Yep, it was always a feature top right hand corner of the front page of the Saturday Evening Pink Paper Sporting Globe Final Edition, along with the lowest score of the day, providing just that little bit of extra glory to "kick the sweep" when all games were played on Saturday arvo and the die-hards at the MCG stayed back to see the scores from the other games get posted up on the scoreboard so we could work out the team percentage before going home to watch the replay and buy the "Globe", read the match report, and then suck it all up again on Sunday Morning with World of Sport!! That's when journos really earnt their money!!! Anyone remember that ???

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
I said previously just last week that they were persevering with Sharp because if he could get over the yips his pace would really be an asset to add to Kozzie and Windsor as our three jets, and that he needed to show some flashes of brilliance to gain more confidence to feel at home in the team. I think I was pretty much on song with the coaches and match committee with that in comparison to those who had him marked out as a DUD, even if I do say so myself!!! I have found that there is a lot of negativity here. So many had the Demons experimenting and getting games into inexperienced players because the season was cooked. Defeatism is not acceptable. Please support the team with positivity. Negativity is a cancer and even though they say they are not concerned with outside noise, it has a way of getting into the air and spreading I also commented previously that we had a very good list, that the season was long and by no means over, and that Fritta was dealing with a newborn and needed time , football not being everything, and even that JVR was not working and was against bringing him back for fear of clogging up the forward line. I think I was right with most of those observations. One thing not widely appreciated about Fritta is his aerial balance and thus his marking as third man up. He seems to have got that back and is running playing the team game. I thought he was great today!! I also said Turner should play forward. I am now revising that. I think he is really going to be be the centrepiece in the backline as the May Lever unit gets passed it...not yet of course, but later. Backline with McVee coming good, Turner, May, Lever, Bowey, Salem Windsor and Rivers...depth TMac is a (censored) cracker! May has a year or two, Lever a bit more, but by then Turner will be well -blooded. He reads the game well, is mobile and is a really solid mark. One other thing I reckon is worth mentioning is that Sparrow is a really accurate set shot for goal...He's shown that over a few seasons already. I had supreme confidence he'd slot that set shot, and bingo, he did, and he's a great kick for goal on the run from around 50 mts. Some here have wrongly and prematurely dropped him. He's having a pretty good year...I think he will get even better over the back half of the year. I thought his comment at half time about "the lost opportunities in the second quarter not really being a problem because their focus on defence around the contest inevitably, would naturally result in opportunities forward" was interesting. Great mindset I reckon. Go Hard and Go Often!! Go Demons!!!!!

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I think they may be persevering with Sharp simply because of his pace..which means he gets to contests and can be a target..if he'sat the contests that can slow the opposition down even without actually winning the contest. Sure he missed a couple last week but he had made position, and had he slotted them, he's a star, so, if he gets over the yips, he may yet prove to be an asset. Chandler had some lean days before he became a lock..I think they are giving Sharp time because we are not a fast running team..if he comes good that will be a win. Then we'll have three speedsters Kozzie, Windsor and Sharp...I am happy with him, he's flashed in a few times over the season, but hoping for a couple more flashes of brilliance to give him confidence.

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
Fritta deserves a full game after his efforts. It was a completely different attitude on Sunday...Played like a man possessed.. Shows that this game is played 90% between the ears. If he's got that attitude back, who knows why it had disappeared, as a proven match winner, he needs to start

PREGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
How do you quote just part of a post here?? And Correction for my last post.... Brisbane lost the first three last year, not five but Hawthorn did lose the first five... ..I really think those who say to give up on this year and start playing players who haven't really earnt a spot but need more games or any other such rot, need to pull their heads in. That's defeatism and is the sort of talk propagated by losers... We have a very good list and you'd better believe it . BUT, I don't think they are being played in positions that capitalise on the skills each individual play brings to the table .e.g Why wasn't Langford played in the opening round? Abysmal decision!. Rivers plays better run and carry kicking long when the game is in front of him. Should remain on Half back line. Viney has only just reinvented himself..his delivery into f50 has been terrible. Much better playing tag and coming off his player.when possible. Langton thrives running in space. Whoever thought to play him as a mid is a fool. Playing Turner back is ridiculous when he proved himself last year to be a reliable set shot kick and a solid lead and mark..So far ahead of JVR it's not funny.. And they bring JVR back into a winning team and shift Turner back with dire consequences for forward structure...It is gobsmackingly stupid. JVR should be tried back in reserves. Not a natural forward...but could transform to a Tomlinson type..not sure..worth a try! As I said previously Moore started forward and failed but succeeded as a defender. Different skills required between defending with the game in front of you and needing to turn on a dime and shoot for goal or find a target... Oliver started basically as an inside mid feeding the ball out of contest. Didn't actually kick that much and added his kicking later which is really pretty poor..long bombs nowhere..should go back to what he made his name at. He actually invented the overhead handpass and changed the game. Now every Tom Dick and Harry is doing it. Kudos to Clarry!! TMac underutilised as a swingman going forward. Excelled forward for a time went back having lost form to regain form and now a regular in form. Last year was moved forward against Fremantle in Alice when the game was over and marked and kicked a couple when none else could. Now he is back in form with Lever coming back could be used all over the ground where needed and as chop out for Max. No the season isn't over. Every team is beatable and we are just getting our best team back on the park. Been plugging gaps so far this year. Had three on the trot which by all measures should have been four. Naysayers...Wake up!!!

PREGAME: Rd 10 vs Brisbane
Didn't Brisbane lose the first five matches last year and win.the flag...and didn't Footscray win the flag from the bottom half of the eight. I don't think the we're done .yet IF IF IF we get selection right and stick with the winning team.. of the run of three we just selected against to and subsequently lost Teams get on a roll in.games but also in seasons. and towards the end..and into the finals..when they start to gel.. It's a long season That means stop living on.hope for JVR and Jefferson They are not playing their roles. Lastvweek I wrote I hoped JVR didn't gum up the open forward structure that han been working...and then there was Jefferson!! Fritta and Kolt go to the twos till they demonstrate some BRILLIANCE. Present form not cutting it We must stick with Turner Melksham and Petty forward, Lever comes back and resumes interception back May is nursed and the team as a whole is blessed with no more serious injuries On paper we have a good team Just need to get the paper team on the park and GIVE THEM TIME AS A TEAM!! This is best team on paper in form Bowey May McVee Rivers Lever Salem Langton Oliver Lindsey Langford Petty Melksham Kozzie Turner Chandler Gawn Petracca Viney (tagger) Int: Sparrow Windsor Spargo TMac (2nd Ruck)? Windsor Then comes.. Fritta Kolt Howes Hore Sharp to be promoted after demonstrating brilliance

May definitely banged up. Never recovered fully from the ribs last year. Brought back too soon and went down a second time. Langton took time, a couple of years to recover fully after ribs. And Trac still in the process a year after the event. Sadly May is done.

POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Hawthorn
We have no problem with i50 entries... Problem is having a goal kicker Langford was recruited cos he hits the scoreboard. Guess what? He hits the scoreboard. That second goal of his showed the skill of a real forward..It was instinctive It reminded me of Peter Hudson who was not a tall forward but kicked goals from everywhere I'd be trying him at full forward I've stuck with Fritsch but he is badly out of form and should be dropped. We should have won..Fritsch missed two sitters Spargo missed one Max missed one and Kozzie was robbed of one.there are 30 points there And Max is still living the dream. Fact is he can't kick straight set shots from close in and must be made to eat humble pie and give it off to a runner as a matter of course. I'd say Langford or Sparrow who it's a pretty shot for goal on the run. Trade JVR Aback to WA, Jefferson is a DUD. I'm sick of hopium ..Good skilful footballers come in and show their skill immediately as with Lindsey, Langford and Windsor Living on hope is stupid. It's so frustrating.. Time to be ruthless and develop killer instinct . I've had enough of the love.... We need to be killers.

Turner should have started forward...said it prior to game saying it now. JVR.not doing it Jefferson not up to it... Those selections were abysmal! Still should have won. What a muck up!!!
