  1. Not sure about that.

Was it the 2012 or 2013 pre season when Ess supporters were gloating about how huge their players had gotten in a big hurry?

I don't recall that situation for any other club ever.

I don't doubt that (most) clubs have dabbled with "borderline" supplements. Example: we were daft enough to get into bed with Dank, albeit unofficially and without approval, even after it was widely known that Dank was discredited.

But nothing any club has done was on the scale of Ess/Hird/Dank/Charters and co.

I still distinctly remember them when they first come out and thought they were huge. Even remember BT (ugh) praising "The weapon" for his work on the team.

  3. I'd make a few little changes to yours Tall Defence.

    FB: Garland, Dunn, Jetta

    HB: Grimes, McDonald, Lumumba

    C: Cross, Vince, Tyson

    HF: Vandenberg, Hogan, Watts

    FF: Newton, Dawes/Pedersen, Garlett

    FOLL: Spencer, Cross, N. Jones

    INT: Brayshaw, Salem, Howe

    SUB: Toumpas/Stretch

    EMERG: Gawn, Stretch/Toumpas, Pedersen/Dawes

    IN: Grimes, Jetta, Viney

    OUT: Pedersen/Dawes, Stretch/Toumpas, JKH

Grimes to come in for their dangerous forwards and can also create along the back line. Jetta also for another dangerous forward. Viney picks himself.

Newton to the forward line. Obviously can have stints in the middle when needed but provides that unpredictable dangerous forward around goals.

Sub to either Toump or Billy. Both will have alot of energy waiting to burst by the end of the 3rd quarter. I'd be happy for either to have that spot.

Can't decide on Pedersen or Dawes for the forward line. Pedersen took some nice grabs on the weekend. I know that Roos would lean toward Dawes though.

The outs are unlucky but that is the way it crumbles sometimes.

  4. From the way they're talking Jetta is likely to miss another.

I'd also like to say that because a player has a down game isn't warrant enough to have them sit out the next round. Players are always going to have down games, Jones, Tyson, Lumumba all will at some point, would you drop them?

Its all about having a balance within our team while matching/predicting the opposing team. Not just based on their game of the previous week.

  5. I have a Tom McDonald away one from last season signed by the whole team and also have Dom Tysons Indigenous round guernsey (Still trying to get him to sign this one. Its hard being in WA).

Neither came with any authenticity, they can range from $220-500 or whatever the highest bid goes for.

They are washed before you receive them and it is not mounted at all, although that all may change with this new lot, but thats how I received mine.

Oh and the sizes are very tight. Tysons medium is almost a small, McDonalds is a Large and almost a medium.

  6. Hard to tell who to bring in for Tyson if he doesn't come up.. Freo are a very hard and a very good spreading team. Pig dog has the hardness, but he doesn't have the spread/endurance from what little i have seen of him. I think we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel at the moment, the true AFL depth isn't there - what is has bits and peices of an AFL player, but none have the true complete package.

Whats Michie's endurance like (hope he goes well again, do a world of good for his confidence)?

I still like the idea of stretch as the sub, from the sounds of it he has the endurance and spread as well as more polish than most in the VFL (looks angrily at recruiters from past).

    Go dees :)

I'd be quite happy with Lumumba taking Tysons place and having Grimes come in and take Lumubas place in the back line if that was the case. Then I'd probably run with Terlich in Jettas spot and Toumpas coming in as the sub for Kent which allows Brayshaw/Michie a full game.

  7. Hopefully we throw the kitchen sink at Treloar. I hope he has a quiet year. I expect both he and Shiel will have elite years.

I think Treloar is the safer pick though, his game is more rounded, he is somewhat dual sided, hard at it, great inside and out - and can find the pill.

As good as Shiel is, he is drifts in and out. From a MFC point of view, we've seen too many of those players. Don't get me wrong, I still want Shiel, but I think Treloar should be our priority - as I believe he is a safer pick, and the money we'd need to throw at him, we need to limit our risk of failure. We don't have the best track record of splurging dollars and maximising output in terms of investment.

    This.

  8. Overreacting a little much over one mark. People drop sitters all of the time. If he had taken the mark we all wouldn't even be talking about this. Calling for his head to be dropped to the VFL is just stupid.

Michie doesn't seem as up to speed as the rest of the guys. If any mids were to come in it would be one of Grimes/Jones/Bail as they are next in line.

One change only: Pederson for Frost.

  9. Leuenberger on his good days is an excellent ruck but there is alot of those lesser days and is always injured. A no from me.

I actually think Jamar can go at least another season if not 2 if the body holds up. Seems to be enjoying his footy too.
