------------

R: Gawn (Leuey) - Viney (Merrett) - Jones (Heppell)

50/50 for mine again. Gawn is much better, but Merrett is ahead of Viney for the moment. Heppell/Jones are line ball.

    ----------------------------------------------

I: Oliver (Parish) - Tyson (Hocking) - Melk (Myers) - Brayshaw (Laverde)

50/50 again. Tyson is better than Hocking, but the rest of it is pretty much breakeven.

    ---------------

On paper, we should win. However, the hunger and passion may will them over the line.
