  1. When you support MFC it pays to have a long memory so you can remember the (few and far between) high points. Like the 1987 finals ! I must admit today at half time I expected a 100 point flogging so I guess the fact that did not happen is some small consolation ! But we did win 11/12 last year so we must have been doing something right then. (But we lost twice to Carlton !!). Freeo are under pressure at 0/3 too so both are in the same boat, lets beat them next week and at least get some hope for later in the season.

i heard a lot of 'oh dont worry ame this used to happen a lot i remember whole seasons were we had 100pt floggings every week..'

i love going to the footy with old people ^^

  2. Bob,

How will they be able to go into the market and interview prospective coaches without the media finding out and ND is still in the saddle?

If this season continues to be a disaster, I would expect ND and MFC Board to come to a mutual understanding that lets the Club move forward with its future with transparency of process.

FCS, I think ND will be sick of it anyway by then.

if, and this is a major if, ND is gonna leave, he should do it around the bye. getting a new coach with a break would work well - check out the team, has half a season with them, etc etc etc

i'm still a ND supporter tho.

  3. I used to think that too, but I no longer do.

If it is the players then why are they playing so poorly?

No motivated? Not good enough? What is it?

If they are not motivated, then we clearly have the wrong players at the club.......not good enough......then again, we have the wrong players.........who is responsible for that???

We didn't fire a shot in preseason, apart from a scratchy win over the Tiges (I think) and the rest of our play has been rubbish!

If the players aren't prepared and fired up for round one, two or three, then whose fault is it?

Injuries is a cop out! Sure we would love to always be full strength, but it's never going to happen. Plenty of clubs have injuries at the moment, but we seem to wallow in it the most, and we always have!

Collingwood came back from a Perth road trip, had no Buckley, Didak, Ben Johnson, Rusling and Clement........and they sent Tarrant packing at the end of last year.....yet they find a way to win over the Tiges!

Adelaide......no Riciutto, Hentschel, Biglands, McGregor, Johncock,.....still manage to back up from beating the Doggies by rolling the undefeated Power.....not an excuse in sight!

St.Kilda.........Ball, Maguire, Hudgton, Hamill, Riewoldt (until this week)

We are the experts at making excuses for injuries we really are.

In each of those examples, the coach has still been able to put a team on the park that is firstly competitive, and secondly has a chance to win. We have not looked like either at all during 2007!

I didn't expect us to win today, but I sure as hell expect us to be a lot more competitive!

    *bows down*

    you have a (quite) point.

  4. Neale Danniher is employed to teach the players to kick tackle and mark.

If its not his fault then whos is it?

There is something wrong with the way he coaches.

All the kids come to our club as 'HUGE POTENTIAL" and somewhere along the line never quite make it.

i would say the blame rest squarly on the shoulders of the players.

on paper, todays team, if they played to their potential, should have been better then they acted. they should have been competitive!

  5. As it is so early in the season, a few massive wins would turn that around straight away - the problem is getting those few massive wins!

AGREED!! whos kicking the goals needed for those wins?

i'm starting to think that we'd have more of a chance if we fielded sandy's premiership team from 04-05-06

DemonDoug - my mother has been a demon since she was born. her first 25 years of supporting we didnt make the finals... (she was 2 in 1961)... and she still goes every week! thats loyalty.

where i was sitting today (under the clock) there was a lot of negativity happening. we have to stop turning on our own..

cheers to the guys who stood up when we finally reached five goals & showed a bit of enthusiasim - PLEASE keep it up.

  6. Yes - perhaps you should have stayed home - you could have spent the afternoon teaching your son about LOYALTY!

Norm Smith would struggle to get a win out of the side we are able to field at the moment - take away players of the calibre of Neitz, Robbo, McLean, Rivers, Sylvia, Bartram, etc, etc, from any side and the too would struggle.

The past few years we have promised a lot and then been hit by injuries towards the end of the season - maybe we are getting all the bad luck early and will wind up with a huge end of season - the right end!!!

Anyone else share my optimism or are you all jumping off the bandwagon?

    'footy breeds optimisim'

    :D

wouldnt our percentage be so bad now that making the eight will become almost impossible?

  7. Just get rid of him ASAP

Any alternative has got to be better.

I came to this conclusion at half time today when my 12 Year old son looked @ me & said

" I should of stayed home & done my homework instead of watching this crap"

    Enough is Enough

i should have taken the extra shift i was offered at work >.<

i dont agree with the whole get rid of daniher now mentality.

it wouldn't be good for the team.

its not his fault they cant kick, cant tackle, cant bloody mark and we've got a debilitating injury list.

stop making daniher a scapegoat - its injuries & players that are the problem.

  8. Bell, Moloney and Jones... all under 23, and all full of heart.

The rest were on the wrong side of rubbish. Be it in their disposal, their hardness, or their willingness to chase.

lets just hope none of them get injured, yeah?

enjoyed watching all of them play today. green showed flashes of .. well better then the rest. he actually ran to the ball when he was in the forward line. he should have started there!!

  9. *hits head with keyboard*

him & jones seemed to be the most consistant players today - our first two goals were delivered via some magic from them both. to loose either one would be horrible..

i dont think we'll have enough experience to make a team by round 6.
