  1. You blokes have no idea.

I have it on good authority that while the cruise was going on last Saturday arvo, Judd was fulfilling his vital role as environmental emissary for Visy. Not one of his players was allowed to chunder their poisonous bile into the Yarra (they left that on the deck) and not a single tinnie was allowed to drop off board to pollute the waters of our precious little river.

The man can do no wrong!

  2. SNAP.

Laugh at your own peril. Fact of the matter is that the Carlton boys are into serious training. Right at the moment several of them are fighting for right to wear Fev's coveted # 25 guernsey and they're all making a great fist of it. Sticks is over the moon!

  3. Check out the leap in the first ruck contest !!!

No look at this kid from the point of view of a record look at the way he filled the space for selection. He was always going to be picked in the draft.

Apologies if it has already been posted.

If we have him and Jurrah playing on the "G" someday I don't know what I will do....

    Go Dees.

  4. It's still a while before we get the opportunity to sight any Melbourne players in action on a footy field. I'm not sure whether there will be a Darwin Indigenous All Stars game this year (if there is, then rest assured, you'll see some Demons on the field that night). Otherwise, the AFL action will take off soon after in February in the NAB Cup pre season series. One hopes that this year we'll see more of boys in the red and the blue in action and performing at a higher level than in recent times. Perhaps a change of luck and an appearance in September?

Does anyone know if there's going to be an indigenous game up in Darwin next year. Might be inclined to head up there if they have one.

  5. Ball is an AA, a former captain, a B&F winner & was one of St. Kilda's best players in the GF, Scully on the other hand could be the next Jack Watts.

In describing Ball you should have used the adjective "former" when referring to all of his attributes. Fact is that he's a has been and Ross Lyon knew exactly what he was doing with the broken down hack with the big head. So too did the recruiting staff at several clubs who passed on the million dollar man with the 50 cent body.

You don't like Jack Watts? You expected Melbourne to take a schoolboy doing his VCE and play him for 22 games in his debut season so that they break down his mind and his body the way Malthouse did with Josh Fraser all those years ago?

Happy with your drafting? Let's see ... one cripple (Ball), a reject from a club that hasn't yet come into the competition (Thomas) and a reject from the wooden spoon club who has OP and can't kick (Bucks).

No wonder you find the need to troll around opposition sites making comments that put even the most imbecilic muppet to shame!

  6. I made a start on this last night and I'm working very slowly and methodically through the players available. Here's my first draft:

    1. Gold Coast - David Swallow (Subiaco, WA)

I'll build on this as the year unfolds.

Just imagine the excitement in the Hugh Trumble Room as they start the countdown from 10 to 1 with our pick somwhere in the 20s! :o

  7. I think you should check your facts as well because on your information as above Collingwood only lost four times against the other top 8 clubs. I make it 6 of last year's top 8 -

Geelong, St. Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Carlton and Essendon beating Collingwood in 2009. It's not a good idea to turn up around here trying to make an argument when you're factually challenged.

Did you really expect that a Collingw&%$ supporter was capable of counting past four?

  8. McGurk should stick with the Demons

    Caroline Watson | November 1, 2009

MARTY MCGURK and Melbourne must wonder how it came to this. Back in October, 2008 the Demon utility who once topped his clubs' polling in the Zebra reserves best and fairest voting sat down during the club's end of season trip to Wangaratta with Nathan Carroll and Ben Holland for a lengthy conversation with The Sunday Age about life as a footballer and Melbourne's 2009 prospects.

McGurk, now 25, was one of the three club members destined for delisting. He was also one of Melbourne's lowest-paid players - definitely in the bottom three. He was saved from delistment because of his lowly  remuneration which kept his club's total player payments below its salary cap limit.

  9. Sounds good to me, now i've got hunger pangs for a Monaco Bar.

On topic though, i've got the feeling that Ball will stay on board with the Saints as well now.

I disagree. My mail is that the Magpies want him with a passion and have been making a big play for him to declare his allegience to them. The first part of the strategy is to drop hints here and there to the effect that he doesn't want to play for the team that won the wooden spoon. Next, he'll say he doesn't want to play with Fremantle because the purple gear doesn't match the colour of his eyes. Port Adelaide's no good because the ground's on the wrong side of the railway tracks yadda, yadda, yadda ...

  10. I don't really care if it was plagiarised. It could have been completely made up for all I care.

    ...

He's given me more insight into this particular kid than anyone else on this forum.

That's wonderful. You're looking for insight into a player but you don't care if it's been "completely made up."

You might be easy to please but we should refuse to accept the appalling standard set by Dr. Jekyl. We would have obtained the very same insight into Aaron Black had he properly attributed the views expressed as coming from Gilly34 on TalkingCarlton.

What the Dr. did was unacceptable on a forum such as this!

  11. It's a completely different game these days. It's fully professional, there are 16 teams, interstate travel, programmes favouring certain higher drawing clubs, the interchange, salary caps. the rules etc. All of these make it harder for young teams to climb to the top quickly. It might be a longer ride but I suspect we're still going to enjoy it!
