  1. Of course they would. What I'm saying is that as a supporter there's no point saying that we should go after him when we have no idea of his records.
  2. I wouldn't even begin thinking about getting Judd without knowing his medical records from his doctor.
  3. Yup. And if the replay GF is a draw then the location of subsequence rematches move in a clockwise direction around Australia.
  4. What if 1 team kicks 7 behinds and then the opposition kicks a goal?
  5. Will Carlton be tanking in round 1 or will they field a full team?
  6. When I first read this thread I thought that it was announced somewhere in the meida that Judd was coming to Melb! But seriously tho, congrats Ben & all the best in the future.
  7. LMAO mo, you just proved Ash's post to be spot on. The thing about the Shinboner spirit is that nobody rates the Kangas even when they are winning games, so every win that they get is against the odds.
  8. The reason why they go to extra time instead of replaying during finals is because it sets everything back a week if there is a draw, like what happened in 1990. For a Grand Final you definately have to replay it, as in extra time the first team to kick a goal has always won & the other team has remained goalless.
  9. Have you ever played sport competitively? How would you feel if your team dominated for the entire season and then got eliminated or were given a huge disadvantage just based on 1 game, after 22 good ones. What is the point of having 22 useless rounds and then a finals system? Why not just have a 4 week knockout tournament and decide the premiers just based from that? The reason why I (and others) are mocking you is because your point doesn't have any logic attached to it. You also misquote coaches when they talk about finals. When they say that the past 22 rounds mean nothing when it comes to finals they are referring to the team's chances of winning the next game, as the intensity of the matches increase and teams/players react to situations differently because of the added pressure. They are not talking about which ranked team should be given an advantage over the others, because I reckon 99.9% of players & coaches of any sport will believe that advantages in finals games should be given to higher ranked teams (unless they believe that finals shouldn't happen at all, which is a completely different case). Anyways, I'm going to give up on this, because there's no point going any further. To be 100% honest, this isn't a healthy debate because it isn't 2 sides being equally fought out. Instead, it's everybody laughing at you because of the point of view that you're trying to put forward. All I can advise for you is that you go & join some form of sporting club and get involved in a finals system. Then come back & tell us all whether you believe higher ranked teams should benefit from what happens over the course of a season or whether a team should be rewarded based on 1 game.
  10. This is like trying to teach japanese to a monkey. OF COURSE YOU SHOULD REWARD THE HIGHER PLACED TEAMS. THEY FINISHED HIGHER. Honestly, which team do you reckon would be harder to beat? The 1st best team on their turf or 8th best team on your turf. By your point of view 4th should get 2 consecutive away games & 5th should get 2 consecutive home games. THAT IS NOT AN EVEN COMPETITION. What you are believing is that the hard work that teams have put over 22 rounds gets thrown out the door and the team who wins 1 game should be given an advantage solely because of that. Let's look at it this way: Team A wins 18 games in a season & finishes 1st; Team B wins 10 games & finishes 8th. Team B somehow manages to fluke a win in the first week of the finals, so then the ladder is re-structured and now the 8th ranked team has an easier way of winning the premiership than the team who worked so hard to get to 1st. That is 100% unfair to the team that finished higher on the ladder, and most people who have played any kind of competitive sport before should agree.
  11. The biggest flaw in the old system is that the teams that finish 3-6 have to rely on results of other matches to see whether they get the week off or get eliminated. THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN A FINALS MATCH. Also, the system is too complicated for the average footy fan to work out who plays who in the second week. Atleast in this system you know that the winner of 5th/8th plays the loser of 1st/4th so it's simple. Also Deanox, your reasoning behind the loser of the 1st/4th has no logic to it whatsoever. In a finals series like this you want to give the biggest advantage possible to the team that finishes higher. What you are saying is that if 4th loses to 1st (which is expected to happen) then they should play an away game against the 5th team who has just won a home game against the worst side in the finals system. Therefore you are giving a huge advantage to the 5th placed team and a huge disadvantage to the 4th placed team. What you fail to understand is that the 3rd & 4th placed teams lost the first week because they were playing a harder team, and the 5th & 6th teams won because they were playing an easier team. Of course the 3rd & 4th team should get a home final over 5th & 6th because they finished higher on the ladder. The only issue that I have with the current system is that I would rather finish 4th than 3rd. Given that both teams have to play 1st & 2nd in the finals, I would rather play 1st in a double chance match & then 2nd in a do-or-die PF than the other way around.
  12. I don't think the players are tanking, but there's been some very suss coaching moves over the past few weeks. For example, Fevola being benched at the start of the second half last week against Essendon when they were 5 goals up, and the benching of him during the final minutes vs Collingwood when the game was in the balance.
  13. He should be thankful that they offered him 6 weeks at the AFL tribunal instead of 6 years at the Magistrates.
  14. It will be a battle of the rushed behinds - the team that wins the centre clearance will run the ball backwards to the opposite end of the ground & repeatitively rush the ball through the other team's goals. Has anybody seen the episode of South Park where the kids don't want to play little league but are forced to by their parents? Pretty much every team was trying to lose & it came to a battle of who was the worst at losing to who actually won the championship. :D
  15. If we're not going to have a rule because the umpires will get it wrong then we should just abolish all of the rules, so they'll never make a mistake again. If they make it a 17v18 contest for a given amount of time then clubs won't do it because it will give their opposition a huge advantage.
  16. I would prefer a 5-10 min send off rule (without replacement) as well as a report, especially in Grand Finals.
  17. The best thing about Friday night was that a road-blockage in every street around the MCG before the game would have prevented a good portion of people attending the match, thus lowering their gate receipts.
  18. If it ain't going into our trophy cabinet then send it as far away as you want to. It's survival of the fittest, so I don't want any other Vic club to win it.
  19. Apparently all the roads around the MCG were blocked before the game, as there was a Bob Dylan concert & the storm playing at Olympic Park.
  20. The correct answer was 7:15:23.106pm
  21. I'd take a win, but I wouldn't be disappointed if Carlton beat us in the last round so they wouldn't get their priority pick.

    Supporters

If you want to bag out a supporter group then get a clue before doing it. There have been many games this year in which there were barely any supporters outside the cheersquad area. The Essendon & the Kangaroos are 2 games that come to mind without even trying. Ok, I'll admit that we haven't been as loud this year as previous years, but what has there been to cheer about? And why do people rely on the cheersquad to get everybody - why can't they do it themselves? There are a few people who are constantly trying to get everybody going, but unfortunately not many follow (that's including people inside AND outside the area. Also, the cheersquad does a shitload of things behind the scenes that go regularly un-noticed. Those run-throughs don't make themselves & they generate hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the club through sponsorships each year. They run stalls on the family days, travel interstate and do various volunteer work around the club. Some of them get to each game at around 10am and don't leave until about 6pm because they're doing little things that need to be done. So next time you want to accuse people of doing nothing, use either of your braincells before posting crap.
  23. Why would you want to sack your coach when you're 2nd on the ladder?
