No he didn't.
There was definitely one year he should've made the 40.

yes, but remember he is still just 19. he has plenty of time to perfect his tackling skills. he already doesn't lack in aggression when he needs to, so i wouldn't at all be worried about his current level of tackling ability. his development to date has been impressive and shows no signs of tailing off. he's a gem.
That was a good effort from stretcher - did his best - but Gibbo's 20 extra kgs and 13 extra pre-seasons held him in good stead.

The goal he kicked against Geelong last year was pretty good.
Yeah, I was right behind that one. You can just see my and my mates going nuts at the back of the Gary Ablett terrace as it sails through.

Quick and skillful outsider who's happy to go when it's his turn. He's had a terrific year and only turns 20 this week I believe.
I reckon that goal he kicked on the weekend will end up being a pretty famous Melbourne goal.

This is my take in case anyone cares:
- Cyril's was fine. Didn't make contact with the head. Shouldn't have been fined.
- Sicily is lucky to get one week. That was straight out of the 80s.
- Serious question - is spear tackling illegal in the AFL? I actually don't know. Cyril spear tackled Hooch.
- Mitchell should've got one. Impact was low but you can't just belt players in the face.

I'd rather dream of doing a Hawthorn next year and pinching one.
I'm dreaming of both!

Melbourne, North and St Kilda.
Well, I think St Kilda will lose to Sydney and if we beat Port we go ahead of them.
As I said, it's unlikely that this is all going to happen but I don't think it's completely beyond the realms of possibility either. After 10 years of garbage I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to be excited about this until it's completely off the table.
Come on AF. Dream a little would ya? You deserve it!

To be honest, I think just missing out on finals will be better motivation for us going into next season, than coming 8th and getting smashed in week one of the finals, which is the most likely result.
I want to make finals and win, not make up numbers.
I know finals experience is very important, but it can be really damaging getting there only to get smacked. Just ask Richmond.
I'm sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly with this! After 10 dismal, heartbreaking years you don't want to make the finals because we might get done!?!?!?
We have absolutely nothing to fear from whichever team comes fifth. They will be fearing us!
I wonder how you'd go about telling Nathan Jones or Jack Viney that they should just aim for ninth this year!

Which three teams?

Lol, we've got some of the best young players in the game and you want to argue over who is our 39th and 40th best player.

The official score has us losing by 5 points, which means his point stood, which means if he'd kicked a goal it would have been a draw.
Stretch's behind wasn't counted. We were 5 points down before his kick.
The issue in that game wasn't the end, it was that we drew level 10 mins into the last with a 7 goal wind and didn't go on with it. I reckon it was a bit of a choke - not believing we could beat a top side. I feel like we've dealt with that issue now though!

If St Kilda lose to Sydney, Hawthorn beat North and we beat Port, yes. But we're playing the youngest side in the comp. Momentum or no momentum. This isn't the 1980's. It's a completely different kettle of fish.
I didn't think they would, but unfortunately, due to St Kilda's win today, they're going to finish ahead of us with Richmond and Brisbane to come.
All of the stuff I've bolded is reasonably likely to happen.
Look, I'm not saying we're definitely playing finals. But if I had to do my footy tipping for the rest of the season now, I'd tip us against Port and Carlton and tip against North for the rest of their games. Now obviously getting the points in Geelong is going to be bloody tough. But anything can happen on the day. And even taking it to that final day would be a lot more fun than anything that's happened for a decade.

People need to have a little common sense here. We were always going to win a game or two that we didn't expect (ie. Hawthorn) and lose a game or two that we didn't expect (ie. Essendon and St Kilda x2). I've long thought we'll get 10-12 wins this year. At this stage, it looks like it'll be 10-11. I think we're more likely to lose narrowly to Port, lose to Carlton and beat Geelong in Geelong. There's no way we'll play finals though.
The played and coaching staff need common sense. The fans are allowed to dream as much as they want!
In all seriousness, momentum's a funny thing, particularly with a young group. If we beat Port and Hawthorn beat North, you watch the media jump all over it. Even if we could take it to the last game it would be bloody exciting.

Imagine if they scheduled it at Simmonds Stadium, it would be the ultimate insult. :/ Lucky the stand is being re-built, so no finals there.
I would actually love to go down there for a final. I went last year when we won and it was such an amazing day.
-
We actually beat North and managed to finish bottom in 97. Best Adelaide in 98, North in 2000.
-
Not be surprised and check our percentage compared to North.

Why would it be at Etihad?

Two players jump for the ball, the ball goes over their head, small contact is made after the ball is past with both players in the air, so a player falls slightly awkwardly and we call this tunnelling. What a crock...
He didn't his legs from under him. AVB made the most of it. Good on him. But I'd be livid if it got paid going the other way.

In all fairness, we should mention the AVB goal from a free, a gift from the umpires, who are an out and out joke.
Agreed. That was basically perfect defending from Gibson.

The person from the first half that should be rubbed out is Sicily, that was an old fashioned round arm on Bernie, a dog of an act that should get 3 weeks and the umpire who missed it should be dropped too
Agreed - that was straight out of the 80s. Rioli's bump was perfectly fair. The Sicily incident is the one we should be talking about.

I've never heard this story before. What a shame. One of the great things about demonland is the opportunity to learn more about the club's history.
