  1. From 2008 - 2012, the Top 20 picks in order are:

    • GWS = 16
    • Melbourne = 9
    • Gold Coast = 8
    • Freo = 7
    • Port = 7
    • Richmond = 6
    • Essendon = 5
    • North = 5
    • Bulldogs= 5
    • Brisbane = 5
    • West Coast = 5
    • Carlton = 4
    • Collingwood = 4
    • Geelong = 4
    • Adelaide = 3
    • Sydney = 3
    • Hawthorn = 2
    • St Kilda = 1

    This is very interesting:

From 2010 to 2012, we had 1 top 10 pick... compared to GWS with 11, Gold Coast with 5, Brisbane with 3, Richmond, Port, Bulldogs, Essendon with 2, West Coast with 1 and the rest with 0.

From 2010 to 2012, we had a 2 top 20 picks... compared to GWS with 16, Gold Coast with 8, Brisbane and Freo with 4, Richmond, Essendon, Port, North, Collingwood and Bulldogs with 3, Carlton and Geelong with 2, West Coast, Adelaide and Hawthorn with 1 and Sydney and St Kilda with 0.

Meaning 7 other teams had more top 10 picks than we did and 10 had more top 20 picks than us over the past 3 drafts...

Thanks for the review PJ. Not to knit pick - didn't we have picks 3 & 4 last year - Hogan and Toumpas.

  2. Most of yo stuff is good. We need a "mongrel"president who is going to get things done and if that person stands on toes so be it.If the supporter or the elitist don't like it they should bug off. I am sick of "cream puffs" running the club.

Actually what is Neil Craig's function at the club?To me he is a waste of "space". Money for nothing like the our polies.

Once again I say to the supporter don't be frighten if a Jeff Kennett style of president gets the No.1 job.

Also mentioned before certain players are untouchable (can't be dropped Sylvia,Jamar and ....), MFC be very careful the likes of Gawn may p.ss off to the likes of St.KIlda f.c.

What don't you like the weekly Craig report, it's very informative....

  3. Great thread.

I went to the hawks match last week, with a mate (hawks supporter) who I hadn't gone to the footy with for 5 or so years.

He actually asked me what has happened to me as in his words "you've turned into a ferral dees supporter" - I was giving 9 mill dollar man Buddy crap all day and cheering for every one of our 5 goals that we kicked. Years ago I was nowhere near as passionate, and as you point out by this thread what an interesting side effect from these tribulations.

  4. He went too hard, gagged his ministers and his time was up. He lost sense of community. He needed to pull back a bit, but didn't. He was the right bloke for what the state needed at the time.

I thought this was common knowledge.

Jeepers Ben Hur, I was to distracted looking at your new profile picture than to read what you posted....

  5. I'm stumped, I rate Magner and would not be surprised if he left at the end of the season.

The FD want to focus on tackling and contested possessions, so they leave out one of our toughest and hard at it players....there off there heads I swear!

  6. So what, you think before each game, Neeld and the assistants sit in the change rooms and say to the players, ok today we want you to go out and lose again, try reading his body language at the end of the second qty against Freo

A point, I don't know whether he will be sacked or not, but when he says "it is what it is"...he is correct, we have an inexperienced team so we should expect ups and downs, but we all agree the downs are way too far down, hopefully in the next two games, that can be fixed

Of course not, but answer me this - when was the last time you've heard Neeld talk about winning.

Yes, we have an inexperianced playing group. Yes, he shouldn't have to teach effort. But, these two issues are caused by Neeld and his approach from the day he walked in the door and got everyone off side. And for that I believe, it is what you have created MN.

  7. He has had that chance, and regardless, isolated results mean little, and it is clear his papers are stamped. The Board are simply ensuring they know exactly what their next will be first.

IMO Neeldy constantly saying "it is what it is" is admiting defeat, the sad thing is the fact he constantly says it. I believe he's heart and mind have not been in it since the round 2 loss.

How can our playing group who he is supposed to be leading and motivating get inspired by a man who admits defeat so easily and NEVER talks about winning.

  8. I think there are too many unanswered questions to give a detailed answer. I'm like the other 99% disheartened Supporters on this site and am not happy with what Neeld has produced to date. If anything I'm more confused on what his direction and 5 year plan is.

Having said that and trying to read between the lines, my guess is Neelds goals for this years are as follows:

1: give as much game time and experience to the younger players but trying to not burn them out in the process.

2: I think he's happy with his forward line structure Dawes, Clarke, Hogan, Howe (although I think we should have some quick/explosive smalls, which I think we're lacking).

3: I think he's also reasonibly happy with defense (with more game time)

4: he would have to be stupid not to know how much we're getting killed on the middle.

With those in mind, I reckon he's playing out this year hoping for a better win/loss ratio than last year. But banking on bringing in some experience in the guts come trade time at the end of the year.

I may be completely wrong with the above.

  9. Sorry I'm getting bitter...

I couldn't stand another year of the media scum critising "scattergun" trades. I think we already have enough had beens, or never will be's on our list....

We should focus our energies on getting mid 20's players who can play now and for the next 5-6 yrs to create stability and confidence in the list.

  10. I think that if David Swartz wants to help the club out - They should get him giving Watts, Frawley and Sylvia motivational speeches about how good this club is and to help the younger ones build this club back up to where it belongs.

I would think that they'd respond to that more than Neeld's dry manerisms.

  11. I would never normally do this, but I can't stand to see this train wreck in slow motion.

The only way for the club to listen to its supporters is for a "Please remove Neeld and appoint a Senior coach with Finals credabilities" petition to be put forward. Going from what I see on this site I think there is enough support to get one kicked off.

I would love to know feedback on if people think it is feasible or just a waste of time?

  12. Calm down people.

Show me any evidence that Watts doesn't want to stay on with us? Show me evidence Frawley doesn't want to stay with us? Gawn?

Managers understand the [censored] situation we are in.. and they also understand we will play overs to keep these players if they stake it out to round 22.

Until Jack, James or Max makes a statement.. I would relax.

Scully was offered the biggest contract in the AFL.. James, Jack and Max won't get half that.

Possibly, but from what I understand the issues on why these guys haven't signed is related:

    1: we suck and they want to taste success elsewhere;

    2: our coach sucks and they can't stand him;

It's been bled to death on other threads, but surely there comes a time where enough is enough and if it helps resign some of our most experienced players back up and give everyone hope again, then off with his head executioner!
