  1. In describing Mitch Clark I like some of the non medical terms they use ( foot issues). I am concerned one of the scans may have showed a hot spot as another comment alluded to some load concerns. A hot spot can be the fore runner of a stress fracture or at the least a stress reaction which needs rest . Obviously this is trying to put medical terminology to coach waffle ( foot issues ) duh!
  2. Just wondering about Dean Kent ,not listed as injuredf, would have thought he was a good chance for round 1 .
  3. As a result of Jordan leaving I now have a genuine one off collectors item . Signed photo of Jordan with the words future Melbourne captain written on the back:( ( given me to me via a friend of his family) Unfortunately I also have a beautiful sketch of Jurrah in full flight Got a space on my cabinet now ,who will fill it
  4. My take on all our trading is Neeld has just made a list of targets to fill holes/needs 1 strong body with finals experienced key forward = dawes tick 2 crumbing foward with finals/experience =byrnes tick 3 verstaile swing man back up forward ruck =pedersen tick <if we get him> 4 experienced running link man = ray tick <if we get him> Neeld has said this is who I want get them whatever it takes b..... the draft picks these are the guys I dont want gysberts, morton martin moloney trade them or we delist them we have good kids drafted some good ones happy with the rest if you view it from that view job done
  5. Went on twitter could not see it Can someone copy it or point me to where it is I.e link Thanks
  6. lynch can ruck dawes cant that is what they wanted ruck/forward we want big body forward =dawes
  7. It seems that Geelong are trying to fit both Jared Rivers and Hamish Mcintosh in but having difficulties. If they get Jared and not Hamish we will have a pick to get cam Pederson If they get Hamish will they be as keen to flick off cam or if they get hamish and not Jared we may not have pick to play with.
  8. Difference being that Bulldogs Blues and demons made their pitches and they were considered and he chose demons . In case of Clarke we came in after freo and changed his mind Minor sticking points will be pies who will try hard but have a need to trade as they want Young from Hawks and need salary space
  9. It concerns me that while I am supportive of Mark Neeld(as per my avatar ) it is a concern that it appears two players (wellingham and dawes )who have had direct contact with our coach and have had good money offers put in front of them have chosen to go elsewhere and seemingly were just not keen to entertain coming to Melbourne
  10. When looking through the rumors there seems to be a vast discrepancy between reliability . Nudge has used the hot/ warm or just rumor categories . I suppose it could also be a Greg Denham / sports news first at base level with herald sun one level up then the age / Emma Quayle who seem to be more reliable . It is always hard to get a handle on how much credence to give a thread and a rumor strength rating would be good . Also it appears that some posters have the runs on the board with inside info . Which posters should we believe and whom do we discount
  11. As we need to get to 1000 posts on this thread I felt compelled to add another I am in the camp of get him at whatever it takes obviously hoping for a second round pick. He has the aggression and commitment that I feel outweigh a theoretically quicker or better kick/ handball exponent . There will obviously be angst if g c or gws nominate him ,I wonder if the essendon fan sites are also speculating whether any other club will nominate Joe Daniher . Jack is clearly top Half dozen in the draft and for the pedigree and attitude if we pay slight overs so what . He will be a long term quality and integral part of the side for a decade
  12. As we need midfielders most importantly ,it would be nice to offer up Martin to pies wellingham to west coast and Stevens to us
  13. Is there any indication one way or the other if we have any interest in any of the international players. It costs little is highly speculative but has good upside and as the pioneers with the late great duo of Jim and Sean we should be in it ,if not this guy one of the others
  14. To me it seems to say I want to play for Melbourne pick me .If you dont I will play to my maximum for a side that does
  15. I suppose the worse case of a youngish key position forward with experience ( Dawes) and a b+ mid with speed and run(wellingham) for pick 4 as well as either Viney or a top quality mid ( toumpas/wines ) at position 3 and probably pick 13 + 18 (from pies) does not seem too bad
  16. Some time ago when a list of players not signed was put up Rivers name was among them . Has he has a contact offered and elected to Suss out the market or was he not offered a contract ?
  17. Any chance of seeing that video on an iPad Is there a you tube clip too Says that quick player or flash needed
  18. I feel G w s most likely to be throwing the cash
  19. One of The critical parts of the recovery process is complete non weight bearing for several months. There is really nothing else to report one way or the other at this stage.,and There is nothing sinister in non reporting because there would really be nothing to report . In next phase when he he starts running etc will be better able to judge post op progress .
  20. Doing further research as other posters have hinted at,the term refers to a group of conditions ,ranging from at one end ligamentous damage only ,to others including one bone to the worse end of the spectrum multiple bones and ligaments . When Josh Mahoney says they will plan his recovery I would guess they will be approaching one or more specialist foot orthopods and deciding on conservative route of immobilization (keep him in plaster ) only or operative intervention.
  21. Interesting tidbit when reading afl report that Melbourne club doctor Dan Bates attended to him. That is first reference I could see to replacement for our previous crew
  22. Just back. Schwab did say when asked about sponsor that they were very confident of signing another major sponsor who is Chinese based close to deal BUT no signature yet Went after talk and and asked Cam Schwab about the medical staff. He said that a team of three doctors have been appointed and would be formally announced in the press soon I also asked about how the seemingly complex off field structure was organized .The response was that each person had a defined role and that their job was to perform that role but specifically Neil Craig reports to Cameron Schwabb and interestingly Neeld reports to Craig. Also not sure if reported thatGreg Healy is the new Football director
  23. I feel there are some misconceptions about the different roles of the different members of the medical/ physical therapy health team. The doctor would be responsible for any non injury related health issues eg thyroid condition suffered by Troy Davis or other health matters be they physical or mental and diagnose and treat the player or organize appropriate specialist help where needed. On match day treatment of injuries requiring treatment such as lacerations needing suturing assessment of the severity of a head injury or other injury which may require specific treatment at the time eg dislocation of a shoulder. Administration of local anesthetic for joint/ligament problems to allow a player to play (providing further injury is not likely by doing so) Injuries sustained Physiotherapist would be involved on match day therapy for physical injuries and most importantly with the rehab of players after injuries sustained .most of the day to day rehab I believe would be the responsibility of the physio with liason with the medico and the physical conditioning staff The physical conditioning staff (Misson et al)would be very active in planning the regime to maximize fitness and strength in players in pre season and tailor programs to work on specific issues in individual players. Maintaining and optimizing physical well being of players and lessening injuries and time lost with injury would be in their area too. Obviously there is overlap and a conducive harmonious team is critical
