Not sure non one-eyed supporters would agree with you on every aspect of this.

Still think Libba has Viney covered. Treloar is much better than Harmes and Smith is ahead of Brayshaw.

I tend to agree with you CYB, except for the fact that we won by 74 points.....Admittedly Libba had a shocker...which goes to show it is a team game...

(If I really cared my worries for the Dogs is that by the time the young tall timber comes online the mids will be too old - and their backline is very ordinary..)

The knife to the heart was BBB's goal in the final quarter within the first minute or so.

While we had blown them away so easily in the 3rd, the message Beveridge would have had for the team at 3/4 time would have been 'we are only 4 goals down..., we overcame that deficit in the second...., we can do it again".

But the ease at which that first goal was scored, would have just deflated any enthusiasm that they might have hoped to regain.  After that it was a one-way procession.

and that is what he said in his presser;  it wasn't that the Dees had the momentum but that the Dogs let it continue in the last.  He let slip something there... whatever was said at 3 quarter time it wasn't believed

Which brings up the question about how long can we celebrate the premiership and when is the right time to start focusing on the season ahead?

My circumstances are slightly different being in FNQ, no family and friends to celebrate with so it has all been online.  Having the celebration at the G was some closure I must admit....

That said though we will be at a family celebration in Melbourne soon, everyone is a Dees supporter so it will be fantastic.  Let it rip.  That will be my last celebration but I am still going to enjoy it.

Not sure how you focus on next season yet especially at this time of year.  There is hardly any football news.

What are you supposed to do:  watch repeats of our defeat by the Pies to get in the mood?

That’s what I’m hoping for as well.

The no d-heads policy introduced in Roosy’s days has helped.

I think 1991 was also the year Banksy and Mick McGuane hijacked the bus at the golf resort wasn’t it? So you are right they also had a few louts in the team.

And after the last one the Pies realised the players were running the club;  they had a culture problem.  I don't think we do.

Oh that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This is the outside of my pantry…

And this is where my pet chooks sleep. They don’t know it, but they go for the Demons, too.

And I’ve yet to mount all the awesome framed prints I bought from Joeboy. Gotta find the perfect spot.

You need a bigger pantry.....perhaps the MFC shop?

$2.4M in prepayments for merchandise and memberships paid for before 31 October.  That alone wipes out the profit.

Well accounting aint my strong point but this item impacts the balance sheet every single year (pre paid memberships) and has to land somewhere.  So yeah like every year it may be misleading long term but imagine how massive our profit would be if it landed next year. Um I think

What is yet to be explained is how a Future Fund will generate the $2M of profit in the current environment, that these venues did for us, on a capital base of only $23M.  i.e. a 10% return each and every year!

Very good question. My bank acc is paying 0.05% interest.  Could we put it all into Super😄

Btw I thought most clubs organised their books so as not to show too large a profit otherwise the AFL will ignore any request for assistance.

A win is a win whenever or whatever It was after our best performance to date in the 2021 season of smashing the Tigers. No mean feat for our lads to storm home over Roos in Round7.after realising that we were a serious contender.

    No mean feet......

Agreed. We’re absolutely hopeless against North at Hobart.

Even during a season when we win a flag and they cop the spoon, we still take 3 and a half qtrs to put them away at Blundstone.

Glad we have given Blundstone the boot.

  10. Interesting spin by the MFC

In addition, our travel schedule, will allow a large number of our interstate members and supporters to get along to the football and see the Demons in action in their home states.

was the initial forecast for a $4m loss this year? I remember hearing we would be $8m worse off ($4m/year) over 2020/2021 due to covid but not sure if that was a $4m loss or just $4m lost revenue. Either way a $2m profit is huge.

Not sure what the initial forecast was but Pert said winning the GF took us from break even to $2mill profit.  Thats many T shirts and caps.  Naturally there has been an increase in memberships which will have a flow on effect in years to come.

Does the club get the money for sales from the MCG shop? I hope so because that place was packed

    Directly, no.

The MCG is controlled by the MCG Trust who have leased the MCG to the MCC.

Naturally the MCG Shop can only sell licensed products, in this case AFL products, so some of the money will come back indirectly via the AFL.

    I think.
