  1. If he just stays in the forward line, a good defender can block his run at the footy.

Further upfield he can get more space and use his aerial dominance to greater effect sometimes.

It's about adding more strings to your bow and improving as a player, not limiting yourself.

Howe can take a speccy, but will never be a high volume goalkicker.

Brett Burton should be what he aims to become.

  2. Yes Very Lorne ish now.

In ealry eighties is was still not much more than a fishing village with holiday makers over Christmas / Jan period.

We loved it, with the exception of the two pubs and a couple of food places everything shut at 12.00 noon Saturday.

The first time we saw you could buy a cappuccino my wife said Apollo Bay is stuffed, just another Lorne now.

We have some friends with a house at Skenes Creek we still go down one weekend a year.

Nothing stays the same, my wife says just remember it the way it was.

    May have known my family.

They owned the farmland that is now the pisces caravan park.

    Wish they still had it.

Recent rumours are that it is Eade.

I wouldn't be disappointed with any of the "big 3."

The important thing to me is making sure we have good support around him, especially assistants that are capable of succession.

  3. I re ran the incident about 10 times and I am pretty convinced it was deliberate. He looks and sees Strauss and then kicks upwards and connects with his face.

I wasn' t shocked as I regard Brown as a filthy player. He would be in good company with Fletcher who should also go this week for a late hit.

Do you know what stage of the game it was, so I can watch it?

    Cheers

  4. On this morning's footy show on 9 they were saying that the list of candidates is growing beyond the experienced names, and that Adam Simpson is "firming" (as the possible coach, that is)

I reckon there's a fair chance we might be sounding Adam Simpson out as an assistant for a succession plan, if Hayes and Ling aren't interested, but there's zilch chance we'd be looking at him for head coach.

    Just won't happen.

  5. Gold Coast football club has obviously built an organization that players want to play for.

MFC resembles a rabble atm and it's understandable if players don't want to play for MFC.

I love our club, but I also try and see things from a players perspective in terms of what is best for their future.

Players no doubt have love for the club, but there comes a time when staying at the club might not be best for their future.

We owe it to Jesse Hogan to create an environement that players want to play for and see a future in playing here.

PJ has said that as much.

    Thank god for Peter Jackson.

    Thanks captain obvious.

This is patently clear to any Melbourne supporter.

It's not news that players should be hesitant to sign with our club.

We all know the reasons why.

Why do some feel the need to beat us all over the head with it, with monotony?

  6. As was i.

Not a "partyer" just a damn good, loyal bloke with lots of hobbies.

Ever heard of lead by example? Not all Captains need to be charismatic.

There's a hell of a lot more to leadership and being captain than just "leading by example."

If that's the only string you have to your bow, then you're fit for a spot in the leadership group, and maybe a vice captaincy gig.

  7. Terrific if that's the case. But if its not we should move on.

What exactly does "move on" mean?

Do you think PJ is sitting in a room building a shrine to Roos?

Ignoring all other possibilities, waiting til Sept 20 for one last ditch attempt, with a fallback plan of calling both Eade & Williams only if and when Roos says "definitely NO"?

There's a bloody process in place.

A coach selection board has been formed.

    Stop and think.

  8. No it wasn't "dumb luck" as you call it.. His Father was up in Sydney the previous March, before the season proper started, actually negotiating certain terms and conditions with GWS.. That was published just after he left MFC...

    Exactly.

If that had've been published prior to Scully leaving, it might have been a valid cause to believe he was going, but even then, not in all certainty.

He could've been there to have a pitch made to him, but still far from decided.

This is my point - no one knew with any certainty, so those patting themselves on the back are doing so based on a largely uneducated punt.
