I hear what you are saying. However, Roos seems to have this amazing ability with his fellow MFC staff at all levels. He seems to have this excellent ability to delegate and get people to work for and with him. I think he has the ability to place his trust in others and he gets rewarded 10 fold in return.

Roos is 100% the man for the job today. His role is more than just coaching. He is setting the foundations for a whole new culture.

Roos will never ever "totally recruit" a team at the MFC - he is only here 3 years. His role as a consummate media performer is to build & sell the foundations of a new culture. Sadly we are one team in the AFL that a pre-requite for a coach is the ability to perform in the media. With all due respects Roos is dealing with a club that is massively under funded in comparative terms in the current AFL competition - hence this has led to poor recruiting and development decisions. You have to deal with the cause not the symptoms. Can I say that again - if you genuinely want change you have to deal with the cause not the symptoms.

Bingo Re Essendon - short bump in the road for the Bombers all will be forgotten soon. They are still a Big5 power house club and they will be around for many, many years to come.

Under AD absolutely no doubt he wanted us to survive under his tenure. However, things change .... we have a new leader and on Gilligans island the rules have changed. If you think it all comes down to on-field success you clearly dont understand the landscape we live in. Sure on-field success will help but it wont save the MFC on its own. I actually know the opposite the AFL have a very low respect for the MFC .... only time will tell is we can turn that around.

What you mean is 2-4 Victorian clubs will go to the wall. You can bet your ass unless MFC grow their memberships to +60K, massively increase their core business revenues and attract +40K plus average crowds per week AFL patience will run out. AD single-handily saved us on 2-3 occasions during his tenure but PM Gilligan is far more of a politician getting ready to drop the axe when his TV rights masters tell him.

Appointed being the keyword AFL does not trust MFC members to elect its own board.

TV rights are dying the real judgement day will come when the AFL understand the value of the internet rights and begin to carve them up. I agree with Nisbett the strong are getting stronger. My prediction is the next CEO of the AFL will come from an ex-big 5 club. The big will swallow the weak. We had our chance to get one of our own up - but sadly his own knifed him in the back and are still twisting the knives today.

Not all clubs in Victoria will survive. You would be delusional to think MFC are not fairly and squarely in the gun. The only people that can stop the trigger being pulled is the MFC supporters - win lose or draw any games.

Although actual numbers are important the real number of importance is revenue raised from memberships. I have a very good friend as high up as you can go at another club and in his words "the AFL 3 game membership are killing some clubs" Sure their numbers are up, but they are now working on getting revenue up per membership. Hope we are doing the same but I'm not sure we are, we are struggling to hold the numbers we have.

We have a few seriously sick individuals that support this club. Time to move on, get over it. its clearly doing your heads in.

Defamation is a moving feast for internet lawyers ( now world wide ) places like this are ripe for the picking - over emotional angry supporters posting innuendo, speculation, lies and mis-truths. Our very own Joseph Gutnick proved country boarders are now no longer an issue. Both the site owner and site host are capable of being sued, "as the publishers". Its only a matter of time before this place and others like it get sued. Thanks to meta data you can run but you cant hide.

Yeah sorry Im still trying to work out what this community is aiming to achieve - a negative talk fest/vent which appears to be media inspired ( implying many contributors appear distanced from the club ) or a positive way it could contribute to the MFC.

Maybe then a better question would be - What can Demonland do to help the MFC achieve a better passmark in 2015? Apart from the obvious buy memberships.

No on the contrary I really like your post. I'm convince this club has a solid core of outstanding amazingly positive committed supporters and then there are the others. I suppose I just thought some people spend like 16000+ posts of wasted internet time - imagine if they invested the same amount of time positively into the club. "if it is to be its up to me"

The feeling was mutual. I will take from your comments Ive hit the nerve of truth. Your obvious distance is glaring - yet you appear to have a deep rooted desire to contribute. Consider this. If your football club valued this place why would it not be here participating in the community. No it elects to monitor the community yet not contribute. The governing body of the competition would not even let MFC members elect its own board. Wonder Why?

You are missing the point. I agree there is a fair amount of passion demonstrated here. Most threads are almost unreadable, over flowing with negativity, name calling and down right mistruths. As an outsider, perception is stronger than reality. You wanted realism, look around objectively and consider what newbies would think. You know the same people you want to join to grow your community. Do you think they see this place favourably or unfavourably? Rightly or wrong you are a reflection of the MFC affiliated or not.

Definately not, this club has a fantastic core group that have remained positive and committed for many years. A truly amazing effort.
