  1. Not sure that is true.

Lets assume Clark has come to the conclusion my body and mind cannot do this anymore I want to stop.

Then his agent who will be wanting to achieve two things IMO

    - Get the best financial deal he can for Clark

    - ensure he maximizes his commission because there is probably no more from Clark.

So try a subtle paint of the MFC as " we want to discuss an exit structure for Mitch"

Puts the ball back in the MFC court to come up with an offer.

Surely he has entitlements according to the EBA and he won't get any more than that. Is there any room for negotiation. I wouldn't want MFC to hand out any more money.

  2. You are kidding, surely... Sewell is a veteran finals campaigner in one of, if not THE best midfields in the AFL, is very well spoken in terms of getting a message across, has a very good football brain and would provide the kind of leadership and guidance that our team is crying out for. Yes, he is 29 which probably gives him 3 good years in the game, but what he can offer would go far beyond that... he would be helping to develop a midfield that will carry us for the next decade.

Sorry, but I can never understand the short term thinking that believes we should not be bringing in experienced mids who are in the twilight of their careers but who can offer the kind of mentoring that we would otherwise dream of (it would be almost like having another coach on the field). After all, it's not as if we are going to be playing finals in the next couple of years if we opt purely for youth and inexperience. I don't know, maybe it's a Gen-Y thing?

He was a good player in great team, never thought of him as a great player. The end comes around quickly these days, He will be Thirty (30) BEFORE the year starts and would require a trade and a reasonable pay packet. He is slowing down, He has one (1) - two (2) years left MAX - help for the next ten years - nonsense.

He is not quite good enough to even take the main tag from Nathan JONES. I'm still not convinced. And you didn't win me over with your witty insults. Still think CROSS as a free agent with no huge salary - fair enough. Costly trade / high salary - SEWELL too much risk. Premiership medals and TV contracts won't get the job done in our team

  3. Players from successful clubs to build culture didn't work last year. Is Sewell a leader or does he line up behind Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, Roughhead and the rest of them. I think like Byrnes he could have been on the coat tails of a great midfield. Is there any evidence he can teach a kid how to play? And that's the coaches job anyway, and we have a great coach. Has he any experience working with a young midfield.

I'm Probably harsh, he would probably be our second best mid next year. But I'm not convinced he would be a valuable teacher in terms of culture, coaching and training.

  4. Viney, Toumpas, Barry ,Watt & draftees need to develop in the team and in the middle. Filling the team with Cross, Sewell, Byrnes is a waste, is it gonna win games? I'd rather Sewell over Cross but both were dropped to the VFL this year for form, both have lost a yard and I believe one of them is more interested in establishing a media Career than helping the Dees win back respect. They are better than Rodan, but same mistake I think.

  5. Article and radio explanation still seems like nonsense to me. I read it as saying that Peter Jackson is there and will make the right decisions for the club and should be given time. Yet he also says he hopes that bad things happen that force the club into taking action. Can't have it both ways. Either Jackson and the club make decisions, or the club is forced to take action. If he respects Jackson so much, as he claims, let him have his head, let him make decisions, don't try and force those around him into huge decisions such as sacking the coach. It's BS, fair enough that he says the board hasn't performed and that they need be replaced, and that's something for the members. But he isn't. He says that the board has got someone in to make footy decisions, and then sayin, but lets hope we get belted and no one gets to make big decisions.

  6. Good on him for pointing out what every other journo has already pointed out. He's in the media. He met with the president over a month ago about what he could do. Haven' t seen any photos or articles about him helping at all. Is it not publicised by the club, or is he not doing anything to help.

Either roll up your sleeves and be one of us, or keep writing "articles" about the people who are trying. One visit in a month, you'll need to do a heap more to get my vote. We can still get worse!

  7. Fitzpatrick struggled but had 11 touches 4 marks in a Fwd line that the ball rarely entered, id give him another go. Jamar - 1 kick 3 handballs 2 marks on the ball most of the day. Sylvia and Byrnes pick themselves, we need someone for Cloke, maybe Sellar or Tom Mac Donald. Blease seems to have made the coaches happy over the past few weeks I think he'll play and whose not keen to see Taggert and Toumpas play? I think we'll see a heap of changes, again!

  8. Maybe if he is sacked we can all start thinking of September action!

    Give me spell.

He's in charge and he'll answer to that at seasons end, but I think you'll find that others around the place are also culpable and shouldn't be let off so easy. They're in it together and just maybe at some stage they'll learn to fight back, and if they do, perhaps the thrashing a will be a thing of the past. A new coach now will probably just ruin someone's career.

Rather than looking for a scapegoat perhaps we can talk about who we have got around to support players like Viney, ,Toumpas and Hogan, we need some fight on the field.

  9. Probably 2. He's had a month of 20+ touches, kicked a some goals, been aggressive. He's been playing his part, he' has ability as everyone points out, but some seem to think he can take on teams all by himself. I think for the first time in his career he is being unfairly criticised.

    Team game.

  10. What I find stunning is among the low numbers that have been assessed is the lack of midfield players. Jumper numbers 1 - 25, usually worn by the teams best players only Jones and McKenzie are midfielders with any experience. A couple of young mids there, Viney and Toumpas and a whole bunch of utilities / flanker types. Even the mids we have, skills are questionableSo many players who rely on service from midfielders yet no midfielders. Baffling. Where are our players who can run for four quarters and get the ball?

It's not the players we do have, it's the players we don't have / haven't recruited that is the problem.

  11. 3 years at the club without any consistent, meaningful runs of form. Not a big strong guy, not particularly fit, or fast, not the best kick at the club. Pick 11 is just a number now. Hopefully time at the Dees have changed and the players have t perform to earn another contract.

Surely the other non performers ie. Petterd, Bate, Dunn, Bennell etc, etc have a nervous wait til the list is finalised. Hopefully the new and recent draftees are held to higher standards.

    I don't really get Rodan?

    Go Dees

  12. Just a rookie. Would imagine Nicholson, Evans, Magner and Couch would be in front of him in terms of promotion. Imagine only one of them would be promoted,Nicholson for me, probably other three retained on the rookie list. Would have thought Leigh Williams would have gone before him though, being three years older.
