Keilty won't play against the Crows, way too much of a risk in a much too important game. If he's lucky he might get a go vs the Suns if we need to rest someone. He had a good game vs the Cats, kept Buzza goal-less and to only 6 disposals, so he definitely is deserving of a game, but I don't see it happening given our run home. Pederson was very good against the Cats so if they feel they need to bring in another tall, given his experience at AFL level, I'd expect they'd pick him over debuting a Rookie.

It’ll be tough, Pedo was very good today
-
Mate I almost cried when he kicked that goal. Gutted. We fought well, but it wasn't to be.
-
Glad to see Keilty in the best, he was good and instrumental in the win. After the heartbrake of watching that Senior loss...... it feels good to have Dec mentioned as a good player for the day.

Typically Geelong.... the VFL game starts at 3:45, but the gates don’t open till 3:15. What an absolute joke.

Currently in the car with the Fam heading down the highway to Geelong to watch both the VFL and AFL games today. I’m not too optimistic but a dual victory would be fantastic today. Hopefully Keilty can have a good game too.

Petty broke a finger last week so that's why he isn't playing Kingy copped a decent headknock when AVB accidentally hit him when he was bullying through a pack, bit of delayed concussion I think. Yeah I would think so too, which hurts Casey as Geelongs can get opened up by switching the play a lot and Wags was probably the best at that for Casey off the half-back. I'm not expecting a good result for this game. Geelong have been the only team to consistently beat Casey over the last 3-4 years, we just never seem to play well against them. They are ranked Number 2 in Defence and Casey are ranked Number 1, so it's going to be a battle of the midfield and which defence stands up better (I'll back in Keilty, Hutchy and Pedo to rule the day) but if the boys can step up with the lack of AFL talent and win this game, I think that'd put a lot of confidence into the AFL boys, so we'll see.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DECLAN KEILTY
Drunkn167 replied to Steve13's topic in Melbourne Demons
So I thought given I have some time at work I'd do a little update on Dec. After a slow start to the year due to some injuries, after a strong pre-season, Keilty has been in some decent form in the last 2-3 months. I think he's close to getting his debut but given the importance of the upcoming games he'll probably miss out again. Maybe if they choose to rest an OMac or someone for the Suns game he could come in but I don't know how the coaches are looking at him. The knock on Keilty's game is he isn't a huge possession getter, but the majority of his touches are more often then not important. For example; on the weekend vs Footscray, in the last quarter we had just kicked a behind and the Dog's bombed it out from full back straight up the guts using the wind where it nearly reached half way. Keilty was in a 2v1 and stood up in front and pulled down a massive grab that even the Footscray supporters were cheering. If he hadn't won the contest there was a good chance the dogs could've used the massive bomb to get over the back which would have put them within 8 points in the last quarter, so I thought it was a big moment to help Casey win the game. My personal worry is if he doesn't manage to crack into the team this season, given he was a late rookie pick, and even though he is playing good football and is still improving each game, he might find himself without a job at the end of the year, but I hope and wish the club give him his 3rd and final year on the Rookie list to give him the best chance to show he can be a good player for this great club..... but we will have to wait and see.- 212 replies

Yeah he got through. Made a couple of mistakes (1 in particular I remember turned into a oppo goal) but had some nice touches too. Will take him a while to get back into the swing of it.
-
He did cop a broken finger in the first quarter.
-
All the goals here, some impressive highlights. At 02:55 it shows AVBs goal from the Centre... has to be almost 100m, and 3:33 for Sammys pack and goal.

The awards given out aftter the game went to Corey Wagner & Dom Tyson

This is true, I’m coming off a 12hr graveyard shift and come straight to the footy so apologies on advanced to everyone as i wasn’t able to focus on anything except the good goals and how Dec was doing

What a f***ing win! The gods were in our favour as the wind died down in the last but we faught it out against all odds. Weids amazing second half, Pedo and Keilty instrumental in defence, and some great work around the ball from the whole midfield. That was sick.

Pedos been good
-
I wonder anyone can mark, I’m behind the Footscray goals this quarter and with the wind and the sun directly in my eyes I can’t see anything
-
Nope
-
I think that goal just bounced through from 70m out
-
Keilty fantastic pack mark on the wing and Casey switch it and end up having a shot on goal
-
Footscray bloke just kicking to a contest I think but the wind got a hold of it for a goal from long distance
-
15 out directly in front would’ve wanted too but Casey doing okay against a strong wind this quarter
-
Sammy marks 30 out on the boundary at the non scoring end but kicks it out on the full Keilty been the best down back but none have been great. Petty hasn’t touched it
