Seems there are double standards operating within the AFL and Andrew Demetriou has some difficult questions to answer about how the St. Kilda players who had sex with the 16/17 year old girl who can't be named were cleared. The AFL's policy on child protection applied to this girl but as per the Human Headline's column in HINCH SAYS
Rina Russo from MACSA, Mothers against Child Sexual Abuse emails:
‘Irrespective of whether the legal age of consent in VIC is 16, the AFL Policy on Child Protection addresses children for their policy as being Under 18! How then can these footballers be cleared by the AFL when they have breached AFL policy? Not to mention its policy on Bullying.’

The word I have from my sources in the west suggest that because Hansen was contracted for a further twelve months, the Eagles couldn't delist him until the next season. By delisting him before the National Draft, they risked going over the salary cap for 2010.
By delisting him after the ND, the pay out will go into 2011.
I don't know if that's correct but just information passed on to me.

Does anyone know why he was dropped for the SANFL Grand Final?

Chelly's Mock Draft
1. David Swallow
2. Harley Bennell
3. Sam Day
4. Ben Jacobs
That way if E25's inside information about Jacobs is right then we can say the Dees got an absolute bargain.

Would also make a perfect replacement for Cam Bruce who also played his junior football with the same club - Beaumaris!

Today during the media conference to farewell Presti, Pies Footy Manager Geoff Walsh tipped a bucket on Anthony. He said that Anthony was selected this year 7 times and dropped after 5 of his games. He then said that "any club looking to fix their problems by recruiting Anthony should be careful" or words to that effect.
I have never before heard a club official speak that way about a departing player, I thought the comments were amazing. They must really dislike Anthony. The question is why?
Bad breath?

From now until 13 March 2011 there are no 30 year olds on the MFC's playing lists.
... unless we do what at least one club is going to do very soon and that is, draft a 31 year old who wasn't sure he would get a regular run for his old team.

DB was aparently on SEN this morning according to DemonsHQ twitter and 3AW previous to that.
Ive tried to find them on the respective websites but no luck.
Anyone have any more success?
Cheers
Didn't hear them but my guess is that the boys back at training are all in good shape and most of the list are flying. Expects Cam Bruce back when the senior guys return on Monday and he should be among the fittest and ready to take on a one year contract being the consummate professional that he is.

The Hun confirms today that we play Sydney in Round 1 but that the game's in Sydney. Collingwood takes on Port Adelaide at the G and the paper says the Pies play more games there than any other club. What a surprise?
It's comforting to know that by round 1 we will probably have played away to more interstate teams than Collingwood does all year round.

Please say it isn't so Vossy - Trapper on Outer. This man is a legend.
Please let him play on!

I have a feeling the FD would be comfortable about retaining Newton one more year on the rookie list if that's at all possible.
Other than that, two players would need to go in order to allow us to use 49 & 52, the last of which we might optional at the ND and could be left for the PSD.
How many are still out of contract. They're the problematic ones at this point in time.

Bit of a worry with him riding bikes with Crackers though.

Sounds like a good move for Sanderson too after 11 years at one club. A new environment and new perspectives can only be helpful to his career. He won't go anywhere at Geelong working under Scott.

... the official website of the Melbourne Football Club carries a lead story entitled: "Raffle winner thrilled"!
-
That would be great.
Maybe we can get copies made for a donation that we can put back into the club or give to Reach?
Would love love love to see that last quarter. Hearing BT screaming orgasmically about Jurrah, but then seeing nothing but a random pixelated forest was so frustrating!
I'm sure there's a connection between the pixellated forest and the TV series "Lost". I reckon Liam Jurrah might be one of the "others".

In days of yore when there was no salary cap, no limit to the size of your list and you fielded seniors, reserves and under 19s you simply would not hold onto a player like Newton for more than 3 or 4 years let alone the 6 he's reached at this point in time. But it's 2011 and if he is kept on as a second year rookie the relative cost is minimal. It will be a case of rookie pick 89 or even less if Cam Bruce doesn't come to the party i.e. it's neither here nor there - the 46th player on a list of 46.
The odds are against him and I remain skeptical but historically, there have been cases of players coming out of their shells when given different roles. I'd give him a chance to develop in the new role of back up ruckman cum forward. There are about five weeks during the pre season NAB Cup/NAB Challenge/practice matches when clubs can experiment. He can be tried in that role or he can be given a run in defence. Stranger things have happened.

Btw, has anyone told you lately what a [censored] you are ?
Is that supposed to be a rhetorical question?
-
I didn't ask a rhetorical question. It was genuine. You're familiar with the difference ?
I'm well aware of the difference and my post responded directly to your questioning of Demon Hill about whether Daffey produced a top 25 and it proved you were wrong. He didn't produce only a top 10.
Your statement asking if I'm familiar with the meaning of rhetorical questions reminds me of Homer Simpson in the following scenario:
Grandma Simpson and Lisa are singing Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" ("How many roads must a man walk down/Before you call him a man?"). Homer overhears and says, "Eight!"
Lisa: "That was a rhetorical question!"
Homer: "Oh. Then, seven!"
Lisa: "Do you even know what 'rhetorical' means?"
Homer: "Do I know what 'rhetorical' means?"
-
Daffy only gave his top 10, didn't he ? And who was the "one other" ?
Facts aren't your strong suit.
suit, shmoot, looks like a 25 to me -

According to Twitter, player/manager Alex McDonald says Demon Kyle Cheney could be traded by the club.
I would suggest some form of low key trade might transpire because he would only be worth a mid to late draft pick.

Norwood fall short 9.11.65 to 10.11.71. That first goal to Centrals against the wind in the final quarter did us in.
-
Goal to Norwood
8 points
-
There goes the bell.
Central District 9.11.65 v Norwood 7.6.48
Won't be easy from here despite the wind advantage.
