  1. The land isn’t owned by the MRC, so other than providing input they won’t have a say on the final decision.
  2. Our ‘ageing’ stars are no different to a lot of other sides trying to contend. Lions have Neale, Cameron, Zorko all over 30. Collingwood have a heap of over 30s. Cats have Stewart, Danger, Cameron all over 30.
  3. I think the idea is that during the winter months the ground can suffer from too much use. Being able to switch to a different oval would give them time to recover, meaning training conditions won’t be effected.
  4. That’s not correct. We managed some high net investors and would often place investments ranging from $100k to multi millions in unlisted investments. In Australia to gain access to these investments you need to have either an annual income of $250k or net investment assets of over $1m. Given the MFC is essentially a corporate entity with over $20m of investment assets they would absolutely have access to these types of investments. It would be dependant on the investment mandate of the club’s investment trust as to what they can or can’t invest in.
  5. I’d be very surprised if the whole fund was invested in a balanced portfolio. There is probably a portion of it that is invested in a managed fund or direct shares though. It would be great to know what they are invested in, but the majority of members probably wouldn’t understand what it all means so they probably don’t see the point… I’d be very interested personally but I have a background in that industry.
  6. I imagine that investment fund would have a lot of unlisted assets, which aren’t so affected by the share market. Having dealt with large investment portfolios in the past, they often get access to investments not available to the average punter. This can be things like large commercial debt and infrastructure projects that pay a guaranteed rate of return. Plus they would have some fixed income assets and there are income producing assets such as Metrics that offers an 8% return pa. While nothing is ever 100% guaranteed, you can manage the risk in different ways. For example, if it is a commercial build, for example a shopping complex, they will offer a much higher rate for initial investors while the project gets off the ground. Then in say Tranche 2 or 3, the rate will be lower but so is the risk, as they may have permits in place etc. so they now just need to get the build completed.
  7. What is our stance on AI and do we think it will help or hinder our training methods
  8. The fact Brad Green had to answer a question about if the club was against anti-semitism blew my mind…. 1. Obviously the club is against that and any other form of racism or discrimination. If you’re not in the modern world then have a look at yourself. 2. What does that have to do with the club financial or on field performance?
  9. I was happy to hear there is already $10m pledged towards the home base and hopefully more to come…
  10. Thanks for clarifying and good to know. It's funny, Pendlebury is not quick at all but seems to have heaps of time, same as the Bont. Hopefully he will be similar to those two, in any case I'm sure he will get up to speed.
  11. When you say stuffs around with it, do you mean he spends too much time with ball in hand, or he isn’t a one touch player?
  12. Think they were referring to winning the Bluey Truscott
  13. Trac had a range of issues in his early career, think it was actually a broken toe from playing basketball that caused him to miss a chunk of the preseason. He also had a fairly underwhelming start to his career and would drift in and out of games. He has been on record as saying he wasn't acting like a professional at times, however from 2020 onwards he has been an absolute professional. It was one of the reasons I was disappointed with him last year, he seems to have forgotten the amount of time and work the MFC have put into developing him into the player he is today. Yes, a lot of it is due to his work ethic now but the club definitely helped him to work through issues early in his career.
  14. He was one of the only reasons to turn up during those dark years…
  15. Agreed. Boyd looks like his only position will be first ruck and he is very undersized for that at 198cm. We've got Campbell as our back up ruck, who I think is the better option for the short term. Johnson was brought in to play as a forward who pinch hits in the ruck.
  16. Trying to be humorous but seems like humour doesn't come naturally for him.
  17. Got to love another journalist giving us their opinion….. if there’s one group of people who’s opinion is important it’s ‘journalists’ 🙄
  18. I’m thinking of chucking $50 on it and let that ride for the year for a bit of fun
  19. This little bit was nice to read as well The Demons' first draft pick of 2024, Harvey Langford, also impressed in match simulation drills, including two perfectly-read roves off of Max Gawn’s rucking, before bursting from the stoppage without a finger laid on him and kicking a penetrating punt inside 50.
  20. Charlie’s mum would be so disappointed
  21. He will have to learn to be capable in the ruck, because he isn’t taking JVR or Turners spot. But agree
  22. 100% agree. I personally think this is better than the MCG precinct as it will enable a stronger community feel in the Glen Eira area. It is also close to a lot of suburbs you would imagine would be desirable for an AFL player to live given their increasing salaries.
