  1. Let's just hope for ss many pies injuries as possible. Nothing life-threatening but serious enough to destroy a flag chance. A few knees in backs and a couple of footy knock out acts and a few other wishes. Plus a win. That's all
  2. I guess it depends on the act though. Maybe your rightly assuming the trend will continue. Do we need entertainment? What about a magic act? It's really a duplicate of the Superbowl. Let's do something different? A celebration of the game or the country or anything but overpaid hyped up oseas acts that use every pyrotechnic and stunt to distract from the rubbish music they make. How about a montage of the greatest marks...goals...tackles...plays...... That's the next four years and cheap as chips Maybe a local band to accompany it. A celebration of Oz sporting events could cover the next four to eight. Followed by the worst umpire calls and then some heroes of the country for a couple of years in different avenues. There that's the next 15 covered. Rinse and repeat and you have 30 years for next to the cost of a few beers at the footy. Goodbye overseas homophobic hacks.... hello reduced tix costs and better entertainment. Problem solved. Let's face it.......those stuck at the game line up to buy beer and food for 25 mins during the acts and those at home go out and do a hammy or acl by playing kick to kick in the backyard or street, with a belly full of beer. Monday after gf day is a goldmine for gps, surgeons and physios. Anyway I'm ok with music acts but why keep importing them? It smacks of insecurity and bad taste. And even if the older folks in the Afl have to pick a band from the 70s or 80s, there are some great oz ones for sure. Per Capita, we punch way above our musical weight. And I get the problem of this thread raising it's ugly head each year but maybe it should do. I'm tired of swift...Williams... Perry..bla bla bla If they could raise the dead they would probably bring back the Eagles.
  3. Is this really the best the AFL can do? How much will this jack up already outrageously expensive tix? And what's with the obsession of oseas acts, always,? We have the best bands in the world in Oz. Support them. Time to grow up AFL. We will never sell our sport oseas so give it up.
  4. I day we test as many key.playets as possible this weekend so they are nice and fresh next round. Oh wait. At least Rankine gets a nice little break Let's hope they ( the crows who said he was contrite and would accept whatever comes his way ) win or lose both finals and if the former, get smashed by the GCS in the big dance. Tee hee.
  5. All this thread has done has trigger me about the downfall of my self managed superfund. Thanks heaps.
  6. I know. I know. Fair point. I have moaned about Goody playing him fwd for so long I was boring myself. Not an easy task. And you and I have been on the same page about HP being out of his depth in this role for two and half seasons. And rightly so. I thought young Jeffo made a little progress and was unfairly dumped. But after fifty odd games of bagging the bloke it's been good to finally see he has learned something. He has played three very good games as a fwd . That's all I'm saying mate. Will he be our fwd Savior? Probably not. But at least for three weeks in a row he is actually moving in the right direction for once. It's better than anything else he's done. I'm just saying it's nice to see and hoping against hope, it keeps happening. Probably won't but if it does than Ill streak down my Street t if he wins a Coleman.i think the neighbors are fairly safe.
  7. I disagree TJF As a player masquerading as a fwd for over two years he has been consistently and rather than all.ovrbthe pace has been reliably quite poor. Bit the last three weeks have shown totally consistency and increased improvement each game. Almost enough to get a little excited about but at least enough to comment on and hope it continues. Because of it's one player we need to improve it's definitely him.
  8. Well it's certainly taken a very long time but the the last three weeks and games by Harrison Petty have been much better. Didn't think of be saying this. He is starting to move like a forward. I still think he's been one of our best defenders and I feel a lot t have forgotten how good he was in that role but three weeks of promising prowess as a powerful forward if I can go that far, is looking good. Given our dearth of quality tall fwds is he finally coming into his own in the role? Oh boy I hope so. I've been his biggest critic and not without reason. But credit due where it needs to be. One week...good day. Two weeks....luck? Three weeks..... there is something there. He's kicking at goal has improved. His contested marks have increased a lot. He looks faster. Often getting in front for a change. And his chasing and pressure acts have increased. Yes if this continues on the current trajectory than we may just possibly have a solution to our fwd woes. Big call and very early days but here's hoping he turns it on again v pies. Not just because I hate Cwood but four weeks..... Enough to almost say he's a fwd.
  9. There change in form has certainly changed our fortunes. Persviuouly and rightfully dubbed the dynamic duo they often changed the course of a game and season. Add to those two Greats, Jack Viney and to a lesser extent Harmes at his peak and it was a nightmare midfield for all coaches. Then of course Max with his precision tap work and the clearances were usually always in our favor. But aside from the downturn in those big names we had a lot others go backwards and or leave. I'm not sure if it's an issue of players breaking them. It seems more a case of side stepping or avoiding them in the first instance.
  10. I think the cricket is going south.
  11. Umps working overtime now Whoo hoo
  12. How appropriate kfc support pies
  13. I can't take this.. Hold me
  14. You beauty beautiful beaut.
  15. Time to switch to the cricket maybe. God I hate cwood. Scum of the earth including most of their supporters. At least they keep Centrelink in business.
  16. I will break something if pies win another close one.
  17. How the crows are winning defies all.logic. Marks pies...70....crows....52 Tackles..71...50 I50s 62......31 Clearances..44.....27 Come on crow eaters
  18. Fair call. Thanks Gibberish. Although it sounds a little sarcastic to say thanks, followed by your moniker. There is no denying our last six to eight games have been most disappointing but I think other than a brief glimpse of hope mid season the whole year seemed derailed by our first five games . But yeah often after a coach is removed, clubs inexplicably play better and manufacture a few wins. Not us. Our new coach will have a massive challenge on their hands.
  19. The season has come to me enjoying watching other games more. Especially seeing Cwood beaten. Bit I think that's always been a very close alternative.
  20. It is difficult to find that motivation when finals are definitely out of the pic. Even that ten percent random less figure I pulled out of nowhere is the world of difference. Some play for ego. Some like Max play because they are natural leaders. Some play because they are competitive beasts ( we could use a few more of these) and a lot at this stage are already thinking about the end of season holiday, weekend fishing/ golf or the dyi jobs around the house. Judging on today's effort,if say most have already checked out if not six weeks ago. That said I do feel we have fallen a long way down in such a short period of time. 21 a flag \ two years of double chances and while finals were ruled out a little later last year I still think we went out better. There are issues all over now. Our fwd line unravelled four years ago and has only shown the odd glimpse with Fritta and JM turning it on now and then. Our midfield is all over the shop. Rivers looked to be a solution but now isn't. Our touted best MF in the comp has gone the way of our touted best backline in the comp. Although the backline is still probably our best asset despite May and Lever getting older and losing their touch. Ironically Tmac riddled with injuries and older is probably our second best defender with Turner still holding things down. But he's gone a little quiet. We really lack depth. Why do we grab onto players other clubs don't want and then never play them....McAdam...billings... schache etc? Or rather why get them in the first place. What are we doing to replace Max, God forbid he gets injured? But he's getting on in years for sure. Why do we keep having to play Sparrow.... because there isn't anyone else. And he's not alone. In 21 you had to hurt someone at training to get a gig. Sure we have some good young talent but where are the new Oliver's Langdon's Traccs and so on. Yes it was a powerful list but we must move heaven and earth and do whatever it takes to do it again. Maybe we are looking at three to five years but let's at least start. Sacking Goody was a good sign and start. To borrow a line from Breaking bad.......no more half measures.
  21. Actually I think I was a bit hard on Roo. Didnt destroy them but a serviceable game for him. He's played over fifty games so I am disappointed he has not only not improved but definitely gone backwards. Probably not worth much trade wise. Gee I hope Jeffo turns up and gets at least a fifth of the chance Petty has had. The latter finally showing form. Who would have thought? Not me. Let's hope it continues. What's happened to Oliver's disposal the last few years? It's as if he's just happy to get his hands on it but not too worried where he sends it. That sounds rough but if it's not a hospital handball it's often just thrown onto the boot. It's made a big difference to his and our game. He wasn't too bad in terms of pressure acts and getting the pill but he needs to work more on finding a teammate not under pressure or in more space. Thirty odd disposals doesn't matter if they go back to the opposition so often. Apart from Max, where have our reliable markers gone? Where are our equivalents to Sicilly, Gunston et al? Hawks had three players with ten each. We had Max and Jvr with six and Viney our third with five? It's been problematic all season. Finally despite the criticism it's the second last game of a torrid season against a genuine flag contender so one should not be be too disappointed. I.just hope we are ruthless under a new coach and we assemble much more depth...not has beens from other clubs so we can drop players at will if they play poorly. How many times to we see players gifted games because there is nobody to replace them with? Anyway hopefully onwards and upwards And please put up a better fight against those thugs next week.
  22. Classic display of top four contender versus bottom four contender. Ñot expecting too much next year. On Kozzie money I expect more than that . But perhaps he's hardly motivated with some of his teammates. A brave coach to take on this job.Melksham has done his usual turtle trick and gone back in his shell. He's always been inconsistent. Had a purple patch for a little while but but constant form was always his problem. Add on Fritta having an off day and ironically Petts was our best fwd. For 3 weeks in row he's played his best footy. Maybe after two years Goody was right. Our backline pressure with Mcvee, McDonald and May not laying a single tackle isn't good. Bowey ,Salem and Rivers 16 ... Top effort.
