  1. That would be horrible

Oh good, let's break even this season, but look at putting more money into the Footy Dept next season or let's get a new emblem again after four years and have to spend money on changing everything again, jumpers, signage, letterheads, merchandising...sigh and sigh...any way agree must we go back to cartoonish emblems..why?....and besides which if it is going to have a name on surely the name should be Dees, don't hear many people calling MFC the Demons these days....

  2. When was the last time he had the fear of being dropped ? He's played near 80 games and he's had more second chances than most, enough is enough. Id rather Pederson in the team than Watts, he has half the talent but at least he tries

He actually needs 10 or more games in the seniors without fear of being dropped to actually understand his role and feel confident in his abilility. Which is something he hasn't had.

  3. I doubt thats the case Titan, not today anyway. Im not a Jack Watts hater and i doubt the people who have had a go at him today are either. People are right to be frustrated that he continually refuses to put in second efforts, his lack of intensity is deplorable, at least look like your trying

I never said that the fact that others didn't lay a tackle made Watts' efforts better.

What I said, which you are confirming, is that lots of people on here are blinded in their hatred for Watts and fail to recognise that he's not the only one out there who is playing poorly in our losses. From the way some talk about him you'd think he was single-handedly losing games for us.

  4. Agree with that T34, they are a reasonable team but calling them a quality said is a bit of a stretch

To the best side in the comp. who will rack up a number of similar sized victories this year.

They are a more than reasonable side containing the best player in the game.

  5. We lost by 13 points last time we played GC Nasher and had 27 scoring shots to Gold Coasts 25, i dont see much of an improvement regarding todays game, we were very poor

lol. We lost by 8 points. Given where we've come from, the improvement has already come from somewhere. Perhaps it'll keep coming from the same place.

  6. People still making excuses for his pathetic performances, unbelievable

Game was there to be won, but GC (with a little help from the umpires) did enough to take the wind out of our sales. There were some frustrations and there were positives. No doubt there is improvement but we went into our shell way too much and at times there was not enough hard running. Watts had a bad game today but I can understand why at times he doesn't do hard leads, because even when he does they don't honour it enough.

Too many players drifted in and out of the game, and unfortunately we collectively switched off in the 2nd quarter. That was the difference in the end.

8 points flatters us but probably more a sign that we weren't going to pack it in and that alone is a good positive to take away.

  7. You have got to be joking, wouldnt even be close to getting a game at Hawthorn. Ive never seen a player whos second efforts are as pathetic as Watts.

On the tram Was at the game . . . Watts is criticised often . He tried just wasnt his day . Team stats- wins -plus for hitouts . Watts would be a superstar in a hawks jumper .

    Team . . .

Suns were too quick , and too big in attack . We need Garlo but we need someone bigger for a a defensive matchup .

    Go dees

  8. Damn langers, i wish you had of asked this question a week ago. I recently converted my old video tapes from the 80's and 90's to dvd, there were a few games i didnt bother copying as i wouldnt watch them again, that match was one of them and i put it in the bin last week. A friend of mine might have it, ill ask him and let you know

    guys

i am looking for a copy of 1995 r7 Melbourne v Brisbane bears played at mcg. It was a sunday game, and was Melbournes first victory of the year, 12.10.82 to 10.15.75.

Channel 7 did a 1 hour replay at 5pm on the sunday.

I have already contacted name a game/sports delivered, ch 7, the club, the afl, tried youtube and various torrents sites, no luck.

Does anyone have this game, and if so, can they do me a copy? i have plenty of old melbourne games from the 1980s to early 90s to offer as a swap.

any assistance would be greatly appreciated

    thank you

  9. Agreed Master, i will never forget the hip & shoulder Neitz put on McCabe quite a few years ago, if there was ever a scuffle he would always be in the thick of it standing up for his teammates. Do you remember Ted Fidge ? Wasnt much of a player but certainly made his presence known :)

Whelan was a beauty. Neitz was good but he was a lead and mark full forward, he simply didn't have the opportunities to make a statement. James McDonald was the classic unassuming tough as old boots guy. But for everyone like him there were plenty of Yze's, Green's, Bruce's etc.

  10. What about David Neitz and Matt Whelan ? They had more courage and mongrel than our current entire list combined, bar Nathan Jones. I would love to see it as well billy, i doubt it though. Can you imagine Jack Watts drawing a line in the sand, hed probably trip over it.

We have no-one capable of doing anything like what Hawthron did that day. No team or opposition player is intimidated by any on our list. GWS showed that last weekend, and it has been a trait of this club since the late 80's-early 90's.

I would love to see it, but it is the last thing I'm expecting to see on Saturday.

  11. Considering the spuds we draft i doubt it. Id take Frawley over any of our top 5 picks from the last 10 years. Morton, Watts, Trengove, Scully & Toumpas, you wouldnt get pick 50 for that lot combined.

I ask myself the question of how much would Frawley be worth in trade.

He's surely not worth anything north of pick 5, which is what we would likely receive. I like Jimmy, but it could well be a win win if he goes.

  12. Hairshirt thread....some posters do really need to get out from behind the keyboard now and again....move on nothing to see here....practice game against Hawthorn coming up

He's entitled to his say, dont read it if you dont like it. Now get back to stalking the players at training

  13. Not saying this applies to Hogan but a mate who does sports science used to say to me that when they scream in agony as if they were dying, it's usually not severe knee injury. When they feel a little discomfort like a bit of a strain, the medicos start to worry about a knee reco.
As I said, this is just a theory.

  14. Im with you Redleg, dont like it at all. I would trade Lyons & Vince for 20, not Vince alone. I dont see any point in trading a pick in early 20's for a player who wll be lucky to play 2 years. Adelaide would be rubbing their hands together if they can land that pick for Vince alone.

I don't . I would want Lyons as well. 28 year old might get 1-2 years for a pick 20.
