On a side note, I've followed the NFL for the last few years & the same referees umpire together all year. That way you know what each one pays & doesn't pay & you don't have that inconsistency as much. Really don't understand why the AFL doesn't go down the same path

I just find it staggering that in 2 hours of football you could only have 5 free kicks... The 2 glaring ones for mine was the Cripps holding the ball decision on Jones in the 2nd term that resulted in a goal, yes Jones dove on the ball but Cripps had him in a headlock, the onus is still on the tackler to lay a legal tackle... The other was the Vince chopping of the arms on the Carlton forward, cant remember who but it was a perfect spoil, didnt even touch his arms, if that's a free kick then defenders must give it away & let the forwards take mark after mark because there's nothing more he could have done. Also how many times did Kade Simpson pick the ball up, take a tackler on, turn in the tackle & go to ground & the umpire balls it up. The umpires weren't the reason we lost but those soft goals & blatant non decisions don't help.

The award is a farce if Hunt doesn't squeeze in a nomination in the final 2 rounds. His year has been 100 times that of Phillips yet he'll most likely get the nomination this week on the back of 1 decent game.

Please... Where do I start ? Frost has been good since settling down back, yes his disposal & decision making can be questionable but his played 40 games, give him time to work on his deficiencies. Kent does have his up & down weeks & even in games goes missing but up until today his 2nd half of the year has been consistent. Stretch will be involved in our next tilt at a flag. Vince, I agree his 2nd half of the year has been shocking... Bugg has been a good pick up, hes form the last couple of weeks before today was good. His only 23.

120 to 40 will do me... We'll all be in agreeance then
-
Not those exact numbers but if we win by 6 goals in a shoot out compared to 6 goals in a lower scoring game, it makes a difference... People saying its a 50 point differential doesn't matter, best way for us to gain % is to keep Carlton as low as possible, which is obvious but like I said above the same winning margins can have a different impact on % depending on the scoreline
-
We just need to keep Carltons score low for the best % increase... Winning 80 to 50 will be better then winning 120 to 80. There is only 2.8% separating us & north I'd say between the 3 games it'll take care of itself!

The article says the following: To mark the 20th intake of the AFL's national academy, the League has named the NAB AFL Academy's '20 in 2020' team, comprising draftees from the past four Academy intakes. Not sure what that last sentence means, whether those players you've mentioned didn't go through the academy?

All I'm focusing on is that should the Roos result go our way this week, we are playing a game in round 22 to potentially play for a spot in the finals in the final round. Whether that last round actual eventuates to anything or not we should just enjoy the ride for the next week, not look too far ahead & have enjoyed the previous 2 weeks. After all we deserve it after the last 10 years.

Yeah was awesome been there. I reckon we were the only Melbourne supporters in the southern stand... Every goal I was out of my seat. Port supporter infront of me disappeared after QRT time... not sure why
-
I put my hand up & say I couldn't for the life of me understand how he was getting consistent games... But he has won me over in the last month. Hope he carries on & follows in Tom's footsteps

I will assess IF we beat Carlton... I am nervous.

What's the story with the ticketing for the Geelong game ? If only single tickets are on sale does that mean only single seats are left ? Hard to justify spending the $100+ on the resale multiple tickets... & does that mean standing room is gone too ?
-
I did the same... Looks like there's no tickets left!

People in adelaide... Where are we celebrating????

Already half cut in adelaide.. Better sober up before the first bounce.. Hoping we get up but not so confident

It'll be interesting to see how we back up from last week... It usually goes one of two ways, teams get ahead of themselves & are still in awe of their previous performance that they go away from the team things & have a let down week. OR the win galvanises the playing group & the momentum built from the previous week rolls into the next. From my experience in team sports it is usually the later... When you have wins like that you just want to be around the playong group, just want to get out there and do it all again & experience those winning feelings again. On the road this week provides that extra bond & closeness of the group. Think we will know a lot more about this group come 10:30 saturday night.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
JV7 replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually did notice Hogan lurking in the background while the song was been sung & I did think he seemed not all that fazed but really what do we want him to do ?carry on doing cartwheels in the background. I'm sure when the players mingled after the song he was front & centre congratulating the boys... -
Flicked over to ESPN to have a look at the Hall of Fame game and see the games been cancelled due to field condition... Wouldn't see that too often!!

Sorry I had to gloat & say I called it... my prediction yesterday morning I said it in the preview thread.... Call me mad but I think we are a real chance today. I've said on this forum numerous times, I said at the start of the year we'd beat the Hawks once... The effort & performance last time means we wont be fearful of them today. I can sense that this young group just have this feeling of "todays the day we arrive". We were down last week so we should be up & about if our inconsistent form rings true. I can just see us clicking today, I dont know why... Dees by 11 CBDees likes this
