  1. Comparisons, conjecture, prognostications are all part of being a footy fan. It's done with the understanding that there are no guarantees, but some of us like to make educated guesses. Especially when we've been fortunate enough to see both players at the same stage of their careers. It's not like we're bench-marking against nothing.

By all means don't participate in such comparisons yourself, but don't condemn others who are happy to do so.

Neitz was a top junior and an AA (on the bench) by the time he was 20, but I have no doubt that Hogan should be the superior player. I was well into my 20's when Neitz debuted, so I feel somewhat qualified to have an opinion.

As stated previously anytime you get an opportunity to bag Neitz you have done so

What makes you qualified to judge or have an opinion when you are clearly an arrogant idiot

  2. To every so called Dee Supporter who has bagged David Neitz in any way you should be totally disgusted with yourself.

Ben Hur & Curry & Beer top of the list of [censored]

Neitz provided a contest every time he got near the ball and was a gun.

From the moment the big fellow was forced to retire we turned into a crap team

Hopefully young Hogan has a career as good but to put pressure on a kid who has kicked 30 odd goals in the VFL is utter stupidity

  3. Ben you are a full on [censored]

If hogan is as good as Neitz you would be disappointed.

If Hogan kicks as many goals as Neitz, captains the club for as many years and plays a club game record you would be a little disappointed.

Every chance you get to sink the boots into Neitz you do.

    You are a [censored]

  4. If Hogan turns out anywhere near as good as Neitz it will be a great story.

Would like to see him sign a new extended contract super worried he may return to WA.

Roos spent time in WA talking with Hogan and his parents outling future plans which was a bit of a worry.

  5. Team for round 1

    B/ Garland, Frawley, Terlich

    H/B Grimes, Macdonald, Toumpas

    C/ Watts, Vince, Cross

    H/F Howe, Dawes, Trengrove

    F/F Blease, Clark, Hogan

    R/ Gawn, Jones, Tyson

    Int/ Viney, Evans, Tapscott

    Sub/ Clisby

Clark to have short stints in ruck

Evans to play instead of Mckenzie as a running skilful tagger

  6. Hopefully Byrnes retires otherwise he should be delisted would rather see Blease given a good run at being a small crumbing forward with occasional stints in the midfield if he can get his fitness up.

Roos indicated in a press release before taking on our team that he thought Blease needed to be played (Blease kicked 5 against StKilda a couple of years ago and has talent)

Rohan Bail unfortunately needs to give footy away for his future health.

Whilst Nicholson can run he cannot kick and is not up to AFL standard

Byrnes, Bail & Nicholson to go

  7. Soxy how about a bit of comparion to that side Northey picked up

    Brett Lovett - Grimes

    Ricky Jackson- Blease

    Danny Hughes - Frawley

    Stynes - No one

    Sean Wight - No one

    Flower - No one

Your right Soxy Northey did pick up a great nucleas of a side

  8. Moloney (note spelling) - most public humiliation was demotion from Vice Captaincy after being drunk in a public place - NOT under Neeld's watch

Brad Green's greatest public humiliation was being played as a sub - NOT under Neeld's watch

Jack Watts was sent back to Casey under Bailey and Neeld for underperforming. His greatest public humiliation was being played in the Queen's Birthday game - NOT under Neeld's watch.

Martin and Rivers - can't recall either being publicly humiliated by any coach... but of course, if you care to elaborate, as I said previously, I'm all eyes.

His recruitment efforts are yet to be proven poor... Hogan will be a plus, Toumpas will be a plus, M Jones is already a plus, Barry we don't know enough about yet, Kent has shown a bit already, Viney is going to be very good, Dawes will be a worthwhile get, Clark has been our best get for a long time, Byrnes and Roden were brought in for leadership (not necessarily purely onfield) and cost us next to nothing - who else do you suggest we could have got in their place?

    Hardtack you have selective memory

Moloney was put back in leadership group then dumped back out by Neeld

Brad Green was dumped as captain and not deemed worthy enopugh to be in leadership group yet was chosen as Australian captain in the Ireland versus Australia series

Jack Watts was dragged against Essendon

Rivers was dumped from leadership group

    Your post was super ordinary

  9. Crawf do you know what the definition of stupid is.

It is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Neeld is gone, appease the supporters by providing some hope by removing a clueless coach who has delivered the worst 7 rounds of results possible.

Change is needed for the sake of change

  10. True, but what was so completely clear was that from the get go he galvanized a team who were really struggling. Neeld has done the opposite.

The other thing to remember about Roos was that fans loved him from the start and he seemed universally popular (in no small part i reckon because he sold a positive message - not the negative be patient rubbish Neeld has peddled). So much so that IIRC the club were going to go with another coach (Eade?) but were pressured by the members and fans to stick with Roos. It seems history has judged their decision to listen to their fans to be a wise one.

    Great Post Binman

As soon as I read it, I thought wow that sort of comment inspires hope

  11. Crawf I agree with your last post especially that personal pride should make you want to do the best you can.

Unfortunately we have a player list totally devoid of confidence which is making our performances even worse.

A coach is responsible for making young men believe in themselves and the game plan formed.

We have an inexperienced coach running our club who is clueless about how to turn this mess around.

We need a new experienced coach to develope our list and get the best out of the players and we cannot wait to sink into further financial mess as Jackson has stated in 2014

  12. Our playing group is NOT capable of doing any better !!! No coach will do any better with this soft sub AFL standard group.... Sorry to have to admit that, but tell it as it is I MUST... If I am attacked for my views ,then so be it ..I expect it from some of those whom write on this site... You are all entitled to your opinions, as am I.

Soxy ever heard of a chap by the name of John Northey he picked up a playing list and got it all the way to a grand final.

Hope is what is needed at present I know you are shattered by our results as we all are but we need hope and a change of coach provides an avenue for hope

  13. Not all of us have been supporting Neeld as such. Some of us have been presenting an argument for patience and cool heads. Some of us have not belittled other posters in making these points. Interesting that you do exactly what you accuse others of doing. It's not necessarily weak to stay quiet and think things through before making a comment.

These are dark times for the club. Nothing is gained from hot-headed argument.

Let's keep it rational and support the club. If change is to be made let's make it for the right reasons, with good evidence to support the decision.

Crawf not trying to be rude, as we are all upset and extremely angry at present but our largest loss ever at the MCG in 150 years against essendon, west coasts highest ever score in a quarter in their history, Gold Coasts first win at the MCG and their highest winning margin in their history all of this within 7 rounds and you state we need good evidence to support the decision

  14. I honestly believe the players dislike Neeld they certainly do not put their bodies on the line for him if anything when they get a chance to make the situation worse they seem to do it

The comment by Jackson that we haven't honestly seen if he can coach is a worry as it means Neeld will get time to further destroy our club

  15. Along with Neeld delist the following players at years end

Davey, Rodan, Byrne, Sellar, Pederson, Jamar, Spencer, Fitzpatrick & Nicholson

Keep - Gawn, Sylvia, Blease, Evans, Tapscott, Frawley, Garland, Tom Macdonald, Viney, Toumpas, Howe, Clarke, Dawes, Hogan, Grimes, Trengrove, N Jones, M Jones, Terlich, Kent, Mc Kensie, Dunn, Barry, Bail & Strauss

If anybody thinks the above players which should be delisted think they will teach our younger players how to perform or play they are deluded they are washed up has beens and a couple of kids not up to afl standard

  16. Neelds obession with getting talls during the trade period always seemed strange considering our inept midfield from 2012. Moving Moloney on seemed to add to this imbalance of the list.

Simon Black rates extremely highly as a player and has played with some greats at Brisbane.

His comments on how highly rated Moloney is at Brisbane were insightful and absolutely damning to the idiot we have coaching at Melbourne

  17. Watching Moloney rip us to shreds on Sunday broke my heart and then to read an article on the Melbourne website how Neeld congratulates him on a great game made me want to spew up.

Neeld states Moloney wanted to go, no bloody wonder when he is stripped of any leadership duties andnot given a game and when he does get a game is given stupid match ups like tagging out side runners like Wells.

Neeld is an egotistical twit who needs to go bloody quickly or our club will be in a dire financial mess at years end

  18. What a strange season we lose by our greatest ever margin at the MCG against Essendon a couple of weeks ago and then kick our highest ever score in a quarter 2 weeks later.

Dr Bates surely was pumping the boys full of some crap

  19. I think it might take years of loyalty by one coach, one administration ,one core group of players , going by the Geelong model.

    Are sackings the solution?

    Yes Biff

Unfortunately in this case sackings are the solution.

If nothing changes where does hope come into the equation, without hope supporters drop off, kids tell their parents no way am I supporting Melbourne they are useless, Free to air TV is non existent and finally sponsors are not interested

A Football Club becomes irrevelant ponder that Biff and then ask if sackings are the solution

  20. Ben I wish I could leave The Melbourne Football Club as they have provided great emotional rides - a lot of ups and downs you might say.

Unfortunately it is too late for me I am attracted and dismayed at the love I have for our team currently of girls
