  1. Gary Ablett Jnr isn't even the best player that I've seen in his own family, let alone the best player that I've ever seen.
  2. Out of interest, how many players actually have played for our club? How many have played 50 games? 100 games? Given the amount of players that we've had, given that it's a top 150 list, I think that having a requirement for games is a bit rich. I would estimate that there has been about 600-700 players play for us, so if that is true then 1/4 of the players who have ever played for us will make the list! Even if the number is about 900, that's 1/6 so clearly it's not really an exclusive club to be in, so therefore why is a games requirement really neccessary?
  3. 1. The Melbournefc 2008 team is performing worse in the first 5 rounds then any other team in the last 10 years. True 2. Chris Judd would have saved this club, on and off the field. False 3. Judd would be a Demon had Kevin Sheedy been coach. False 4. Paul Gardner is an idiot. False 5. Dean Bailey is implementing a gameplan suited to quick, fit and confident footballers, ala. Port Power 2004. We do not have quick, fit and confident footballers. True 6. If Melbourne's performance doesn't improve after 6 rounds, as said it would, Dean Bailey will get the sack/resign. False 7. MelbourneFC will be a completely different club/brand/image in 3 years time. False 8. 150 years of history means nothing when you have 40+ years of mediocrity. False 9. The AFL was sitting back in its big, expensive leather chair last week at the site of 23k at a match played by two Melbourne clubs, and thinking "Goodluck, guys! You're on your own from here on in." Probably true 10. North and Melbourne will eventually join forces aka. merge. Possibly true 11. Most Melbourne members would support such a move. False 12. Melbourne's performance this year, on and off the field, is exactly what the AFL wants. They don't want 10 teams in Melbourne. The more the bigger clubs distance themselves from the smaller ones, the more oppurtunity there is for relocation and folding. True 13. Cameron Bruce is the most overrated player in the AFL. False (you need to be rated to be overrated) 14. David Neitz is finished. True 15. Adam Yze is finished. True 16. The Melbourne FC is finished. False
  4. We kicked the first 3 goals in Geelong.
  5. You should put money on it. We will be the biggest sure thing at 20-1 that anybody has ever seen in their lives.
  6. What's the odds of him doing the Brownlow/Norm Smith double? It'd have to be close to a dead certainty wouldn't it?
  7. It was great to see Juddas being the one who got screwed over on Easter Thursday for a change.
  8. If anything, he is further promoting the club. It's really a win-win situation, because if he does well then it's good publicity for him and he could even gain interest from people who aren't hugely into football, but if he makes a fool of himself then it brings out the human element in him and he's just a footballer having some fun.
  9. How can you call a forward selfish? Their job is to kick goals, so if they get the ball inside 50 then I'd encourage them to have a shot 9 times out of 10.
  10. I'm going to set the bar low this year, therefore any success that the club gets will exceed my expectations.
  11. Been to Adelaide. They are worse than Collingwood supporters. We had security to take us to the toilets during the breaks, and friends of mine had their hubcaps stolen and tyres let down during the game. Haven't seen WC over there, but I saw the final when we played Freo. They weren't that ferral, but they were absolutely deafening, even after we kicked a goal. At the MCG you'd be lucky to hear 5,000 chanting "Melbourne" after a goal, over there you had 40,000 chanting "Freeeeo" everytime they kicked one!
  12. Most hated teams: Carlton Collingwood Essendon Geelong Fremantle Most hated supporters: Adelaide Collingwood Essendon Carlton Hawthorn
  13. Carlton have a history over the past 40 years of buying premierships. It has happened before and it will happen in the future.
  14. Winning at any costs is where being ruthless comes from. No club succeeds in the long run by winning respect from other teams by trying hard and sometimes winning. Just compare the financial situation that the kangas are in, for example, compared to Collingwood or Essendon. The best sides in the world (and the sides that dominate over a longer period of time) in any given sport consist of teams that believe they can win any game in any position, and that belief is caused by arrogance. Just look at the Australian Cricket team, Manchester United, NY Yankees, etc. How many teams are there out there that market themselves based on the fact that they are well liked by their opposition?
  15. If somebody was to say that captaincy was in the contract, then I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. Judd is a natural born leader and he will do everything by example, as well as market their club brilliantly. Calrton aren't a bad side, as they did pretty well towards the end of last year. The only thing stopping them was that they weren't allowed to win a game! They will make the finals this year and win a premiership within the next 5 years.
  16. A team that will win at any cost and arrogant about it, and is hated by all opposition supporters because of it.
  17. If we were the ones taking the game too seriously then why did they put 19 on the field for the entire second half? It's not the first time that they've done it also. We're also bagged for having a game plan, well the gameplan was to keep it simple and help eachother out - something that you'd expect in almost any level of football. We also stated on out own forum that Ilsy would get tagged by somebody, so there shouldn't really be any surprises there...
  18. I honestly don't believe that we have anybody who is untouchable, but it'd take alot to get rid of McLean or Jones.
  19. Great summary, Rollo. Apart from the mention of the half-time mellee that nearly occured, you pretty much covered everything. Billy, don't worry about their over-reaction mate, they've been whinging about every possible excuse that's possible. I was tripped 70m behind play but you don't see me crying about it.
  20. Well it was extremely well captained by you and you naturally took control of everything. We had a game-plan and we executed it as well as we could have, we knew exactly what we needed to do to win & we did it. They can bag us out all they want for being as professional as we were, but at the end of the day we won by 100 points and were still running hard & strong at the end of the game.
  21. Guys, you should check out their forums http://www.saintsational.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40141, they have absolutely turned on each other! It's truly a hilarious read, especially them bagging us for the pre-match warm up. In all honesty, it's really sad to see all that because really all it is is a good fun muckaround game. Maybe they were a bit overconfident after giving Collingwood a bath, but there's no point in pointing the finger at any specific player.
  22. A great team effort by everybody, what a bunch of sooks the AFL players are for delaying their games yesterday due to heat. The temperature would have been around 30C today, and we handled it beautifully using nothing but bottles of water and shady trees (Also, well done to everybody who brought water). I'll be the first to admit that it was me who started everything with that Ilsy guy, from my point of view it was all in good fun but he didn't do much afterwards so I was happy with that. Also, great coaching by Whispering Jack & Redleg and Wise Monkey lead by example in every way as captain.
