See I would usually agree with you. But to hear Trengove and Neeld say that we didn't have enough effort defeats everything you are saying. Yes, new game plan. yes, Stynes could work as a distraction rather than a spur. But effort we CAN control. How dare we show up for the first game under a new coach, of a new season, after Stynes' death, and leave the park 7 goals down and saying we didn't try as hard as we should.

So no, we are not being hysterical. We are in fact a disgrace.

Todays was a pathetic performance but the reaction of some on here is almost as embarrassing. It was the first proper game with a completely different gameplan. Players who have not worked hard without the ball for 5 years are suddenly expected that it will come naturally to them. The figurehead of our great club dies one week before the first game and no one thinks that it would be a distraction. These are kids who live by routine and that is dropped on them.

I hope the coaching staff have more faith in their plans than some of the knee jerk reactions on here.

Well say what you like but we as members have every right to say the MFC are a joke after what i saw today. Stop thinking its o.k to lose to a team like brisbane who we smashed in 2010 we should be well in front of teams like this bottom line and now they are better then us again. Davey has lost his pace and hunger to win. Green is to slow and should have given it away last year. Rivers did nothing today. Moloney looks like a baby who has spat the dummy and will not last long if he keeps on playing like this. Jamer played the worst game ever. Jones was really bad. Macdonald was sent to melbourne from brisbane. Our older players are weak and have set this club back 10 years. Time to clean out the club of all the older players who have no leadership and are as weak as water.

I just feel like crap i have always gone in for the dees but i now am starting to feel like this club stands for nothing.

The media have said we stand for nothing for years as a club. Then big jim brings back some life to the club he loves and the team come and play like this today. Im really worried were we will go over the next few years.

Im going to give neeld the year to show what he has because if we dont win more then lastyear we have failed and all the great work jimmy has done for this club could very quickly be gone. So lets hope our board and co have got the right man not just the man who says the right things. Today was the worst loss i have seen at the M.C.G after so much hope and building to be beat by a team who should be well below us is a shocking result. I just saw the neeld interview and it was very raw he was very angry and even looked like he had a tear in his eyes. He made it clear that this club has a long way to go and that there will be alot of change at this club with the players while he is in the drivers seat. i think he said other then watts and magner everyone was crap. He will have a big broom at the end of the year i have no dobt.

Only round one but i hope mark neeld knows what he is doing because i played like this in under 10s kick and hope. We are ment to be fit from dave mission from all the pre season hype well brisbane out ran us all day. This could really hurt the club in a big way lets pray im wrong but we look weak and as bad as the Gold coast with less upside.

This so called game plan of kick and hope is shocking and we look like we have taken 2 steps back from bailey. The players should hang there head in shame coming out after this week and playing like a bunch of pea hearts and being belted by a team like brisbane. I hate to say it but our tanking was the worst thing this club ever did we have no leadership and no culture with a bunch of kids trying to play like men. And our older players are the worst in the AFL. Im sick of this crap melbourne stop with the bull s*&^ and clean out this club Green,Rivers,Davey, they and our old football department have set this club back another 10 years. NOT HAPPY we have just been over taken by another crap team first richmond then port and now brisbane. How we let this happen again? Today i was driving a truck around melbourne and had sen on the radio and i could not stop crying everytime something about jim was said. This GREAT man is just someone that words cant express. He is and always will be the heartbeat of our club. In spirit he will be looking down over the M.C.G to see this great club that he saved holding our next cup and that flag will be for you BIG JIM. As a man if i can be just a bit like you i will be Happy your my hero and i love you. To sam and the kids we as melbourne will always be your family and i pray for you through this hard time. No I dont blame ALL of the fans.

I point out some of "loyal fans" that cant even be bothered to turn up to watch the games.

• The same "loyal fans" where we were actually losing money due to our attendance. Did those "loyal fans" sort that one? Oh the truth hurts.
  
• Sure the same "loyal fans" that took years to react and only moved when we where on deaths door.
  
• The same "loyal fans" that spent more time infighting "claiming he did this he said that" - failed to move forward.
  
• The same "loyal fans" that let the very situation happen in the first place - maybe the root of the problem does sit at the feet of the failed merger - I'm not sure on that.
  
• The same "loyal fans" the want success and want others to do the work.
  
• The same "loyal fans" that are ignorant to the very workings of our own football club.
  

But I'm sure you will blame the players, blame the coach, blame blah blah blah - negative garbage.

Our last few years have been sensational and finally we have some "fans" that understand the path to modern day success. Finally we have a CEO that understands our short-comings and solves our attendance $$$$ losing problem by quality upfront negotiations with the MCG.

Many are here among this forum, thats great. Finally we have a board with a quality passion for increasing our investment inside our football department without going into debt. Finally we have a board that understand you need alternative income because you can't really on these some of these "loyal fans" they are short term fickle thinkers.

So little Jim best of luck. Your "loyal fans" will let you down I can promise you that. (Their history tells me that.) Pat your "loyal fans" on the back little Jim the job is only half done.

DR i have put alot of money into this club and you are really starting to sound like a know it all. So if you can fix the problem do it. But i put my money were it counts so dont tell me its my fault and i can tell you i know alot about footy i played along time and been going along time. So if you ever judge someone when you dont no them think again DR. Know it all how much are you to blame. Me and my family have 70 years of funding this club and going every game.

I understand the truth will hurt for some. I understand your ignorance I deal with it ever day. You and your like will continue to blame the players, blame the coach, blame the recruiting staff - blame whoever you want. Players come and go, coaches come and go, recruiting staff come and go, football department staff come and go. Now back to where we HONESTLY are - a long way away from where we want to get. But we have made many improvements investing in our footy department. Thank the Lord for Jimmy Stynes & co for addressing the real problems.

Sorry Dr lets blame the fans for how we play what a joke. Are you taking patients pills? if you think the fans are why we dont win thats a cop out. It's because we have had bailey as a coach with no game plan and we have no leadership and a crap culture and are the third youngest team. One thing we do have is very loyal fans who got rid of 5 million debt and a great board and great young talent we all need to let neeld have his time with the list to wave his magic and put in some hard work we will get there i have no worry saying we will be great in 3 years.

Yep, agree we're a bottom 4 team. Outside of Trengove and Grimes, not much for two years on the bottom, out draft selections appear very poor. Watts a half-forward at best. Morton weak. Blease and Gysbetts poor.

I don't see the talent on the list -let alone desire- to be top 4. Midfield too weak for a start. Only Jones has my respect from NAB cup form. So Neeld will need to rebuild. I expect some serious moves at the trade table in coming years. People ranking us above Richmond need a serious rethink.

I found the weekends game to be a kick in the guts and reckoned there was a whiff of 186 in it.

Neeld's mission from day 1 was to make us the hardest team to play against in the AFL. I along with many others bought into that. However all I saw on Saturday was a bunch of witches hats dressed in red and blue.

Yes it's early days and we may eventually get there under the new coaching panel, but I'm now resigned to the fact we'll only win 4 or 5 games this year, and most of them at the G v's interstate sides.

Cheer up 4 or 5 games what a joke we won 8 under bailey who is a coach who had no game plan sorry but what a silly comment we will win more then 8 mark my words. Bailey is no were near mark neeld in my eyes and he has had 3 games as coach talk about over the top 4 games for the year wouls see us under gold coast it will not happen.

What mick said today is that melbourne are a team that had a coach in bailey that had know idea and i have got to agree that when it came to game plan we were way off the pace. He also said we are in the right hands now and there is not much wrong with us. And when it comes to watts he is just saying that its not about how many touches he gets its about being hungry for the contest like a number 1 pick this i agree with because i dont think he is saying he should be killing it after 40 games he is just saying he needs more hunger to be a number 1 pick. 24 Hours down the track I still have the same feeling.

We are an ordinary side that no amount of coaching changes or the number of them will change.

On a number of occasions on different threads over summer i stated.

"the team is basically the same cattle as last year"

I was usually told but we have a lot better coach and FD add a better game plan we will be better in 2012.

Well guess what guys we are not better.

One simple fact is screaming at us.

This bunch of players is simply not up to taking us out of the bottom half of the competition.

We may have a dozen or so of good players, but no champions, no game breaker and the rest are very average at best.

We will win a number of games in 2012, my best estimate is 8.

None of them will be against the top sides.

Normally I am fairly optimistic before the start of a new year but on 11 March 2012 I can see nothing but a sad year ahead.

IMO we have at best an average team, we will be distracted for most of 2012 by the Jurrah saga.

I do not believe in curses or bad luck but what else describes the Jurrah situation and the loss of one of our few good recuits for multipule weeks with a broken finger before the season even starts.

I feel your pain but we will get better because hawthorne have had 11 pre seasons together we have had 2 maybe 3 we just look weak against teams like that we will win more then 8 games but we will still get a good touch up against teams like the hawks because they are the bigger and stronger. As much as i want to play finals and win more games this year i think the one thing that has got to happen this year is

to make sure we dont have heavy loses that's how we will gain some respect back because thats our big problem right now the margin between

our best and worst. If we keep playing games like last year were we are out of the game at quarter time then i see things going to the s%%t very fast.

If we dont get beatin by more than 45 points all year that would be a big win for us. This club has got to stop teams making us look like once we break we give up.

I try not to get worked up with the nab cup but im getting tired of sticking up for our team. When we are thinking they are starting to look good and doing all the right things its a new year we can only get better and the club says get on board we have done this and that. But then we have a lose like this again and all my passion and effort i put into the club feels like here we go again and i feel like s%%t. Melbourne have got to stop games like this we cant just say were young its o.k to go down by 120 points then win by 80 points we look like we are so weak to other clubs and i hate it because i dont stop loving this club i keep going and cheering and helping as much as i can. But this crap has got to stop you cant keep doing this to all your loyal fans i feel our team thinks its fine and has been breed like a bunch of women under bailey. Im sure neeld will save the younger guys but the old so called leaders will never change they dont even remember what winning is all about.
